What an experience. Never been to Dorset camping but was advised of this site by my mother who has rented a caravan on this site.
We booked to stay for 1 week and ended up staying for 2 weeks. The location is perfect although quite a lot of hills whichever way you walk. West bay is a 25 min walk & is a beautiful place. Bridport is a gentle stroll of about 1 hour. We also visited beer in Devon which is a 30 min drive & had the most wonderful day with crab sandwiches for lunch & then we hired a small boat which are very easy to drive & you pay when you return (you choose how long you want to stay out).
If cream tea is your thing there is a farm just 10 mins from the site which serves the best cream tea I have ever had. At £9. 20 for 2 it is not cheap but it is worth every penny & with a large menu of other food available.
Going back to the camp site it is perfectly situated but can be very windy at times. We were lucky to have 2 weeks of the best weather around & the moon reflecting off the sea.
The site is very quiet day & night with full respect to other campers & all very friendly. The showers are good with separate cubicles with sinks & lockable doors. There are 2 washing up sinks, a chemical toilet disposal area, a launderette which is very cheap & a shop on site for basics. They also supply ice packs which are £1 deposit for each & 25p a day to exchange. We had 4 a day & everything stayed cold BRILLIANT.
Will we return OH YES 10 out of 10.
This was the best holiday in 15 years of camping.
WELL DONE TO THE SITE OWNERS

I love this site. A well terraced camping area, with outstanding views, and a short walk to a lovely (but stony) beach. I have stayed here many times, and will stay there again this year. Lovely walks to both Colmer Hill, West Bay and Seatown. The facilities are basic, but cared for.
Downsides. When it blows it blows hard, it is very exposed when wind comes from the SW. I have now got a canvas bell tent, and might purposely take it for a test. The hill is steep for laden vehicles.

We visited Eype House, the weather had been very wet so muddy. Camping field accessed via very very steep hill, with the muddy conditions many vans and cars had great difficulty getting up the hill, skidding all over the place, very scary!
Great views but very exposed, very strong winds and rain, our awning struggled and we abandoned ship after one night.
Facilities limited, just two womens showers and water barely hot.
Good site if the weather is good and you're not worried about facilities being basic.

My wife and I booked a 2 night stay and overall we enjoyed our visit, with one or two caveats. We paid £18 per night which I thought was a bit on the high side. The site was well run with a small shop selling the basics. The only down side for us were the showers and toilets. There were only 2 for the men and 2 for the girls and they were very old and musty and not very clean. My wife refused to use them and made do with the wash bowl in the tent! That said, if you are not too fussy, then give it a go.

Nice spot looking out to sea, very hilly so not for the frail.
Booked and paid for a week which was a mistake, my advise would be pay by the day. If the weather changes it can be very windy, we saw most tents on the site flattened by the wind, I had to move my van around to block the wind to help a young couple. Spoke to a taxi driver about the wind and confirmed its always windy.
Nice pub up the narrow road - river cottage filmed there - nice meal.
We left early after only three days, and in the reception window is a small note saying no refunds for bad weather. Say no more.

