The site was great for us, 2 kids, 4 and 6 yrs old - I agree, 5+ is better, our younger one didn't stray far and we were grateful she didn't from a supervision point of view. The older one was off and away, enjoying the freedom. We loved the fact that for most of our trip, every tent had kids, it made us feel better about not having an eye on ours for every single second. The last night was a let down - a party of 11 adults was on the pitch adjacent to us, they partied until 2am. Loudly. Not the sites fault exactly, but seriously, allowing a party of 11 adults on a single pitch of a site aimed at families? Sort it out Embers! Other than that, it suited us well. We were able to drive to within level walk of campsite, and trolleys were provided. I think perhaps because we arrived at a quieter time. Rustic feel, access to the farm and dipping ponds, small size and fire pits won it for us, along with friendly staff. We'd go back, no doubts.

Positive: Friendly employees. A rather quiet place (if you do not mind hearing your neighbour snoring in his tent and children being children). Facilities are clean(enough).
Negative: Facilities are far away from the pitches, only two showers for each gender and a tiny place to do the dishwashing. Cars can not be parked at the pitch, so everything has to be in the tent (or one keeps going back and forth between car and tent). The pitches are rather small - the owner probably thought if there are no cars, they do not have to be large. I do not agree. One is uncomfortably close to the neighbouring tent.
The Campsite was described on their website as a 'magic place', therefore we did accept the very high price compared to other campsites. It was 20 Pounds per person, not - as one would expect - per pitch. I can not find this price justified.

An unexpected treat to be staying on a farm! A really lovely campsite based in the heart of the New Forest. Only takes tents and has no electric hook ups which suited us perfectly. Campfires allowed in very nice fire pits. We were warmly welcomed by Zoe (who has amazing customer service skills) who showed us the choice of pitches available to us. Trolleys available to take gear to pitch. We pitched in the middle row of the orchard, only a short walk to the water supply. The shower block was new and cleaned daily. The loos and washing up area were part of the education buildings, which were also cleaned daily. There was a freezer in the washing up area for freezer blocks only. Firewood is available to buy and the small shop sells eggs, bacon, milk etc. This site has HUGE potential, it is amazing already but they could think big and consider eco showers, toilets and washing up areas up in the campsite, it was a two minute stroll to go to the loo. The whole family loved the farm visit, feeding pigs, milking goats and collecting eggs. The farm animals were available for us to look at any time, so our morning and evening routine was to stroll around the farm. The adventure playground was a hit with our six and three year old but adult supervision was needed with our younger child, I mainly watched them from a distance finding a log to perch on in the lovely vegetable patch. Will be going back for sure!

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the guys at embers beaulieu, from the moment we arrived until we left we were made to feel welcomed and the total experience was very relaxing.
It was my daughters first experience of camping and it has left a really positive impression on her. She loved feeding the animals, and made loads of friends though we only stayed for one night! (again the staff were so helpful. Normally they ask for a two night stay minimum but upon explaining why we were coming they allowed a single night visit-thank you again for this!)
The site had spacious pitches and the fire pit really made the evening something to remember.
I also really appreciated the cars being parked away from the campsite, keeping it serene and peaceful, although that does mean a short trek with your belongings to the campsite, but it wasn't far.
All in all I rated it highly and will be visiting again for sure!

