Agree that it's a nice site and a handy 4hr run from Calais, with a short stop at an Aire. However, check first. We arrived on May Day weekend to find the site full of Scouts and Guides. It's the first time that we hadn't emailed as there is usually space. So we had to go on to Chalons.

This was a perfect distance from the Channel ports for a stopover on the way south. There seemed to be a large number of English people there so I guess I am not the first to discover that! We stayed two nights so that we could spend a day exploring the area. Glad we did: as well as the famous Champagne vineyards (with endless opportunities for free tastings if you go directly to the tasting rooms in the producers), there is an area of forest called La Montagne de Reims (regional Park) which was delightful. Knowing nothing prior to our visit about this site, we soon noticed some strange trees. Which turn out to be part of the largest remaining population of dwarf trees, mainly beech but also oak and chestnut (the 'Faux de Verzy'). Not just small, the branches are also very contorted. Well worth a visit!
The campsite itself was fine, we had a pitch reserved for us but as there was plenty of room when we arrived, we were allowed to choose an alternative, shadier pitch. A river runs along one side of the site but there is no obvious access (we later found a small gate and some steps in the corner closest to the gate). Plenty of very tame invasive American crayfish in there so presumably you could catch your own dinner! The site claims to have WiFi but you have to be pretty close to the office to get it. Number of showers could be increased as there were times when I had to wait for a cubicle to be free, and I was a little put off by having male cleaners in the women's toilets when it was in use. Small issues, we would probably stay here again if we were passing this way.
However, if you want to eat out, do not bother with the local restaurant which is a drive away from the campsite anyway, go to the Champagne villages.
Note also that the route to the campsite is a little confusing now that the roads have been rerouted nearby (maybe its just because we were using an older map and have no satnav).

We stayed here for just one night on our road trip around France. We didn't arrive until about 6, but the reception staff were great and we pitched up with no problems.
It was a lovely quiet site, with nice clean and ample facilities, although I am glad I read reviews previously as you need to take your own loo roll!
As we only stayed for the one night we didn't get a chance to explore the area, but what we saw driving in was very pretty and quaint.

We stayed a week at this lovely, quiet site. Lots of one nighters coming and going, but that was neither here nor there. Clean and regularly cleaned facilities. Initially the wifi was great, but deteriorated during the last few days there for some reason. Great location for reaching Reims, Epernay, Verdun and the Champagne routes. A couple of caravans thought it ok to loudly entertain each other until 1. 00am one night and we moved pitch. We told the owner who also dealt with the situation - not a peep out of them after her chat with them! Don't mess with her!

Had a little difficulty in finding this site as when we visited the main road into the village was closed for repair! However, my navigator (she who must be obeyed) soon found another way in. Remember this campsite is in a village in the country and can be difficult to locate. A sat nav will help! BUT once you have found it you will be delighted.
There are no particular designated pitches - just choose your spot and the lovely lady in reception will point you in the right direction.
Great spot for a visit to Reims and a decent supermarket not far away.
Great facilities, clean and modern toilet block and a real sense of safety and security. Highly recommend this site
This is a great site for a stop over but not much for the kids just a small play area, having no kids this didn't matter!

We stopped here so we could visit Reims and were really impressed with this lovely little site.
We hadn't booked but I'm glad we turned up early as the site filled up pretty quickly. Lots of overnighters but I think the area further from the gate would be for those who were staying longer.
It was quiet and cheap, it has a good dog walk area outside the site and was very handy for Reims itself with its beautiful but rather sad Cathedral. The Cathedral was completely flattened during the war and has been rebuilt, and there is a very poignant exhibition of before, during and after photos.
There were no specific pitches - you just choose a bit you like.
The loo site was good and clean and the showers are free.
I would definitely use it again.

We pre booked this site about a month before arrival as it was on route to a French 2 CV National meeting in Saint Dizier. We have stayed at Municipal sites before and must say this site was absolute quality and would highly recommend, it cost us about 40 Euros for 4 nights that was 2 people 1 car 1 tent, the campsite is surrounded by a 6 foot mesh fence so is very safe for children and pets as it is next to a beautiful little river. Facilities are first class and cleaned daily.

A fantastic little find. Stopped off after driving from Corsica in one go- so pretty tired and anxious about the site, but no worries. Easily accessible from the ring road, sat nav took us to the door.
The site is small and well kept - importantly for us after a long drive the pitches were flat and easy to park a van in for an overnighter. Soft ground for pegs too!
Very helpful lady at desk, only €18 for a caravan with electric and a family of four plus dog. Shower blocks adequate for a small site. No kid facilities, but safe and enclosed.
Took the dog for a walk around the quiet village - interesting little 12th Century church, lots of walks down lanes through poppy fields. Very pleasant
There is a restaurant about 2 km away and good sized supermarket in Sillery about 5km away toward Reims with cheap fuel, and Reims close if you want to go there.
No restaurant in the site unfortunately but it just isn't big enough for that. Poulet Roti from the supermarket did the job!

We had pre-booked this site back in January as a stop-over, and as we had never used a municipal site before, wasn't sure what to expect. TomTom took us to the gate (which makes a change!) and was greeted by a lady who was all ready for us. We paid our 12€ for the pitch and electricity and she directed us to a pre allocated pitch which very level and next to the very impressive and clean toilet/shower block (it didn't look that old to us).
All pitches looked good if not random, with shade if needed.
Bread was available by a van that arrived at around 8:30 the next morning.
All in all it will make us look again when we do stop overs in the future, highly recommended

We arrived at this site on a very wet Monday and managed to find a pitch which was not too muddy, the lady at reception was very friendly and helpful, even though she did not speak much English, I speak reasonable French so we were OK. We were two outfits and were only stopping one night so only used the toilet/showers, which were very well kept. The site is very tidy and well kept and I would definitely stop there again.
