We had a great weekend at Etherley Farm. We were quite a large group with lots of young children and it was the perfect venue (helped by amazing weather). Sitting around a camp fire in the evening was a joy.
Facilities are basic but that is a large part of the charm. Note to anyone complaining about animal noises and smells. You are camping on a farm. The clue is in the name!
Normally I like set pitches but the 'pick the spot you like' approach here really works. The main field does have quite a slope to much of it so the top field (often used for DoE etc) is a better bet if you have a few tents and everyone wants to be level.
The surrounding area is stunning. We went to the Plough Inn in Coldharbour for lunch on the Sunday and it was excellent. Good place to park the car and walk up Leith Hill too.
We'll be back.

Just returned from our first visit to Etherley Farm and WOW what a site! Real back to basics camping with basic facilities. The site was reasonably busy for the Bank holiday weekend, but the toilets and showers were clean and sufficient. The fresh eggs and poultry were delicious and there are a number of footpaths leading directly from the site in all directions - we chose to spend Saturday walking up to Leith Hill Tower. The chance to have a camp fire in the evening was too good to resist. Our children (6 & 8) were never bored throughout the weekend and there was space for them to run and play. Highly recommend.

We were grateful that this farm site was open during the wet spring. The field was understandably muddy, but we had the flexibility to find a spot which worked for us. Farm produce was available, and in the evening we walked along the road to The Parrot pub in Forest Green.
Portable loos and showers were heavily used, with a DoE group there, but we were able to work it out. Campers should remember that this is a functioning farm, with the obvious sights, sounds, and smells.

This is a real 'camping on the farm' experience and in a lovely location close to the beautiful Leith Hill. We had a weekend there with lots of rain, so unfortunately the field was excessively muddy - but there was nothing anyone could do about that!
We were so impressed with the high standard of cleanliness of the toilets and showers - and despite the terrible weather, they were kept spotlessly clean - staff were in and out continually keeping the facilities to a very high standard.
We were surprised the toilets weren't portable loos - they were actual proper flushing toilets with loo roll and soap. The 3 shower cabins had nice hot water and plenty of space for the whole family to dress in afterwards.
Being right next to the farm (chickens, geese, sheep, ducks, turkeys, etc) obviously generated a lot of clucking and quacking throughout the night. I found this quite soothing. However, as a somewhat insomniac,
I was slightly irritated by the 3 cockerels who started cock-a-doodle-dooing from 3. 45am onwards! The rest of my party blissfully slept through this, so I would recommend ear plugs for the light sleepers - either that or camp away from the animals!
The farmer was very friendly and welcoming and the produce in the shop looked inviting - we'd brought our own supplies on this occasion so didn't sample the fare.
It was lovely being able to cook on an open fire - quite a rarity these days and certainly makes for a satisfying camping trip.
So if you're after a rustic, chilled out, basic camping experience in a lovely part of Surrey, this is your place!

A large open field situated in the depths of the Surrey countryside on a working National Trust poultry farm. Very quiet except for the rural noise of the assorted poultry - might be bothersome at dawn if you're a light sleeper.
Very basic but clean facilities, toilets & showers. Once booked in you are left to sort yourself out.
The shop sells hen & duck eggs, poultry meats & sausages, charcoal, disposable bbqs & sometimes local honey & preserves. The produce is fantastic - I always buy my Xmas turkey here.
Fires are allowed - a big bonus.
This campsites attracts family groups as children are free to roam - the road is several fields away.
The nearest pub is The Parrot in Forest Green, 15 mins walk through the woods. There are 3 pubs in Ockley, but I wouldn't recommend the walk as the road is fairly busy and cars drive fast.
There's lots of good walking from the site & several waymarked routes, one of which goes to the top of Leith Hill, the highest point in Surrey.

Just got back from a 1 night trip with some friends to Etherley Farm. It's a fairly easy find with a map and has two large fields for camping.
Reception was very friendly and helpful so we were set up with tents pitched and fire roaring fairly quickly. Overall the site is really good. Very clean toilet/shower block in the main camping field and we chose a nice spot in the corner next to the woodland which surrounds most of the farm.
As has been pointed out by others this is a working poultry farm. So you will hear geese chattering away during the night (Although it didn't effect my sleep!) and until around 11pm we could hear a Band/Dj from an event somewhere in the area (Probably just a loud party half a mile down the road)
Overall It was a great place to camp, although slightly less secluded feeling than other sites I have used so far this year. I would guess that the music was just a one off though so don't let that put you off!

I booked late on just before the Jubilee weekend. I wanted to take my 2 young children for two nights of the bank holidays. We arrived to a most beautiful spot nestled under 'Leith Hill' and its tower (well worth the visit, the kids can build stick dens which kept my 2 entertained for ages!).
The site was half full but plenty of space to choose from which suited us as we pitched near to where other children were playing. This led to the parents joining for a jubilee beer or two! The owner was very helpful and friendly. They also sell farm produce; eggs, duck sausages, meats etc. Also firewood and small BBQ's.
The shower blocks and loos were not very plush but well intended, meaning that the soap and creature comforts were in place in a improvised manner! they were clean too.
The pitches were fine. The countryside is a real treat. The Parrot pub is about 15 mins walk from the site. The Inn on The Green (which was excellent and worth a 5/5 on Trip Advisor for food, service and ambience etc) is a three minute drive.
The owners are laid back about camp fires too. The site is part of a real working farm and I would describe it as 'rustic' in all respects so don't expect anything close to glamorous. They just let you get on with it. However, if you want a proper camping experience with friendly owners, a stunning location, fabulous walks and a good local pub then you cannot not go wrong here.

Etherley Farm is a short walk from picturesque Leith Hill and they offer camping on two of their fields.
For £7 per night for adults (£4 for kids) you get to camp out, with full use of their toilets, hot showers and washing up areas, and can also have a campfire.
Toilets and showers are well stocked and the site is clean and safe, though as it is a working farm there are signs posted explaining that visitors must *not* enter the working farmyard area.
This is clearly fenced off, but something to consider if taking young children who could wander. Etherley Farm represents good quality and great value.
Anyone expecting the Ritz is deluded, but I struggle to think of what more you could reasonably expect for the price!

A great rustic working farm camp site.
We only stayed a couple of nights but enjoyed the relaxed setting.
The facilities were a little low key, but were clean and suitable for the site.
The shop had a great selection of Farm produce such as eggs and meat products for the BBQ.
It's a great site for wanting to get back to basics and enjoy the simpler things in life. Looking forward to returning.

The most beautiful location you could wish for, tucked away with no traffic noise whatsoever.
It is a basic campsite with portaloos and the showers could be a bit hotter but were clean.
Owners really friendly and sell the most delicious meat for your barbecue.
Campfires are allowed and you can buy your wood from the site owners. The walks around the site are amazing and you can go or miles without seeing anyone.
We have been a few times now but would visit every weekend if we were allowed to take our dog.
This is a real gem of a place which I would really like to keep a secret!