We found details of this site and called to book as the weather was due to be lovely for the time we wanted to go. The lady was very friendly, relaxed and said no problem, they had availability. We arrived around mid day but there was no one in the reception/shop for us to deal with but they had left a note on the door to advise us of the pitch.
We had been allocated pitch 17. This was ideal as it was over looking the sea. There is a grassed mound bank and fence between us and the coastal path, of which you can gain access by walking to the bottom of the park or there is a stile at the top corner of the camp field. The pitches are terraced so each pitch has their own view. The only problem with this is that unless you are at the top of the field, you are always looking down or being looked down on! There was 19 pitches taken at most the time we were there. I'd say there were more than 20 available pitches though.
Being on the edge overlooking the sea is the best side to be on for views, ideal as we had a barby both nights on our disposable barbys, bricks provided by the site. Most people pitch their tents at an angle so they are over looking the sea, which can make it awkward to park your car, depending on the size of your tent. Cars have to be parked sideways across the field,(just in case the ole hand brake fails!)
The camp field has fresh water taps available and fire buckets. The walk to the showers and the loos is something you have to accept if you're on a sloping field. And it is pretty steep. There is a laundry room available which is in the same building as the ladies showers, which is not ideal if there are men travelling alone. There are only 2 showers too. They have locks on the door and hooks which is ideal and a towel rail and little shelf, you then have the shower curtain and a step up into the shower. The tap is the push in style, which initially annoyed me, but after getting used to it, it wasn't as painful as I thought it was going to be,although it could do with lasting a bit longer each time. There is a hairdryer which you have to coin pay for, which I didn't use so can't comment on. There weren't any plugs in there that I noticed to use your own though.
The toilets are in a separate block next door past the wheelie bin stowage. There is also the mens showers of which there are only 2 aswell and toilets and 2 washing up sinks. The ladies loos are in a separate block next to the chemical waste area. There were 5 toilets, a cubicle with just a sink in and 2 separate sinks with mirrors, there were hooks on the doors too which helped to keep things off the floor. I have to be honest. The toilets and showers could do with being cleaned and stocked up more frequently. It is this area that lets the site down in my eyes as they could do with a little bit of tlc and updating.
As far as location goes, it is brilliant. The dog is allowed on the beach which we found at this time of year a challenge in other places. The beach is only a 5 minute walk from the pitches too. You can walk along the cliff or at low tide along the beach to West Bay which is a lovely typical seaside town where you can get ice cream, fish and chips and all sorts. There seems to be pubs and hotels there too. One day we parked at Charmouth in the hope to walk to Lyme Regis along the coastal path, until we found out it has been diverted in land by approximately three quarters of a mile so we drove to Lyme and walked around instead
There is a lovely Morrisons Supermarket about 2 miles away from the site, going towards Bridport. We did discover that there is a cheeky wind up there which can make dismantling the tent (or even putting up) somewhat challenging but you'd have to check the weather conditions for that as we were very lucky we had sun sun sun the whole time. Overall a lovely couple of days away.

We visited Eype House with 2 other families and had a wonderful weekend. The site is tucked away in a beautiful spot overlooking the sea. The site is on a steep slope so the walk to the toliets etc can be quite an effort, however the toilets, showers, washing up areas are kept so clean and well stocked that it is worth the effort. Our kids loved running around the site and the bonus of having a BBQ on bricks made it most enjoyable. The nearby beach is very stoney but clean and easy walking distance from the site. The site shop has everything you might need, without being too big and impersonal and serves hot drinks and cream teas!
There is a very big Morrisons only a few miles away in Bridport and we visited Lyme Regis to play on the sandy beach and fished for Mackerel from the beach near Abbotsbury. Good all round tent camping site.

My partner and I have just returned from 3 happy nights spent at Eype House campsite. The location is simply stunning - sitting outside our tent in the morning, watching the sun come up over the other side of the valley and the waves coming on to the beach, was wonderful. Laying in our tent, we could hear the sea, the sheep and the birds - it was bliss!
I would definitely recommend this site, though having said that we were quite lucky with certain aspects and I think there are a few caveats.
The site was only about half full while we were there; it would be a bit less peaceful if all the pitches were taken.
The opening hours of the shop were a bit random and I think the cafe misses a trick - it sells tea, coffee, cakes, but nothing like sandwiches or breakfast items eg. Bacon or sausage sandwich (not that we could see anyway) which could be a real money spinner - we would have partaken!
The toilets and showers are a bit of a letdown - there are only 2 showers (for ladies at any rate) which wouldn't be enough if the site was full. The building is tired and needs doing up. The showers never really looked clean - probably not helped by the fact that it had been raining a lot before we arrived and the ground was muddy.
On the plus side, there were bricks for BBQs and water taps in the camping field as well as in the ablutions area.
Yes, the site is steep but this is the price to pay for the stunning views (though my car didn't like it much.) - you soon get used to the walk up and down!
The New Inn in Eype village was a nice little local and though the food wasn't cheap it was certainly good. I'd recommend booking if there are a few of you as it did get very busy.
West Bay is about a 20 minute walk over the clifftop with a bigger choice of places to eat, pubs etc.
If you like walking/hiking, what can I say - this is the place for you - loads of good walks both inland and on the coast. The SW Coastal Path was reached by a stile about 10m from our tent, so we were well set!

