This is a lovely site situated on the banks of the river Severn. Beautiful walks along the river and about 15 min walk to Tewkesbury. The caretaker was very helpful as we were new to touring and at times needed a little help. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the following weekend. Most of the caravan pitches are unfortunately now taken by season holders limiting space for touring caravans. My only criticism is most of the season pitch holders have dogs and although the rule is that they must be kept on a lead on many occasions they roamed free whilst going for a walk on site. Twice we saw dogs poo on the site and the owners did not clean up. Although this was no fault of their own as they were unaware as they were taking to their neighbours. There was a lot of dog poo around the site which was a major concern as we have young children who like to play outside. We did make the caretaker aware and he was very sympathetic so I hope this has now stopped.
Would like to return in 2012.

Good directions given on website so easy to find. About a 10 min car ride to Tewkesbury centre. Nicely laid out site with good hook up facilities.
Only one shower per men and womens blocks which costs £1 to use for 7 mins. Also 2 washing rooms and 2 toilets. Can imagine it gets busy in shower/toilet block in high season. Only one bin for putting rubbish in which was overflowing with a few bags around it. Good washing up facilities.
Site is next to a pub which we already knew from the website. Unfortunately they do not put on the website the fact that when the pub has events the music can go on until 2am in the morning. We did not know when we booked that there was a beer festival on the Saturday so the music on the night kept us awake. There is a list on the notice board of events warning that there might be loud music but maybe this should have been put on the website so it could have been avoided. It was too late for us as we were already there!
Also there is a ferry across to other side of river which if you ring the bell a chap comes out of the pub and takes you across! If we were to go again we would probably ring the pub beforehand to find out what events they had on.

Stayed at The Willows this weekend and the site is well kept and friendly. Understand the tent field is fairly new to the site but had plenty of room to pitch our tent and a drinking water tap was available in the middle of the field which we found useful.
Facilities were basic (1 shower which costs £1 for 7 mins), 2 toilets and 2 changing/wash areas) and 2 washing up sinks - some queueing took place.
Tent field is next to a lake with ducks which kept us awake on night one but weren't a problem on night two so must of been unlucky.
Pub is nice but dogs are free to roam outside meaning you have to watch where you walk - Sunday carvery looked amazing.
Terry and his ferry (costs a £1) will take you across the river and its a 15 min walk to the town centre (so we were told).
No shop on site was the biggest drawback but don't let it put you off as it really is a lovely site and the cleanliness and reasonable price make it a place worth visiting and we would return again.

My other half booked this campsite 24hours before we were travelling to Tewkesbury for the medieval Festival.
I was apprehensive as I didn't know the site and was towing on my own with Dave joining me the next day. I travelled through the back lanes, mindful of the comments on this site to trust the sat nav. Past the stunning medieval houses, and manor and down to the river bank.
To find when I arrived a barrier up stating 'motorcycles only'.
'Oh no' I thought. Biker Rally. 'and I'm on my own!'
The hairy biker on the gate stopped me and said ' You for the willows?' yes I replied and he removed the barrier and told me that the bikers in this group ( the bar fly's) were harmless. And pointed the way through to the site. He was v friendly and invited me to join in with their fun that evening!
The site warden met me, and showed me to the site manager.
He was very helpful and took my fees and provided some site literature and as I explained that I was terrible at reversing the caravan on my own, pointed out several pitches that I could select. I chose one next to the bikers. ( in for a penny and all that!). And having had trouble reversing. The site manager came over to help. Thanks.
The site is peaceful, well laid out, good sized pitches. It had been raining all week, but the pitches were solid and dry. Each electric hook up box, had a drinking water supply so not far to walk to fill up the waterbutt.
So. Off I went to the medieval festival to set up. And I returned at 10pm. The bikers were in full rally flow. The band was on. But they were more interested in the on site pub than the caravan site.
What a well behaved group of people the bikers were. Tidy, respectful, very quiet after 11pm. And polite.
A few got up early at 6am. ( I was looking forward to a lie in!). But absolutely no trouble at all.
I went to the medieval festival on the Sat and returned with Dave.
That eve we decided to join the bikers at the pub, and were made very welcome. Again no trouble. Polite and friendly. No noise after 11pm.
The toilet block was clean and although the shower costs £1 you do get a full 10 minutes and it really is worth it!. A nice power shower. Not a dibbling trickle in sight!
We stayed over until Monday and the Bikers had then gone home. The site was immaculate with no rubbish or indeed any trace that a biker rally had occurred that weekend.
We loved the site. And I think it has a lot of potential. There are so many public footpaths to explore not to mention the little ferry that takes you across the river towards the town. We will be back next year. And look forward to seeing you all again.

