A very quiet spacious site, set over several fields one overlooking the reservoir. We visited last August so we could attend the local beer festival at Oakham and found the site perfect for that purpose. Only four miles out of Oakham with the golf Course just down the road as well as Rutland water activity centre just the other side of the reservoir. We decided to come back the following weekend and we were allowed to leave our vans sited for a very cheap amount and our caravans were checked on during that time. Very friendly staff along with a relaxed atmosphere means we will be back this year for sure.

What a lovely site with a gorgeous view over Rutland water. This site is looked after beautifully
All pitches are as the whole site clean and tidy with plenty of space between them. Brian is a fantastic Owner/warden /maintenance man and very helpful with places to visit and all local knowledge. A handy site for walking/cycling around Rutland water and a lovely Public house 15 minutes up the road for food and drinks. Thoroughly recommended to visit peace quiet and gorgeous views.

This site is one of our favourite sites with great views over the water and a short walk to the osprey center which is great for kids I think previous reviews have been of another site nearby because lyndon top is not adult only and there are no electric hookups at lyndon top that's one of the reasons we like it so much being able to pitch pretty much any where in the 7 fields is great there are plenty of taps doted around the place and 2 elsan points its location is great for cycling and walking our kids love going hunting for the rutland panther although I hope we never find it.

Beautiful views of the water, ideally situated for all the Rutland Water has to offer, large flat pitches, immaculately kept, friendly and informative owner - a fantastic site.
This is obviously a labour of love, Brian is an enthusiastic host who wants you to get the most out of your break without being intrusive. Everything is done with the greatest of care, making it easy to do all the necessary tasks water, waste, re-cycling, toilet etc whilst making the most of the stunning setting.
It was a 25 minute stroll to the Horse and Jockey where we had a lovely meal.
The nicest site we have ever been to.

Just returned from this hidden gem (Adults only site), we were there for three nights, I had to think twice about leaving a review, as more the people who know about it will make it difficult for when we want to return ha!ha!.
It has lovely views over Rutland water, the Rutland Water circular cycle route passes the site, very spacious pitches, which are all grass and level,
No toilets or showers, but it has drinking water, waste water, and a elsan point, rubbish bins and re-cycling bins, they now have electric hook ups for 6 caravans.
For bird lovers it is great, the site has a resident little owl, we saw the Ospreys, buzzards and red kites, to many more to mention,
The site owner Jason owns the local pub Horse and Jockey about 15mins walk in the village of Manton, we turned up at the site on spec and we phoned a number off the noticeboard, Jason came up from the pub to show us to our pitch within minutes, his father Brian was very friendly, helpful and very informative, and spends time on site, all in all a great little site, we'll definitely be back.

Lovely site with stunning views. Just had two nights there with four other vans. Great chat with everyone.
Brian and his son have started installing electric this morning in pouring rain, good luck to them but it will make a difference once it's in.
Had problems with the wet grass getting off site but Brian was about to give us a pull if needed.
No plans for hard standing as planning not approved which is a shame.
Will go again if only to se how the Ospreys are progressing, brilliant bird watching.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this site, Unfortunately it was poorly sign posted from the main road but the owner directed us to it over the phone.
The views of the lake are breathtaking and is directly on the circular route. We were on the site alone and the owner was flexible on our leaving time which was good as most sites request that you leave for midday.
Its a real back to basics site with no toilet/shower facilities or electricity but this is no problem as being in a van we have our own.
The site is dog friendly and ours loved it, the walk on the circular route is highly recommended although it is 17 miles so be prepared for aching legs the next day although this can be broken down.
The site was recycle friendly however a downside was that cans have to be disposed with general waste. I would have liked a can bin for recycling.
Overall an excellent site and will definitely return

Excellent site on South Shore with views over Rutland Water.
Very clean site with only 4 other 'campers' when we were there.
Currently no electric but informed this is in hand to be introduced. Paid fees at the Horse & Jockey (owners son), but Brian will collect or you can leave in an honesty box on site.
Excellent walks nearby and a Nature Reserve at the bottom of the drive.
Would definitely visit again and take the bikes this time for a ride around the water (well at least some of it)
Thanks for an excellent weekend

This is a lovely site, quiet with outstanding views of Rutland water. The site is well maintained and marked out with generous spacings, all grass but fairly level we just pulled up and parked no messing about with blocks etc. The facilities are basic, fresh water and waste disposal, no electric hook up toilets or shower block. The owners father was on site and was friendly and helpful braving terrible weather to come and check that we had all we needed and to give us brochures on local attractions.
Barnsdale gardens and Gunthorpe Hall are worth a visit. There are several circular walks through lovely countryside as well as the cycle routes around Rutland water, the Lyndon visitors centre is a short walk away and gives information on the Ospreys which come and nest at this time of year we were lucky enough to get a private visit at the campsite one perched in the tree on the boundary ! There are numerous pubs which serve meals close by as well as a selection of smart restaurants for a special meal, the site owner also own the Horse and Jockey pub just down the road so you are sure of a warm welcome there, we had a lovely lunch there. Both the pub and site are dog friendly.
We will certainly return to this site and would like to become regulars as this was our first visit.

We have just come back from 2 nights here. The site is very spacious with fantastic views over Rutland Water.
The owner has put markers in to indicate where caravans / tents go, so that everyone has views of the reservoir. The site is flat which makes pitching very easy and is a very well maintained site, with plenty of room between units.
There are no toilets / showers or electricity and its an adult only site. I would strongly recommend it for a long weekend away.
The instructions on how to find the site are also spot on. The landlord of the Horse and Jockey (just over a mile walk away) owns the camp site, so you can be sure of a warm welcome in the pub (including dogs in the bar).
We were advised when we booked (Sunday and Monday night) to reserve a table for the Monday night as the pub get busy as its Curry Night. The food is good and reasonable priced at approx £30 for 2 people including drinks.
The site cost us £10 for the night - 2 adults 2 dogs caravan and awning.