We visited this site from Thursday to Monday in late June. When we arrived the site seemed perfect, the location is wonderful with Amazing views from the clifftop across Eype's Mouth and towards West Bay and beyond. Only 12 out of 36 pitches were in use and it was quite a peaceful site. Unfortunately, as the weather was so nice a lot of other people seemed to have the same idea as us. When we returned from a day out on Friday the site was swarming with people and every single one of the 36 pitches was in use. Although this does not sound very many, the set up of the field meant that it had a very crowded feel to it. We had to keep asking the people next to us to move their deckchairs and children's toys so we could get our car past their tent! Fortunately these were mostly weekend campers and they all left on Sunday morning so the rest of our short break was very pleasant! For this reason, although I would visit this site again, I would only do so during the week, and definitely not in high season. I would add, though, that the toilets and showers were never over-busy (though we did get up at 7 every morning so maybe this was too early for some people!). Although a little bit grubby, to be honest on a £11/night campsite with free hot water it wasn't bad at all. The facilities include 2 showers and 5 toilets (I speak only for the ladies here) as well as a couple of cubicles with sinks in for private washing if you don't want a shower. They also provided two washing-up units (hooray, for once a site that does not put these in the ladies loos, so the boys have no excuse not to wash the dishes!). All the hot water was free of charge. There was also a laundry with washer, dryer, ironing board and a rotary line. You have to pay £2.50 for the washer and 50p for the drier (I think, but I didn't use them). There is also a hairdryer in the ladies which is coin operated, again I did not try it to see if it works. The site shop sells basic essentials and they refill your gas bottles for you and freeze your icepacks too. There are fresh water taps at a couple of locations on the field so you don't have to walk all the way to the toilet block to fill up your bottles. It is a short but very steep climb! Locally we ate out at the Eypes Mouth Hotel which is a 2 minute walk and has a nice view across the bay. They have a table d'haute restaurant upstairs with 3 course meals, but you can also eat in the Smugglers bar downstairs which has outside tables if the weather is nice. The food was very good. The downside is that it shuts at 10pm, though when camping you end up getting up so early that staying out til midnight doesn't sound such a great idea! The beach is stony so beach shoes are a must. It shelves steeply so you can swim very close to the shore. If you want to, you can walk all the way along to West Bay and beyond, or else there is the clifftop path which gives better views, but is very steep in places. West Bay is a very nice little seaside village and the beach is made of what looks like imported builders sand. Walking along the cliff path from the campsite in the other direction takes you to Seatown, and (if you are very energetic) Charmouth and Lyme Regis beyond. A must would be the short but extremely steep walk to Golden Cap, the highest point on the South Coast. There is a bench at the top! All in all the site is very nicely placed and provides reasonable facilities for the money. I'd definitely consider coming here again but not on weekends.

We stayed 5 nights. Good points: located minutes walk to beach - can carry barbeque tools to beach from camp site!; great sea views from most pitches (except pitch 22); good location for walking along coastal paths to nearby villages
Bad points: site shop is limited (but Morrison's supermarket is nearby and recommended); steeply sloping site; very narrow long access road to site which is well used and inevitably you will meet traffic; disappointed in the toilet and shower facilities - flow of water from showers is inadequate, toilet and shower block requires urgent updating, cleanliness of showers/toilets was very disappointing - cleaning was not done properly, hence toilet bowls remained dirty. Site lacked maintenance, however, the location almost compensated for the faults so I would not rule out looking at this site but note points above.
