Just stayed the weekend. It is a lovely site with a very big field with plenty of EHU’s dotted around.
We stayed on a hard standing which was good as the grass was very wet due to the amount of rain that has fallen in the past week (the wettest drought).
The owners are a lovely couple who are very friendly and welcoming. The owner even offered to drive us to a pub if we didn’t want to have to drive so we could have a drink.
The owners have 2 lovely black labradors who were very friendly.
There is 2 toilets (1 has a hand basin and the other has a sink where you can wash your pots, the site does recycling (paper, glass, bottles and even food which they feed to their chickens). There is also a box to put your dog mess in. There are also picnic benches around the field which will be ideal for eating meals outside when we have better weather.
There is a pub approx 100 meters down the road called The Sun which was a nice and reasonably priced.
The site is set in a lovely quaint rural location and a lovely drive away to other villages ie Pickering, Malton etc.
We drove into Pickering and took the steam train to Goathland (where Heartbeat was filmed) then got on another train into Whitby.
It cost us £10 per night which is a good price.
We will definitely go back to this site.

This is a nice quiet site run by a very friendly couple who will do whatever they can to make your stay an enjoyable experience. As the previous reviewer mentioned, nothing is too much trouble.
The toilet block must have been updated as it now has two individual good sized cubicles both with their own locking doors. Both cubicles also have a wash basin with hot water.
There is a fridge and a freezer available for campers use Free of Charge and bacon and eggs can be purchased from the owners.
The village of Normanby boasts a pub but that is all it has. The nearest shops are in Kirbymoorside about 4 miles away. A very nice small town by the way and worth a look. There are a couple of small supermarkets, banks, cash points and some very interesting shops.
A very nice site to stay at with lovely views of open countryside and one I hope to return to in 2012

I'm sorry to say I got kicked off this site when I objected to the owners dog being allowed to run free in the camping field. I am quite scared of dogs I don't know and this one is a huge black boy. When I found him in my awning scoffing the cat food he put his hackles up and growled at me. I had asked the owners if it was OK to bring my cats and they had agreed. My husband had to take a day off work to move me to another site.
There is a double gate 'air lock' system to get on and off the site and the dogs are often running free in that area too. Which meant getting on or off the site was fraught with difficulty for me. I love dogs and was brought up with large dogs, but I am wary of guard dogs running up to you barking.
I've never had a bad experience camping before. Its quite upset me.
The owners knocked a whole £5 off our bill to compensate. But it cost us a lot in diesel and a lost day at work to move midweek.
Very disappointed. I wouldn't recommend people take kids there or go if they are wary of dogs.

This is my second visit to this site, the first being in July last year when accompanied by my friends lightweight cycle camping. This time we were still using a tent but with all mod cons and the ehu.
The site is in the quiet village of Normanby not far from Pickering, Helmsley or Malton. The camp field is about 100 yards off the road passing the owner's house through 2 gates. You are greeted by a couple of noisy labs that are really good natured. The level field is open to the west but sheltered by hedges to the south and north and buildings to the east. There is a single small block near the house with toilet and basin next to a small utility room with sink and hot water.
Also a series of EHUs at the house end of the field with some hard standings, the west end having just fence and hedges.
Across the road is a river that follows the village with a footpath on the far side (nice dog walk).
Just over 100 yards into the village is the Sun Inn that in July provided very good food and fresh beer, sadly this March it was closed during the week and will only open weekends until the holiday season.
I found the owner to be really a 'gentleman' with nothing being too much trouble.