This campsite has a lot going for it and I think on any other weekend than this it would be a really lovely place to be. Unfortunately there was a biker rally at the pub campsite next door. The bikers were fine and really nice (apart from the idiot who started his bike up at 5:00am revved it twice and then stopped having succeeded in waking up every child in The Willows) but they had a very loud rock disco until 1:00 a. M. Both Friday and Saturday nights.
If you are going to the Wonderful Tewkesbury Medival Festival only camp here if you don't mind having little sleep!
The site is still new and the camping field is thick grass and lovely. The ladies facilities are clean and nice. The only issue was that the chemical disposal right by the toilet entries smelt terribly.
So nice site, just pick the right weekend.

My husband and I arrived on Friday afternoon, to a wonderful warm welcome by the site manager Simon. He informed us of where we could camp and as we were the first ones there for the weekend, we had the choice of the whole tent field!
We chose a lovely spot which overlooked the lake. We thought it would be wonderful seeing the lake in the morning (and we were not disappointed, especially when ducks and ducklings where swimming around).
After reading previous reviews, we were aware that the field may not yet have a lot of grass, but we were pleasantly surprised to find a carpet of green to pitch our tent on.
After pitching the tent we did the usual organising and gathered water, the water tap is in the middle of the field, so it's really easy to get to.
Next stop was to check out the toilet block. We have been to a lot of camp site, and I have to say this toilet block is wonderful (no spiders, or cobwebs and it's warm in the evenings), and you know it's good when you even have eco soap dispensers by the wash basins!
Also calling all ladies, they have individual changing rooms in them as well as wash basins, mirrors and electric sockets for those all important hair dryers and straighteners.
My husband said that the mens toilets were all clean and pleasant. Which I think sums up these toilet blocks, they are clean and pleasant.
We were there from Friday to Sunday afternoon, it was a wonderful quiet stay and we will definitely be making a return trip.

We arrived at this site on a Friday night for whitsun weekend. The gentleman who greeted us Simon I think was very pleasant and very apologetic as the camping field was not really a field at all more like dirt with lots of thistles.
We were told the toilet block was new but not finished and as with other review were not told we needed a code to get into the toilets, my sister was already there with their touring caravan so told us the code.
The setting is really beautiful right by the river and the pub at the entrance does excellent food. I think the site once established will be lovely and the touring caravan part was fine but when it rained our field was very very muddy. This being said they did make us fully aware that it was a new site.
We will visit again but perhaps not this year and would prefer them to have electric hook ups in tent field. Good luck to them though as it will be lovely.

This weekend was their opening weekend (27th may)
We were greeted by a lovely couple who were more than apologetic about the fact that the grass hadn't taken and the toilet block was not fully decorated. They explained were we were to pitch in the tent field, having a folding camper, they also apologised about the fact it was unfinished. We were more than happy with the field as they had let us know about the condition.(We have been to worse established sites and not had any warning). The site is within easy access to the river if you wish to launch a boat, public walk ways if you like walking and plenty of wild life.
The location is idyllic and the pub just outside the field is quaint, they do have a camping fields there but unless you like being right on top of you neighbours then its not the place to be.The food in the pub is lovely and portions are generous. Drinks can be a little pricey so be warned.
The site itself is going to be beautiful when completed and I hope people wont be put off by the fact it is in development for the first season. We will definitely return, even though it rain and we got quite muddy(lol). The owners have put a lot of time and effort into this site.
Make sure you get the code for the toilet block as we had to get it from 1 of the other campers. In saying this it was open when we arrived and as there was a mini glastonbury style camp on the pub site so someone had locked them to stop the pub campers using them,as the landlord had told them they could! This is wrong as they are 2 completely different sites.
This site is and will be great as long as the pub landlord has some consideration for the growing business that he could achieve from a captive trade as there are no other pubs within easy walking distance.
All in all 10 out of 10 for effort and apologise. We will return and review again. If you have any ideas or complaints the gentleman on site is more than willing for you to approach him and take your suggestions on board.

The site is located is in a remote place and you need to have confidence in your sat nav as there is no signage to the site.
When I drove into the site I wasn't sure if I had arrived at Steptoes Yard.
We had no prior notice that the shower block was in the middle of being reinvented and only just usable.
To top it off the grass hadn't taken which meant the pitch was situated a on gravel patch surround by a mud field which stuck like glue in the wet weather.
I would not recommend staying at the site this year.

Arrived Friday afternoon to be greeted with a 50% discount voucher for our next visit as the toilet block wasn't finished
Site was nowhere near ready for use by the number of vans on site for the weekend. Each pitch has water and electricity but no drainage - this is planned for next year. I asked where to dispose of waste water and received a blank look. Everybody just let it run to ground. There is a chemical disposal point by the toilet block. Hardstandings are a good size but the grass has not grown so it was just soil which quickly turned to thick mud when it rained.
Toilet block uses key codes for the entry but unfortunately no one was given the code as the builder was meant to leave them open. Saturday morning there were lots of desperate people as they had been locked during the night!
There is one shower in the ladies and one in the gents but these were not finished with no hooks and the floor was bare concrete.
On the positive the pub is very nice.
