What a great place, this was our first visit and will not be our last. A little gem on the edge of a town, next to the countryside and Elvaston. Brenda and her son made us very welcome. The facilities were inspected regularly, clean and tidy. It is a great site for exploring Derby, the Peak District or if you just fancy, walking / cycling / fishing. It was quicker to walk into Borrowash for pubs, restaurants, co-op, etc than it was to go in the car. A short walk to Elvaston Castle and you are in a great Country Park that allows the kids and the dogs plenty of exercise, and you are also on the National Cycle Route.

This was the first time we have stayed at this site and will certainly be back. Brenda the warden told us how to enter the site and to choose a pitch as we were the only ones booked in. Pitched near the toilets and set up, didn't take any levelling as ground is flat. The site is surrounded by the river on 3 sides. Brenda came to check that we were settled in okay, nothing is too much trouble for her and is always on hand. There are 2 toilets and Brenda is putting in an application for a shower block. There is a village with a co-op, cafe, restaurants, chemist, DIY and other shops just a short walk away. There is also a pub a short walk away that serve meals. There is an Asda about 10 minutes drive away. There are some nice walks round the site and Elvaston castle is just 15 minutes walk. We will definitely be back in the summer. This is a very popular site.

Our first trip in the caravan and what a lovely introduction into caravanning. A lovely site surrounded on 3 sides by water, felt very safe and secure. My first few attempts at reversing onto the pitch were pants, up stepped the lads from the Notts 4x4 response team and we were on, thanks lads. Took our time in setting everything up then had a wander around. Toilet block very clean and adequate, plenty of room between pitches everything was Bob on. Brenda, the warden, is an absolute joy nothing to much trouble. Didn't have to rush around on departure day left at our leisure. Good dog walks, our great Dane loved it as we attended a great Dane meet up at elvaston castle on the Sunday(about a mile from site), 10min walk into town, plenty shops for supplies. Will definitely be back, Brenda your a star made our first visit truly enjoyable. John, Jody, and jorji the Dane.

We have stayed at this site 3 times now and it is absolutely brilliant. Brenda the site owner lives on site and makes everyone very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for her. As has been said in previous reviews the facilities are basic but are kept scrupulously clean.

On our last visit Brenda told us that she was currently saving hard to get a shower unit installed on site, subject to planning permission. This would make what is already a great site even better.

If you are in the area give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Randomly arrived yesterday for one night. Marvellous location; close to Elvaston Castle park, useful shops nearby, quiet, river and fishing, dog friendly, very friendly and helpful warden, cheap, and basic but clean toilet facilities. Would definitely recommend. In the future it would be fantastic to see showers too!.

Just returned from this delightful site which is set among streams and waterfalls close to the river Derwent. Facilities are basic but there are hook-up points and (unusually) digital TV points. The toilet block is basic but adequate and there are chemical and grey waste disposal points. Pity there is no recycling though. Nice range of shops within 20 minutes walk and Elvaston Country Park is a short walk away. Good fishing in the nearby river. Charming lady warden with caravan on site. Reasonable prices, some pitches without hook-up are even cheaper. We shall be back!

This was our 3rd time at this new site and again another great welcome, Welcomed by the owner, felt very welcomed. No rush when our stay was over, no time limit to move on, unlike campsites very close. Felt safe and secure, site has a lot of Potential and I am sure will be a great site in the near future for all, great prices, again a lot cheaper than sites near by. A very secure site. Well worth a visit
