We stayed decided on this camp site for a week in August after checking the other reviews. We were not disappointed. The shower and toilet blocks were clean and tidy. Considering it was the school summer holidays I only had to wait for a shower once and only for a few minutes. The games rooms and two table tennis tables were a definite hit with my seven year old son. As was the great children's play park. We asked to be situated near the play park & the owners were very accommodating. Great on site shop and an added bonus was the African cuisine catering van which visited on the Wednesday. Great food, lots of it at a reasonable price. Made a change from cooking! Great location just opposite Watermouth Castle which is well worth a visit. Impressive beach surrounded by towering cliffs but be warned - think its over 200 steep steps down so the trip back up is not for the faint hearted! Nice quiet camp site in the evenings, some road noise but not too bad. Overall we had a great holiday here & would definitely recommend.

We stayed here at the end of August/beginning of September, family of 5, 3 kids 11, 6 and 10 months. We arrived at a very long journey and were greeted with very polite friendly staff, no issues booking in. I had asked for 2 level pitches next to each other near the park and the facilities, this is exactly what we got, they were perfect. We had been told there had been rain the week before and if the pitches were a bit wet to just pitch further forward or wherever was dry.
When we got to out pitches we wanted to swap one as we have a baby that still refuses to sleep through the night and wanted to be tucked away in a corner to avoid disturbing anyone. This was accommodate fine and pitches swapped straight away.
While we pitched the kids played in the park, I could still hear and see them and the equipment kept them more than entertained. There was a rather large amount of wasps and my youngest got stung twice within an hour of arriving but once the bins were emptied this was no longer an issue.
The toilets were very clean and there were plenty, the same with the showers which were warm after a few presses of the button. They were free which is always a bonus and can be hard to find. The only small downside to the facilities was there was no family bathroom which would have been handy with a little one although they did have a changing unit and sink in a large toilet in the ladies (not sure about the gents!) which did the job of not a little awkward.
There was plenty to do near by and plenty of shops to buy supplies. The pub nex to the campsite was a a god send on the first night as no one could be bothered to cook. Good was decent and the fellas liked the ale!
All in all a fab week at a great price and everyone enjoyed their stay. We would definitely visit again if we were down that way.

Having read the good reviews of this site, we were not disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The site has a shop for everyday needs and there is a Tesco not too far away and a little petrol station in Hele down the road that sells most everything at reasonable prices.
We were pitched on a terrace just before the top field. Our pitch was large enough for the Tennesee 6 plus 2 cars and quite even. Just the other side of the hedge was the sea (nice to be lulled to sleep by its' sound) and if you walked further up there were some terrific views of the bay.
They have their own beach which is lovely but it does have rather a lot of steps, 220 to be precise so you do have to be fit(ish). You can explore the little nooks and crannies and can see Coombe Martin across the bay from one point. The beach does not have golden sands, but grey. Getting to the beach you get great views over the whole of Watermouth Bay - it all looks idyllic and peaceful.
There is a launderette, freezer for ice packs and there are 2 washing up areas, one in the launderette and one outside near the shower blocks. All nice and clean.
The are 2 places to shower, one behind the shop (wet rooms) and a shower block on the other field. There are 6 wet rooms/toilets (in a wooden block), so if someone had a shower, the toilet was out of use and the next 'user' would find everywhere wet. The basins were tiny corner ones and, unfortunately, no towel or hand drier to dry hands. The other shower block had separate section for toilets and showers. The mens and ladies blocks were okay with plenty of hot water but needed updating as some parts were a bit 'tatty' looking. The ladies were not always as clean as they should be but this may have been children, although a dirty nappy or two on the floor/on a toilet lid was obviously an adult.
On site, there is table tennis, snooker room and games room and a children's play area all enjoyed by the children on site. There is also a pub at the end of the site which, although we didn't quite get to, apparently served good food and ale.
The area itself is superb with fantastic beaches (beware of Saunton Sands (lovely beach) which charge 8pound for parking but after 6 is free or drive down the road to the dunes and pay 2 pound)and fantastic walks - google them, they are worth it! Some nice towns and villages not too far away. All in all a great central point from where you can explore North Devon whatever you like to do.

Have been past this site and the other two, knaps and watermouthcove the last 4 yrs so looked at all 3 and millpond (just up the road off main road) we arrived just gone 3pm very warm reception and shown on map our pitch, the site was very nice. Could have done with a bit more room between tents. Shop had the essentials but back in the village was better shop (free parking) and Tesco's in ilfracombe
Stunning views from top field( ocean view) could see across to wales main shower/toilet block bit of a walk but was in the middle of site, smaller (5) wet-rooms next to reception busy, but doing the washing up inside was nice and play area for kids was busy the pub at the end of the site the sawmill, dogs aloud in and food was nice
Getting to beach from reception up the hill to top left corner then 200 yards to 220 steps down to beach or take car up to knapps turning and drive up and past entrance and park next to steps
Over all 9/10 seeing as the fishing was good

This camp site has got to be one of my absolute favourites. Lovely views over the sea, you can pitch wherever you like and everywhere is nice. The facilities are good, a large toilet and shower block, plus individual toilet/shower rooms behind reception. There's a snooker room and television, games room and two outdoor ping pong tables. Also laundry room with freezer for ice packs, etc. For children there's a lovely little play area by the stream (very shallow) and most of the children, and adults, love the playful goats and watching them being fed. The beach is lovely but down some very steep steps, you've got to be fairly fit to carry all your beach gear back up! We preferred to drive a few minutes down the road to Hele Bay beach, there is an adjacent car park (£2. 60 per day) and cafe and toilets and is dog friendly. The camp site has a very relaxed atmosphere and really friendly owners, we look forward to coming back next year.

