My son and I arrived at Greenfields in torrential rainfall and hail after a 4 hour gruelling journey from the East - the thought of pitching up our tent was not a pleasant one and when the owners of Greenfields took pity on us and offered the use of their Shepherds Hut for hire we jumped at the chance!
It was cosy - with a heater, electricity(fab for charging laptops and doing non-camping things that a 14 year old would want to do - his last connection with civilisation apparently!) and tea and coffee making facilities - we were saved!
We had an extremely luxurious nights sleep and woke to glorious sunshine - ready for our Bear Grylls experience!
We had a choice of locations in a wooded area with plenty of kindling and wood to keep a fire going and my son amused the whole day.
The surrounding area has a lake, even more wooded land and beautiful deer to observe for great amounts of time - relaxation and nature at its finest
The owners have chickens on site, so the eggs are v fresh and they also sell venison sausages which are yum cooked over a fire and wrapped in some fresh bread from Sherborne which is only about 10 minutes drive away. We loved the location - went to the Cerne Giant and Sherborne.
Walking around the Dorset countryside combined with a lovely Market Towns shopping and a back to nature experience all in 3 days - fabulous!
Would definitely recommend the campsite and location, and will be back for sure!

This is 'back to nature' heaven. Your kit is ferried into the woods by the owners on a quad bike with trailer. There is wood lying about to burn in the designated spots (there's one next to every pitch), the pitches are far enough apart to feel like you have your own space and there are no intrusive floodlights at night so take torches.
The owners are lovely and so helpful. Eggs available every day (chicken or goose) and venison & pork sausages too.
The Hunters Moon pub is a 4 minute walk away, or 10 mins if you go through the woods. Either way, it's worth it for the food & ale (1 regular & 2 guest ales).
Sherbourne, with its Abbey is nearby, as is Dorchester and it's not far to Weymouth, Monkey World etc. Bournemouth is about an hour away. Loads to see & do.
This is a very new campsite, only just opened. Only one toilet but that wasn't a problem when there were only 4 tents. No shower yet but they're planning one. We were there for 4 nights so managed ok, any longer and we would have wanted to wash better! No complaints from us though, we would go again for definite.
Make sure you take boots cos it can get muddy!

Just 2 nights here over the Easter weekend. The wooded site is a bit muddy at the moment, so the owner kindly loaded us & our gear onto his Quad bike & trailer and off to the woods we went!
Site was empty so we selected a small clearing with a handy campfire set up for us. You can use this (all pitches have one) or hire a firepit & buy logs if you're more comfortable with that. Currently there's loads of wood available for use within the tent area, and as the property contains forest with deer in as well as the campsite I guess there'll always be a steady supply!
Facilities are a bit basic - just 1 loo with washbasin, but I understand plans are afoot for a small shower and toilet block before season end.
There's also a small Shepherd's Hut for hire off the camp site, but nearer the loo! I guess this may be moved when the weather improves.
There's a superb pub (real ales and good food) about 400 yards along the road. This road (A352) is not too busy, but I'd recommend care walking it as the verge is very narrow.
The highlight of our stay was the campfires each night - all 4 tents there had one going & it looked lovely in the dark - we even cooked over it 1 night!
Will we return? Oh yes! We loved it!
