First time camping in many years and we went with some very experienced campers to make life easier!

Arrived at 12pm, no-one on site and the toilets were locked so we went to the pub (very good) to keep dry for a bit. Got tents up and the owner turned up about 4pm and unlocked the toilets which were spotless.

The toddlers had a great time and all in all it was a good trip.

10 mins into Ingleton which is great and as mentioned the pub round the corner is excellent and child friendly.

Not a bad site for a short break. We've just returned from a 1 night stay that was perfectly fine.

The site is small with 5 pitches with EHU, though you'll need a good 10 metres of a lead to make use of it. Apart from these pitches, there were only three or so other tents, so it was quiet.

For two people and a camper with EHU is was £21, which is verging on pretty expensive I think, you also need to pay £2 for a 10 minute shower - if there's someone there to sell you a card to make the shower work. Good job we were just doing a one nighter, so didn't have to worry too much about the lack of a shower card!

Ingleton village is a short walk away, and the views on a nice morning really are spectacular.

Overall, I think we'd probably visit again, but are not in a rush to do so. Should you go and stay? If you're wanting to be in Ingleton, then yes it's not too bad. If you're looking for a really great site, then this probably isn't it!
Management response: The charge stated of £21 per night is most certainly not correct, to arrive at this kind of figure they must be adding the hook - up point charge on to this price which is an optional extra, which are card operated NOT a nightly charge. The cards are £5 per card which lasts an estimated time of 2 days depending on how they are used.

With regards to other prices, they are on par with other sites, we do not charge for tents, we do not charge for awnings, we do not charge for dogs which other sites charge for. The only difference is that we do charge slightly more for cars than other sites and this is due to the amount of damage that they cause throughout wet weather when travelling on and off of the field

I rang to book a pitch the day before we wanted to arrive (a last minute break) and apart from being a little hard to understand we were told it was fine to simply turn up the next day. When we arrived there was no one in the office so we pitched up and went for a wander, a note was left when we arrived back with a contact number which we rang and the owner arrived within minutes to take our fee. No problems at all. The field is a little bland but a good even, dry ground (watch out for sheep presents).

The site is a lovely short to Ingleton village centre and there is a pub just moments away in the other direction. We didn't go in but it looked pleasant from outside. The wash/toilet facilities are basic but clean and it is £2 for 10 mins of hot water (after 5 mins the card needs turning round). I went for a visit in the early hours and couldn't find a light so don't forget your torch.

My advice is pitch on the side away from the lane, it may seem quiet but there was a few chatty walkers, cars etc. Apart from that we were very happy and will be visiting again soon.

There were problems with the toilet/shower block. The supply of hot water was very irregular during our visit, but the owner was there on many occasions trying to fix it. On one of the nights there was no electricity at all meaning the block was in complete darkness. The taps in the block were extremely difficult to press on (its the same with the supply outside) and once on the water force was too great to be useful. There were no bins, just plastic bags attached to screws to put your rubbish in. The doors on the loos don’t lock as the bolts were misaligned and the 2 mirrors were positioned so low on the wall you had to bend down to use them. Generally the block was scruffy, e.g. Half painted breeze blocks and roughly cut wood.

We paid £16 per night (car and two people) and the showers cost extra.

The best thing the site had going for it was its location – the Marton Arms 2 minute away and Ingelton a 10 minute walk down the lane.

Referring to previous reviews, agree that this is a lovely part of the world, but this is not one of the best sites. Had to phone the owner to find the site, gate padlocked up and no signs to indicate where the site was. Looked a bit muddy, and still no hookups or electricity, as mentioned in last reviews August 2010. Lovely area, lots of pubs, shops and things to see and do, would certainly visit the area again, just a pity that the site is not yet up to scratch.

We visited this site over the August Bank holiday weekend. There is a lot of space on this site with some marvellous views, and the pitching is of the 'select your own spot' variety which suits us very well. The facilities block is an almost new construction which has male and female toilets, indoor washing up area and a drying room. Whilst it was all spotlessly clean, there seems to be a problem with electricity to the block and as yet the showers are not working and unless the owner comes and connects a mobile generator there is no hot water either.

These few teething problems are not sufficient to deter campers to the site as it is well located for Ingleton village which is a 10 minute walk away and has all the facilities you might need for your stay including at least 3 local pubs, all serving food, newsagent, award winning butcher and bakers, a co-op and a number of outdoor clothing/equipment shops. Access to the waterfall walk is in the village as is a heated outdoor swimming pool (seasonal). The walk up and down Ingleborough, one of the 3 Yorkshire peaks also starts from the village.

Along from the campsite itself is a small hotel and country pub serving excellent food and has the largest range of whisky I have ever seen in one place. Thoroughly recommend staying on this site.

We had a great stay at this nice site on the edge of Ingleton, (walkable). The new facilities block was very good and will be even better when the showers are finished.

The southerly views are very pleasant especially on a nice evening, and the site is gently sloping with no problems getting our pegs in.

What made it even better was the Marton Arms Hotel less than 5 minutes stroll away. It was family friendly and the food was very good. There was also a large selection of excellent real ales as well as over 200 wiskeys! They even allowed us to pop in for breakfast.

Loads of other things to do locally so thoroughly recommended.
