We stayed two nights here on a non-powered pitch in the overspill area. The site felt spacious and we had plenty of room around us. The shower block was clean and didn't seem particularly busy, although the site wasn't full. The showers had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The ladies and gents both have two toilets and two showers. There is a shop in the reception area (open when reception is open) which sells basics including milk and bread, and also seemed to have a reasonable range of other stuff. There was a small children's play area with wooden swings and a climbing frame / slide. There were several families on the site and the children seemed to have enough space to run around and play without disturbing others. We enjoyed our stay and would be happy to go back. The site is relatively exposed but our tent coped with the conditions (I'd recommend pitching your tent "properly" though), it's a great place for kite flying, and the views of the coast and Bambrough castle are lovely. There seem to be lots of new trees planted which will provide more shelter in the future.

We visited this site over the B/Hol at end of May. As previous review says nice and level with a good layout, the views are good over to the beach and castle. The owners are still working on the play area, but children were using this. The toilet and showers were in a large barn and were clean and spacious plenty of lovely hot water, and in the ladies there was also free use of a hair dryer. The washing up and laundry facilities were good and there was also use of microwave and freezer. Unfortunately while there the weather was very wet and windy and you do feel exposed. There is plenty to do in the area with both the Farne and Holy island near by, also Anwick is a lovely town with a castle and beautiful gardens, not forgetting Barter bookshop for a browse and coffee with cookie!

We visited this site as a family of 4 over the May Bank Holiday using a large tent. The site is level and well laid out with lovely views over the sea and to Bamburgh castle. Pitches are large. There is no play area at present although it looks like they are building one. Seahouses is a short drive away but too far to walk with shopping etc. The toilets, showers and washing up facilities are in a large barn. Facilities are clean and spacious and there is a hair dryer which is free to use in the ladies and a microwave in the washing up area which is thoughtful. Showers are nice and hot. Only downside is that the concrete floor gets rather wet and grubby in the showers, an old towel or bathmat would be helpful. Now the downside; My God was it Windy! There is no shelter what so ever on this site and we feared for our tent through the night! Only one broken pole section though and we lived to tell the tale.

Well laid out, spacious pitches, easy access to hook-up points. Toilet & shower facilities excellent although we heard criticisms of the cleanliness later in the day - to be expected on a busy bank holiday we felt! The Chemical Disposal Point was well thought-out and stayed remarkably clean & smell free over the long weekend. The showers were powerful & there was plenty of hot water available when we used them. The free hair dryer was a welcome addition. Laundry & washing up facilities were more than adequate & the dryer very reasonably priced. There was a large rack on the wall containing loads of information on the local attractions which we found very useful. The atmosphere on site was very friendly, mostly families & no rowdy parties at night. The few dogs we saw were under control & there was no sign of any mess left around (you know the sort I mean!) The views from the site were stunning, you could see for miles along to Bamburgh castle which was illuminated at night & out to the Farne Islands. The beach was within easy reach for most people on foot & was very clean with no visible litter. Seahouses was very busy over the weekend, plenty of shops selling just about anything you'd need for a short stay including kites & buckets & spades. We did the Farne Islands boat trip aboard the 'St Cuthbert 3'. At £9 per adult it was excellent value for money. We were aboard for an hour and a half and toured the inner & outer Farnes with good commentary from the skipper. The sea was a bit rough due to the wind & changing tide but we saw lots of sea birds & seals from very close range, the boat often turning round to give us a better view. Be warned, take waterproofs & expect to get wet! It's well worth it though. We plan to return to this site again next Easter & do a longer boat trip to see the puffins nesting. Can't wait!
