Just visited this site for a one night stay, it had been a while since we had the tent out so decided to pick a site and go!
Was very worried about the plane noise as stated in other reviews, We have 2 children 4 and 2 and was concerned about them being woken in the night.
As it goes it was absolutely fine, in fact the only annoying thing about the planes was that I had to keep running out with the kids everytime one took off so that we could wave. (if you have little ones boys especially, the planes could be an advantage rather than disadvatage) By the time we had been there for a few hours the it just became background noise and they certainly didn't keep us awake at night.
The Toilets were very clean, The hot water was very hot and the cold very cold.
The lady in the site office (owner maybe) was very pleasent to deal with,
We were allowed to choose our pitch and picked a lovely corner plot surrounded by bushes.
I would definitely recommend this site and with it being 20 minutes away will be using it several times through the summer for those nights where you want to get away but don't want the hassel of the long drive.
All in all a very nice site.

Location location location is what it is all about with this site.
We stayed for a weekend as we were attending a race meeting at the circuit. You walk out of the site and straight into the paddock, couldn't have been better.
The facilities were reasonable. The loos were full of cobwebs and the walls were filthy but the sanitary wear itself was clean. The showers were £1 for 5 minutes which is plenty, and they were lovely and hot. During race weekends they offer food in the campsite bar - the menu was limited and the food was expensive but, somewhat surprisingly, it was of a good standard. There is a lot of noise from the nearby East Midlands airport, with planes taking off at all hours of the day and night so ear plugs are required if you want to get any sleep.
It is relaxed in terms of pitches; we were told to pitch where we liked. However someone arrived later and pitched rather closer to us than we were comfortable with. I asked the site staff what their license said in terms of distance between units and got some blank stares. Eventually someone came to take a look, and told me that there has to be 6 metres between units, but there was probably four metres between us and our neighbour so that was ok.
So it wasn't ideal but we will forigve a lot for the location and so we will be back to this site.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of the Download Festival RIP package. We were very impressed indeed with the cleanliness and efficiency of the staff. The toilets were equipped and clean at any time during a 24 hour period. There was a little shop selling anything you might've forgotten. The cooked breakfast in the barn each morning was excellent! The site itself is really pretty and easy to get to. I'd highly recommend this site and will definitely be back next year.

I would agree with the other reviews about this site. A pleasant site with adequate facilities which we used as a 1 night stopover as it was handy for the M1. Melbourne village, or town, is just down the road which is quite smart and has a cracking pub on the main street as well as a chinese takeaway which you will need to ask directions for. We found the site VERY noisy early on Sunday morning with passenger planes taking off every 4 mins and the market traffic trundling by so expect an early rise.

Went there for a car show with a few others. We had a grass area to the east of the farmhouse by a small cottage. Toilets had been converted from old stables or some such thing and though looked dated they where very clean and hot water was available as well. Showers is by a £1 token and one is more than enough for a nice hot shower. Owners are very helpful as well. Our pitch was away from the main area and near the main road, and yes it can be noisy at times with constant aircraft and noise form the race track. But still not that bad that its unbearable If going in my Caravan I must confess it would not be my choice. Its clean well kept and friendly but its a bit to close for comfort if your not going to the track and the car boot stalls and market traders do set up rather early and make a good bit of noise I would say it would be used by people going for events at the race circuit or one night stop over, never seen anyone stay longer that a night unless going to the track.would go back if there was something on at the track I was attending, but otherwise it would be some other site

April 2005 Campsite is very pleasant, facilities are not bad and a great location, especially for the race circuit! There are pubs within a mile to two miles walking distance too. Not far from the M1 either.
A word of warning for all (tent)campers though... my partner and I arrived for a saturday night stay and were directed to the top right of the campsite (near the paddock entrance to the race circuit) this wasn't a problem. HOWEVER, the owners failed to disclose that the market traffic arrives at 4am to set up for the sunday market and uses the road directly above the campsite (literally a foot from our heads.) There were a combination of artic lorries, vans, cars etc doing at least 40 mph past our heads from 4am to 6.30am, and i can safely say that the proximity of the airport and air traffic was NOT the problem at all. Tent owners BEWARE of this campsites noise problems. Ask to be situated at the bottom of the grounds - nearer the facilities and away from the noise. Apart from that I would reccommend the campsite!

September 2004 As a 1st time camper I was very impressed with the facilities, the site is split into 2 main fields the larger having plenty of power hook ups and a small field for tents. Toilet blocks were spotless and very well lit. There is a good pub on site which is part of the main hotel, with good cask ale you can also buy essentials like milk etc. In any case the town of Melbourne is 5 minutes drive away and it has a good supermarket.
If you are there for the motor racing which is a 5 minute walk away (depending on where you are pitched) you can leave the car on site for a small fee this avoids the traffic coming out of the track.
Only bad point and this is not the fault of the site is the aircraft noise due to the airport being a mile or so away so pack ear plugs :-)
I will certainly use this site again and would reccomend it