We arrived to a very friendly welcome. We were told to pick a pitch where we wanted. Decided on E6 as it was in the lower field and halfway between the 2 toilets blocks. All the pitches were clearly marked out. All pitches were in very good condition. All mown and green. No litter anywhere on the park. The toilets facilities were as good as it gets. Clean and bright. No mould anywhere. In fact not a cobweb in sight. The washing up areas were also clean. Plugs were present which is a good sign as to the type of people who camp there. It also shows that the site owners keep an eye on things. Sinks were swilled down after use. Recycling area and bins were nearby. No overflowing or smells.
There is a small shop which is part of the reception. It had everything we needed and there was no silly overpricing. I asked them for tobacco one day and they stated they were going the following day to restock. They lied. They went out that day and within 2 hours, it was delivered to my tent! That's what I call customer service.
They have their own little beach which the wife and granddaughter loved. I'm disabled so couldn't manage the steps. There is a play area for the kids beside the little stream which is more like a jungle gym. There was usually someone on there. Plenty for them to do and people with kids obviously happy. There is no restaurant or cafe on site. But there is a pub at the far end. There are no problems from there. Far enough away for quietness. Food in there was okay if they have what you want off the menu or if you get there before 6pm when they serve gastro food rather than good old pub grub. We thought the food was very expensive so only used the place once. The place next door had a fish and chip shop where the food was good. There are takeaways in Ilfracombe, but hardly anyone delivers.
The site is in a great location on the coast. Bit windy, but that's what you get for the view. We chose a pitch in the valley rather than the top field where you get the view for the simple reason of trying out the new air tent. We wanted to make sure it stood up to it. It did, no problem. The site is about a 10 minute drive from Ilfracombe with all it's shops and attractions. There is so much to see and do around the area. This site ticked all the boxes for us. We have already decided to return next year. This family run operation has got it right. We would recommend this site to all.

This is the second time we have visited this site and it is one of our favourites. The site is close to many lovely beaches but more sheltered than many sites. Pitches are generous and level or only on a slight slope. The grass is kept short and the whole site is clean and tidy. Although our boys are too big for the playground now, it did look great fun, there are two pool tables, a television and some arcade games in two separate rooms plus two outdoor table tennis tables. There is free wifi too. There is a room for washing up, washing machines plus a freezer to freeze your own icepacks. A little shop is on site plus a pub at the far end of the site. There are two toilet/shower blocks which are kept clean and tidy. There are hook ups and some hard standing for caravans.
Locally we visited Woolacombe so we could body board, Ilfracombe is near plus Combe Martin. You can join the cliff path from the campsite and walk to Ilfracombe and get the bus back.
An amazing site that we will almost certainly re-visit soon!

This is a family run site with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The reception area has a small shop supplying the basics which are all reasonably priced.
The section of the site with electric hook ups is in the bottom of a wooded valley so is sheltered and a sun trap.
The toilet/shower block was kept clean and there was always hot water. My only criticism is that the seat in the shower was too low for me to use comfortably ( I have had a hip replacement ) so I had to walk back to our tent with my towel around my waist to finish dressing.
There was a brilliant play area, sheltered by trees, approached via a bridge over a small stream with swings, slides and climbing equipment suitable for children 4 or 5 +. A very good place for children to meet and make friends. My 11 year old grandson was out until dusk every evening either there or playing table tennis by reception. The stream was shallow and clean and a good place for children to paddle and cool off as we were there in a heat wave. There was also separate play equipment for younger children.
The site is well placed for access to 3 local, and very different, beaches at Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Combe Martin and the nearest supermarket is only a short drive away. We did not explore the private beach as it is accessed via a steep climb plus steps down.
The site is very quiet and peaceful. I would not hesitate to go there again.

We stayed for a week and wish we'd stayed for two! Brilliant site that doesn't overcharge, friendly and helpful owners, great woodland playground with a lovely little stream! Ping pong tables which were great fun. A nice reasonably priced little pub at the end of the site. It was lovely and quiet when we stayed and our little three year old loved it there, can't wait to book up for next year!

Quiet and pretty, excellent facilities for the Children, plus a safe, shallow stream.
Clean, well maintained, we were lucky, we requested next to the showers, and got exactly that, these were clean, and a lot nicer than the showers/toilets at the other end of the campsite.
Adequate shop, ok priced.
Location was excellent for 3 other beaches and shops.
Very friendly, nice safe feel to the campsite, owners really looked after it.
Children all played together, but then at 10pm, the campsite went quiet.
Would definitely go again.
