We're just on our last night over the Easter break and we are very impressed. The pitches are well maintained and we have plenty of room. The site is very quiet and we haven't been kept awake by excessive lighting. The toilets/showers are lovely and clean. We had problems on pitch 6 getting our T25 camper level but the staff were helpful and gave me some timber to sort the problem. The site is on the edge of the Forest of Dean and perfect for walks. Although a local pest we regularly saw wild boar!

This site is in a wonderful location with walks into and views over the Forest. It's quiet, clean with excellent facilities and the owner is very friendly. You can hear wildlife and hooter from the little steam train in the Forest. There are 2 village shops selling everything you need and 2 pubs -in one of which you are guaranteed good food and the landlady is very welcoming - all within walking distance. Plenty of trails for walking or cycling. When you come into the site there is a lovely area which is planted with trees and shrubs to minimise the industrial look of the reception area. Behind the barn though, where the hard standing area for motorhomes is situated, there are planted tubs to try to make it look more attractive (and of course you can turn your back to look at the rest of the site) but I'm afraid it doesn't. It's like a car park and it's horrible which is such a shame as it lets this otherwise wonderful site down badly. Hence only 7/10

Stayed for 3 nights, loved it, so quiet, adults only. Showers and toilets spotlessly clean. Free washing machine and tumble dryer nice touch. Forest literally on your doorstep. Views from the hard stand area beautiful and you can pitch any way making most of the views. Plenty of space. Owner was lovely and friendly. Dog loved the freedom of the forest. Took a nice walk to a local pub and had a good meal, Would definitely return if in the area again.

Fantastically quiet adults only site with amazing views over the Forest of Dean with a gate on site straight into the forest. Facilities are very clean and good (including free washing machine and tumble drier). Site does feel a bit industrial upon arrival but this is due to a conference facility at the gates, no impact on camping. You have the option on the way you wish to pitch and the views over the forest are well worth looking at. A great site with good access to the rest of the Forest of Dean. We certainly plan on returning.

Excellent views over the forest of Dean and good dog walking directly from the site. The wild boar make a bit of a mess so best take welly boots. Site facilities are clean and well kept but perhaps insufficient number of shower units etc. At busy times. AS a creature with high expectation I look forward to being able to book another stay in 2016.

There is a hut just inside the gate which you assume is the reception but this does not appear to be manned at any time. A note on the table gives three phone numbers to ring, two of which are mobile numbers, but we were unable to reach anyone. If you are unsuccessful with the phone then you have to go to the house to check in. Once you are checked in the owners are very much in the background and not proactive even to the point of not saying hello when you bump into one in the toilet block.

Motorhome pitches are basically a car park, not very inviting particularly if like us you are in the corner meaning you have a three foot wall on two sides of your pitch and trees blocking the view which is glorious if you are in a tent or caravan but nonexistent in our case. Also not a good pitch when busy and you have a van at the side and in front of you.

Toilets and showers were very good but needs more washing up sinks. Two are not sufficient when site full. Only one household type washing machine and tumble dryer, both very small but they were free to use.

Overall a nice pleasant site but it just felt lacking in a warm welcome.

Just come back from this fantastic site. Well located for lots of the Forest of Dean attractions, with access from the campsite directly in to forest for walking or cycling. Local shops are well stocked and within walking distance, and larger shops such as Co-op easily accessible within 10 - 15mins drive. The site itself is spotless! No matter what time of day or night, the shower and kitchen blocks were faultless, and the grounds are incredibly well kept. Previous reviews mention the site being on a slope so hard to pitch tents, but the owners have paid attention to this by levelling the pitches. We have a large 8 man tunnnel tent and had no problems pitching, and the spaces were very generous with amazing views over the forest. Lots of thought has gone in to balancing fun for children with relaxation for adults - there is outdoor play space with a football goal and basketball at the far end of the site, and a brilliant play barn with pool, bouncy castle, ride on tractors etc. Definitely worth a visit - we're already looking at options to return later in the year!

Just returned from a night at the site. Went on nice mid September weekend. Site was lovely. Extremely well kept with beautiful views over forest. Toilets and facilities were immaculate. Was quiet when we went, so can't comment on what it would be like during busy times. Great for walkers and people wanting to chill out. Play barn for children was a nice idea with bouncy castle which my 4 year old loved, I had a quick bounce too!

Can't think about any negatives really. A small shop would have been nice maybe !

As a new site, I'm sure it will continue to develop and will become a favourite with many.

We visited here with our children for 4 days. The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable about the area, and gave recommendations for places to go and to eat. The toilet and facilities are amazingly spotless and well maintained. They seem to have thought of everything - even a step for little ones to reach the sink! Our children loved the location - on the edge of the forest so they could explore for animals! There is a nice indoor play area for children but my children were a little old and needed to be careful of younger ones which the area was more suited for. There is a nice open area with a goal and basket ball hoop at the back of the site. There is a lovely pub called the Rising Sun which is about a 5 minute drive away. The site has a strict early arrival policy so plan your arrival time carefully!

I stayed at Deanwood with my daughter and 5year old grandson, the first time he had been away in the van! The site was spotlessly clean in all areas. The views were fantastic, the play barn was a huge hit and the management were welcoming and friendly. As requested, the site was quiet between 10. 30pm and 7. 30am and I would definitely recommend this site to anyone wanting a relaxing, peaceful time-yet there was something for the youngsters to do too. The Forest of Dean has so many attractions for visitors, as well as walking and cycling.
