This was our second visit to this site, Its a nice field, easy to peg and mostly flat, just a few small bumps. The toilet is a real toilet and not a portaloo which is good and has a little cold water sink for washing n teeth. The camp fire pits are lovely to sit around and I think this is the main reason for us visiting this site. The wood and kindling available from the house next door is extremely cheap and burns well and for a long time.
I find the site weird, in the sense, no matter how warm the day has being the grass gets very damp as soon as the sun has gone. We stayed 2 nights in August last year and 2 nights end of May.
But that's what wellys are for and at £6 a night its a cracking site.
Oo just a little pitching tip, try to stay near the fence or in the smaller field because although the car noise isn't a problem the angle of the road makes the headlights seem like they are coming right at your tent.

This is a fantastic little site about 8 miles north of York. The owner was friendly and helpful and offered advice about the local area.
The cost was a very reasonable £ 7 a night.
Fires are allowed which makes a nice change.
There is a Pub 10-15 min walk away
One toilet but no showers or electric. Cold water tap and Chemical disposal point. Everything nice and clean
There is no electric at all on the site and the roads nearby so be sure to take several torches.
No complaints at all and will certainly return.

Had two great stays at Fox this month, Just at the edge of Huby village, this is a recently opened site with things looking good for the future, level and easy to peg pitches with plenty of room.
Single toilet and no showers or washing up sinks but the price reflects this. Recently planted hedging and small garden plot.
Just over the road is a nice walk to fishing ponds through a forest, under a mile to the too expensive village pub, £3. 40 for rubbish lager! About two miles to Easingwold which I havent explored yet.
The site has fire pits for campfires with logs available at a nearby house. I would recommend taking a fire bucket or extinguisher as a precaution, your tent may be fire resistant but an ember could still melt a hole!

Just returned from visiting this small fantastic camp site.
We just spent 1 night here after reading the other reviews were not at all disappointed.
The lady who owns the site was there to meet us she is really pleasant and couldn't have been more helpful.
We really enjoyed sitting round the camp fire and got the logs from the sawmill just up the road, enjoyed it so much we got another bag.
There is no play area for children but they all played together. This was a great experience for them as they are used to electrics.
Great night will return.

Spent two nights at Fox Covert and had a great time. Booked this site due to being able to have a camp fire. Fantastic! wish more places were like this site and allowed camp fires.
The site is basic but they're the sort of sites that we like best. There is a toilet with a cold water tap, CDP (with a tap next to it for washing out) and a drinking water tap. The site is next to a road but it didn't bother us. Hedging has been planted which, when it grows, will provide screening from the road.
There are public footpaths into the woods and it is safe to exercise a dog off the lead. Our dog had a great time running around and snored very loud all night!
Huby has a small shop/P.O. But we didn't get to use it as it closes at 12.30 on Saturdays and we'd gone to the pub for lunch instead! There is a Co-op supermarket in Easingwold which is only 4 miles away.
There is a chippy in Huby as well as the pub that serves good food. If walking back from the pub at night, take a torch. It's a short walk but there are no street lights near the site.
York is only 9 miles away and the Park and Ride is great for taking out the hassle of finding parking in York.
Overall, this is a great site and we would be happy to return for another stay.

Just got back from a night at this site, and it is a beautiful, small and tranquil place.
Owner was very helpful and friendly. It only has one toilet and no showers but this was fine because there was only one other family there. The site is only big enough for about 6 tents but if you want to escape it all this is perfect.
They have fire pits near each pitch and a house about 5 mins up the road sells wood for £3.50 for a big bag. Very easy to access York and the pitch only cost £6. I would highly recommend this site.

Just this minute got back from the campsite having spent all weekend there. The site itself is perfect and will be even better when the showers are installed etc - that didn't bother us though! The site is very spacious and we were there on our own for the last night of our stay.
Didn't venture into Huby but it looks like a very lovely village and everything mentioned in the description is very easy to find! York is incredibly close and Rawcliffe Bar Park and Ride is really easy to get to!
If you want somewhere where you can sit out at night round the camp fire, looking up at a perfectly unspoilt sky (no street lights) then this is definitely the place for you! The lady who greeted us was very welcoming and had a fab sense of humour! The toilet was clean, had loo roll AND hand wash and was kept clean all weekend.
The fire pits were perfect and the place that sold logs was just a 5 minute walk up the road. The logs were available all night and all day too as the place operated a trust box system so.
All in all a brilliant weekend. The weather spoilt it a bit but the fires at night more than made up for it!

Went to fox covert in April 2011, situated in a lovely village but not too far from the shops and supermarket. We pitched up and had a walk around the area. Small, well kept site. Very basic but everything you need for a weekend stay. Very clean new toilet block, bins, water tap, bit disappointed that there were no showers but I do believe they are planned for next year. The site is surrounded by horses and sheep which the kids loved. We met the site owner who could not do enough to help us and make us feel welcome. The site allow camp fires providing you use rocks/stones provided.
On the first visit we went as a family, 2 adults, 1 child and dog, had a fab relaxing weekend and the best weather we could have asked for. Didnt venture out much just into the local villages. We decided to go back the following week with 3 other families, 15 of us all together. We spent most of the weekend playing rounders in the field, we walked around the lodge where fishing is available.
Great location, countryside but not too secluded. We spent a good few hours in York. Best part of the trip only £6 per tent. Excellent value weekend.Definitely consider going back. Look forward to seeing what the future plans are as it is a new, developing site.
