We have just spent 2 nights at this caravan site and found it to be in a brilliant location in this lovely village. Our pitch was right next to the little lake with ducks and geese to watch. 2 mallards brought their little family right up to our caravan to see us! (Anyone taking children should note that there is no fence around the water)
We found the pitches for tourers to be a bit cramped but with no clear boundaries. Our pitch was allocated to us and our caravan and car ended up blocking the view from the caravan behind. Campers had a great choice of pitch for their tents, especially if they were not bothered about EHU. The toilets/showers on site are cleaned daily and are adequate, although there is a new toilet block on the adjoining 'statics' park which you can use. The block also houses laundry facilities.
Stamford Bridge has a fantastic fish and chip shop, small co-op supermarket, a hardware shop that sells just about everything you could ever need, and other small shops, pubs and takeaways.
Walkers can enjoy plenty of lovely walks from the village, and a regular bus service runs into York and back until late.

What a lovely site, about 15mins outside of York, but with a good bus service its easy to get in and out.
The place is spotless and Mike the warden is always about if you need any help or advice.
They have just had a new shower block built along with a full bathroom and disabled facilities and laundrette.
Great for fishing as well which is free.
Couple of mins walk into the centre of Stamford Bridge, which has a couple of pubs, supermarket, butchers and take away.
Will be returning before the year is out.

Had a great time. Very friendly owners who welcomed us to the site. The site is ultra clean and is very quiet. Picturesque tent pitches with a great fishing lake in the middle with some very friendly ducks.
The toilet and showers and washing up areas are very clean and well maintained. We were able to BBQ into the night without troubling anyone as the site is quite large. Must mention the Triton fish n chip shop on the A64 nr mc donalds and bp petrol station. Fantastic. Best takeaway fish and chips we have ever had.
Will be going back, to both!

We passed this site every weekend as a child whilst my parents were lugging a 10 foot sprite and a Renault 5 up to the coast, I always wanted to stay and managed to last year at approaching 30 years old with my motorhome
It wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be but was clean and spacious. It was confusing parking the motorhome up and then walking 200 yards to the reception in a separate block.
The site was level and was within easy access on foot from the village. The wash facilities were a little antiquated, it was essentially a porta cabin on stilts clad in weed, there were a male and a female shower with a central toilet.
The pitch was flat and offered electric and water close by. I would go back as there was a samual smiths pub over the bridge, and anyone who like real ale will know why.

This is a great campsite and I would like to keep it too myself however. It has Friendly and helpful owners. Clean modern washing facilities. Fabulous scenery and is close but not too close to all amenities such as shops and pubs.
It's a quiet site and very close to water so we were ok with 4 and 6 year olds but younger ones will need watching. It has a small but adequate playground. Within 5 minutes there are local shops and several pubs. I can't wait to go again

I stayed here one night and wish I had more time to stay longer. Its a lovely site with good facilities and in a great location. Especially for visiting the surrounding attractions, with a bus service to york. The couple who manage it were ablet o fit me in at the last minute and were very helpful. There is a small play park and a large pond. The village is 2 minute walk away, with a nice selection of shops. I will definitely try and go back. The only down side I could see was the water lying all over the site so could be a problem for tents.

Stayed here one late October weekend. The site is a small site and mainly hard standing with water and drainage. As we booked last minute we were on the grass by the pond which was okay until the rain came and we got bogged down very quickly and became very hard to get the caravan off, but if we were on hardstanding this site is a personal favourite. The electric is 16 amp and the toilet and shower, even though there is only one male and one female were clean and warm. The village which is only a two minute stroll over the river has a wide choice of pubs a take away a Chinese a spar and a very nice old fashioned whiskey shop. There is a bus stop in the village with a bus to York every 15 mins taking around 20 mins so you can get to York and back for £.50 which is great. We also had a dog and this was no problem

We booked in for our first camping weekend of the year and found the campsite to be okay. The weather was not great and the pitch quickly became very boggy which with kids and a dog meant keeping the tent clean of mud proved difficult! Although the kids liked the wildlife pond and weir running past the site, the village did not keep them entertained for long - although if you are willing to drive, York and the coast are not that far away. The toilet & shower block was clean if a little cold although the site was particularly quiet so not sure how they would fare during peak season. If you want to eat out, the local pubs serve food and allow kids in (& dogs in the garden). All in all, can't really complain but the site was a little too quiet for children, would probably be more suited to couples or the older generation.

We have just returned from this campsite. Being new to caravan / touring we are happy with the most basic of sites as long as they are clean and they safe for our 2 children aged 3 and 8. This site is very cosy and small, however not too crammed in. Our hook up was 16amp- great. There was no playground (We knew this before we arrived) for the children however they did like the Ducks and wildfowl that lived at the peaceful lake central to the site, given the chance our 3 year old would have been in there with them! The river Derwent passed only a few meters from our caravan pitch with others right next to it with a drop off of around 2 meters. For any family with young toddlers like ourselves, think carefully before you book this site or be prepared to constantly supervise your children. I can see this being a perfect setting for a couple. The toilets and shower facilities were in a purpose built wooden cabin central to all the tourers. I was a little dissapointed when I entered the shower room for the women (Only 1 shower- same for men) for the second day to find that the bin was still overflowing from the day before and was still there when we left on the third day. This led me to believe that they had not been cleaned in this time - yuk! My husband used the other 2 unisex toilets on the end of this cabin and was very dissapointed with the way the prevoious users had left it. On the opposite end of this cabin facility is a room for washing the dishes 2 sinks, also fitted with a microwave. We had to sompletely clean out the sinks of fat etc that the other campers had left there! before we could start to wash our dishes. This was the worst one we have used to date. A meter away from this end of the cabin in a place to dispose for you elsin which was adequate but not under cover therefor if raining be be prepared to get wet. Finally the staff we met were very kind and amicable. I hope this helps you decide on your site. Sarah

We have just returned from a glorious weekend at this site. It is mainly a small static park with a tourer / tent field. From what I could see, both tents and tourers are welcome, but in separate areas. It has a very quiet and peaceful feel, very pleasant and relaxing. Showers and toilets absolutely spotless and modern though only two for each sex. The village is only a 5 minute walk away with a marvellous Fish and chip shop, and several excellent pubs that do decent food. ( Lager £1.51 per pint !) The village is small but picturesque with a river walk and a weir. Nothing for children, but if your looking for relaxation, this is for you. We shall definitely be returning