What a smashing site. We had a lovely time at Embers. The welcome from them was warm and friendly and they were both exceptionally helpful.
The site itself is very special. Set off the Beaulieu Road, behind the Countryside Education Trust Centre, which is part of a working farm with pigs, sheep, ducks, rabbits and other animals the camping field is at the back of the site up a short incline and overlooking stunning meadows and rolling hills.
The site caters for around 40 pitches, each with their own firepit and adequate space for a large family tent. The really nice thing is that cars are not allowed in the camping field, so no engines running or headlights beaming! Although for those with mobility issues, getting your kit from the car to the field will be a challenge as its about 100m between the two and includes a short walk up a fairly steep incline. Embers provides karts though to assist the movement of your kit. Which so long as people don't hog them are a great help!
Shower / Toilet / washing-up facilities on the site are good quality and regularly cleaned. For the size of the site, there are enough, but a couple more showers per gender wouldn't be a bad idea, particularly if the site is busy, but if you choose your moment you'll be fine.
The meadow behind the pitches is available to play in. My kids loved running around in the field. There is also a small woodland walk and adventure playground which the kids loved.
They provide a small shop at the reception area which stocks the breakfast essentials and some other basics. And for £3 each the kids enjoyed a full hour of feeding the animals and working with the farmer on site.
We stayed a weekend, 3 adults and 4 children and all had a smashing time. It is a little expensive when compared with other sites and the minimum two night requirement is limiting, but we wanted somewhere we could have and cook on an open fire which is rare these days in many sites. Overall a great weekend and I wouldn't hesitate in booking again!

Magical.
Best bits. Lovely pitches in an orchard setting. Campfires. Farm animals. Friendly staff. You're a good minute or so from the loos and car park. No caravans or campervans. No electric hook ups. No loud music. Just peace and quiet and charm and innocence. Perfect for kids (although I didn't have mine with me the ones that were there reminded me of summers when I was a child).
Worst bits. None, except the fact that I had to leave (understandably because of the farm location) Darwin my border collie at home. He would have loved it too.

I took my 7 year old to this site our first camping trip, we were looked after so very well. Its on a farm so feeding the animals by guided tour from the farmer was a highlight, as was being able to toast our marshmallows over our own fire pit. There is a rather steep hill to climb to get to the camp site, but they have trollies to help you up the incline - All are very welcoming and everything has been well thought out and catered for. Thank you for such a great trip and we will most definitely be returning in the future!

We stayed at Embers for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We were met by friendly staff who showed us to the pitches and gave us a tour of the site. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly throughout.
Each pitch has its own personal fire pit and plenty of space to cook and relax. The site is set on a farm which is great for children with feeding sessions available each day.
The fantastic village of Beaulieu is a 10 minute walk away with donkeys, horses and other animals roaming freely! There are lots of places to eat and to pick up an iced cream as well as a post office and village shop for all the essentials.
There is running water, showers and toilets on site which were cleaned on a regular basis. The reason for a 7/10 for facilities is because the showers were a little cold.
All in all a fantastic new campsite which I would recommend without reservation.

We chose Embers for our ‘Dads and Lads’ weekend really because it looked a small family orientated site, where you could have a camp fire and because it was located in farmland.
We really weren’t disappointed. The setting in an orchard was wonderful and I liked the fact the site wasn’t too large (there were around 14 tents in the orchard during our stay).
The campsite is within the Countryside Education Trust site so look out for the sign to the Trust as you come down the Beaulieu road, the Embers sign is not obvious.
We were greeted by a gaggle of geese from Home Farm and Murray who was staying on the site with his family the weekend we were there. Both he and his wife were very friendly and helpful.
I initially thought it was a drawback that you couldn’t get the cars near the pitches (you have to park around 100m away) but in the end I realise what a plus point it was to have the cars out of the way and it made for a much more pleasant atmosphere in the orchard. The walk up and down with umpteen bags kept me fit as well!
The toilet/washing facilities were just what you needed for a short trip but I’m not sure how they’d cope if the site spilled over into the hay field and was full to the 40 pitches advertised.
Our boys are all aged between 5 and 8 and they had a fabulous time. What I particularly liked was how safe the site was and that we could let the boys run in the hay field, make dens in the woodland or go down to the playground and you knew they were never too far away. We could just relax knowing they were enjoying themselves. They loved making some new friends and just being outdoors all weekend. There really was so much for them to do on the site we had to force them to go for a walk to Beaulieu and the river by bribing them with an ice-cream!
The site would still suit younger children but you’d have to keep a watchful eye on them as there is a small pond on the site. I would say the site is really ideal for 5 to 12 year olds.
A real winner with the boys was the offering of feeding the animals at Home Farm and ‘Farmer Will’ did a fantastic job. He pitched everything he said just right; when my eldest asked him if the cows had names he was very honest and said no as they weren’t pets and that one day they would be slaughtered to ‘make hamburgers’. It was good the boys got to hear first-hand what a farm was for. I took a video and have some lovely memories of the boys feeding the cows, mucking out the pigs, stroking day old chicks, holding baby rabbits, bottle feeding the lambs and milking the goat.
Having the farm on the doorstep is a real asset and a visit is must for all children, ours loved it so much they wanted to go again the following morning! Priced at £3 a head for well over an hour on the farm it is just something kids and adults alike must do.
Of course the fire pits were a great idea and one of the main reasons we chose Embers in the first place. There is something magical about having a real fire and the kids loved toasting marshmallows and the dads enjoyed a few glasses of wine chatting around the warmth once the little ones were in bed. Again, I think Murray has pitched the price of a box of logs (£5) just right and including some kindling was a good touch.
So all-in-all I think Murray has the perfect formula at Embers and I would thoroughly recommend this site for a long weekend away with the children.
We will certainly be back.

