Camped here for the one night with my son purely to go for a walk. This is an excellent location for getting out into the hills. If you don't fancy walking up any hills just sit outside your tent with a bottle of wine and look up at them all, the site is surrounded!
All the toilets and dishwash etc. Were clean and well equipped. The site itself is a bit sloping but not enough to put me off going again with a bigger tent and the rest of the family. The site seems to encourage camp fires and will sell you the wood. The night we camped there were half a dozen fires going which give the place a good atmosphere.
The staff were polite and friendly which is a great reason to choose this site over Bryn Gloch across the road, have camped there three times and always been astounded at the bad attitude of the staff.
There is also a pub and shop in walking distance which is a plus for what seems like a rural site.
In conclusion will definitely be back.

We booked this site as we wanted somewhere to pitch our large Sahara 6 tent and were assured by the owner that there was plenty of space. Indeed there was! We had a pitch at the top of a field overlooking the valley and up into the mountains which allowed us to look over the top of the caravans on the site. It was however a sloping pitch which you should bear in mind. The field was very wet (not the fault of the campsite, more to do with the weeks of rain which had fallen), but it seemed to drain quite well - loose hardcore under the grass where we were, so watch your pegs. The facilities blocks were basic but clean, one of them much more modern than the other. It is a very quiet site, with campfires allowed and plenty of space for the kids to play, though there is also a small playground. Be warned about the donkeys - lovely during the day, noisy during the night!
There isn't much in the village (a small general store - the shop on the site never seemed to be opened when we were there) - we found a good pub over the hills towards Llanberis (right out of the site, then right along the narrow roads over the top of the hills) - it server fantasic food at very good prices and a good range of real ales.
A recommended site and we would return.

Lovely site, just had a week of peace and quiet it was great. If you like nothing better than the sound of birds and the wind blowing gently through the trees then this site is for you.Shower blocks very clean and lots of free hot water. The site was nearly empty so no queues great. The views from the camp are beautiful (put a smile on my face every morning.)
Martin the bloke who runs the camp is very friendly.Logs are not a problem as he will bring them to you no matter what the time. The village itself has everything you need, chippy, corner shop, post box and down the hill 10 mins walk a pub.The steam train leaves from here, you can hear it sounding its hutter as it moves through the valley as you sit outside you tent admiring the stunning views of snowdonia.
We loved every minute we were there that's why we are going back in September.I recommend this site to everybody and all ages hope you all enjoy it as much as we did.

Went for a week in what can only be described as a monsoon season, gave up after 5 days but the site cant be blamed for the weather.
Stayed on the camping field which is the furthest away from all the facilities except water. There is a slope uphill from the field to the toilet block but its only about 100 yds .
Considering the amount of rain we got I was surprised at how well the water ran off until some clown in a 4x4 thought it was funny to do hill starts & admire his handy work.
The toilets are cleaned daily & are better than some bigger sites I have been on.
The disabled unit is good for those who need it with sink toilet & shower all together plus grab rails.
A large party turned up on the Friday & proceeded to unload a marquee & karaoke machine which went on well after midnight, they couldnt believe it when they were asked to leave next morning, so fair play to the owners for not being intimidated by numbers.
The only draw back to this site apart from the slope which is manageable is the very narrow lane for a couple of hundred yards which could cause a problem to shed draggers.
At the end of the lane in the village is a chip shop run by an old girl who is barking mad but worth the entertainment value.
You are only 10 mins from Caernarfon & Bedgelert & a narrow gauge steam railway stops at the pub just round the corner.
So overall, did I like this site, Yes.
Would I go again, probably not as there are other sites that suit my needs better placed.
Would I recommend it to a friend, definitely.

I have seriously considered not doing a review for this site, as I don't want anyone knowing about it.
A small shop selling basics, a small park for youngsters, a rope swing, a play barn, walks up snowdon, a table tennis table and tv room.
And camp fires allowed!
Shower and toilet facilities were very good, and the owners friendly and helpful.
A wonderful coffee shop down the road at antur wanfawr, a chippy and a pub(with the railway stop for the welsh highland railway) in walking distance.
I will definitely return to this site

On arrival the site looked more like a caravan storage park than a holiday park. Most of the caravans were seasonal with all curtains closed and the long grass round the bottom, come to think off it, more like a ghost town.
We booked 2 pitches together but couldn't accommodate that they tried to squeeze us onto 1 pitch, we have a vango 900 with canopy and caravan with awning then suggested we split up but having three dogs that bark every time someone goes past we needed to be together so they didn't bark at family.
I know the weather has been bad but the fields were sodden with no drainage, grass was long so got soaked just walking around. No real views have hills all around so you would have to look up all the time to see the mountain view.
The games room shut t 7.30 and had a sign saying 'adult with them at ll times' same for the tv room so if your planning on the kids making friends there or using it as a meeting place dont.
We spent a couple of hours there didn't pitch and at £22 plus electric a night couldn't envisage stopping there 2 weeks decided to cut our losses of £100 deposit, and go somewhere else

Booked for 9 nights months ago. Made it clear that my son and I required 2 pitches next to each other, and that my son had a Vango 900 very large tent, which the site operator agreed to.
We arived today to find the site deserted of any staff to assist us and after about an hour a man appeared and asked us what we were doing there. We explained and he couldn't offer us much in the way of 2 pitches he did offer us a pitch aprox 40 foot wide between 2 other units for a caravan with awing and a vango tent AND 2 CARS! I don't think so! He then said he could get a 4 x 4 or tractor to take the CARAVAN and Sons Trailer onto another field which was churned up with MUD, but we would have to leave the cars at the other end of the site. After a while a lady came and again offered us the one vacant pitch, and bemoaned a campervan which should have left that day but was still there.
It was clear to us that they had not got 2 pitches for us so we spoke to the man in the office who seemed couldn't care less about us, and refused a refund of the £100 deposit.
With that we took photographs of what was offered and left. To return home as we were unable to obtain another site for the 9 days due to it covering the bank holiday. So we travelled 160 miles there and 160 miles back.

I agree with the general theme of all the reviews below; the site is relaxed and has good facilities. The owners are very friendly and they keep all the facilities in good order. It really is a very nice site. But I have noticed that there are few caravan reviews, and feel that I have to warn other caravaners about the difficult access via the narrow 700m stone-walled road. It's not impossible - we got in and out without a scratch - but there weren't many spare inches either side. Others have managed to get Hobbys and other wide Euro Caravans in, but most are on long term seasonal stays. If you meet a departing caravan there are no passing places, so you'll have a good chance to practice your inch-perfect reversing skills, or you might want to send a walker in front. I'm not saying don't go, but be prepared.

Just returned from a fantastic bank holiday weekend in Snowdonia at Tyn-yr-onnen Farm, even though the weather was 'typical bank holiday'!. Plenty of things for the kids to do (never saw them, except when they wanted feeding!) The owners are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The only downside was the sloping pitches, but this was far outweighed by the opportunity to have camp fires to warm up the cold evenings! Will definitely return. (Thought hard about posting this in case too many people find this little diamond of a site!)

Very easy going site. Loads of space and good clean facilities with sufficient number of toilets and showers. Owners were very pleasant. Beautiful scenery and a great base for exploring Snowdonia. Would definitely return to this site especially if camping with friends as you can pick were you want to pitch, and of course the campfires are a huge bonus!