In a good location near the top of a hill with an open field to play in and some woodland to explore. The surroundings are interesting, and interesting in a positive way. The owner [or manager] is also very friendly and helpful too.
So why the lower ratings?
Two things marked the site down heavily. First the toilets are some distance away - a good few minutes walk. The brand new shower block is next to it too. While the latter is not a problem, walking to the toilets in the dark is. Fortunately it did not rain. The original route involves going through the outdoor centre garden and coming back I missed a turning a few times. The path is narrow and involves a bridge and then steps up through a small wooded area. A second route was opened subsequently that is more direct and knocks off a minute. But if you are at the other end of the field that is still some walk and having to negotiate a few tents laid out in a disorderly fashion might not be that appealing. The toilets are not modern but then are in a purpose-built block.
The car park where unloading takes place of equipment is also a few minutes walk and involves the same incline - so the last 100-plus yards will see you carrying stuff through the same wooded area. [And back again. ] Subsequently a second path was opened up which still involves carrying equipment a small distance, dependent on tent location. No cars on the field here. In the rain this walk may be not pleasant.
I did not mind so much the walk to the shower, if only because it was not done in the middle of the night. The block itself is very new and contains two showers per gender which are free. There is no heat control in the shower but there is a door for privacy. The block also has basins with mirrors.
The camp site sells itself on allowing open fires. It provides the fire pits and also wood at £5 per batch, which includes kindling wood [It says not to bring your own as it may contain nails, etc, but the kindling wood we got had screw in it. ] All in all having an open fire was a good way to light up the night and cook food.
It is an out of town centre during the week, so the camp site is open at weekends and long weekends. However you still get to appreciate some of the facilities there, including seeing a wide range of animals and a great garden, some of which is for vegetables. There is the option to feed the animals at a small cost. The area itself is wooded with paths through the woods and the children on-site seemed to enjoy this too. Also on-site is a small shop which contains a few basics. I am sure the site would bring in something special if ordered. The whole site seems suited to children and while there there were many, so I can imagine it might be quite popular with young families.
The camping field is a new orchard. The trees are labelled for identification but they might be too close when grown up further as they are a few. It has doubled up as a sheep's field before, as evidenced by the occasional dried droppings and the amount of wool. Next door is a small field with two rams in also.
Location-wise, it is relatively easy to find and the busy road through Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst can be avoided if coming from the east. The site is on the edge of the village of Beaulieu and cows and ponies wander freely around the village but not on the site. The motor museum is also very close although one morning the speakers from a special event broke the peace. It is also under the flight path of Southampton airport when there is an easterly/southerly blowing but there are few planes. Other tourist spots are nearby and open heathland of the New Forest is 15 minutes walk away.
Finally, as mentioned, the staff are friendly and willing to help.
The site is tent only.
If the toilet and unloading issues could be sorted I would consider a return stay.
