We stayed here over Easter weekend as it was near by and wanted to explore different parts of the forest we already visit regularly. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival views were as good as the pictures. Had a bit of trouble pitching up as pitch wasn't very level but we managed kids slept well but us not so as were sliding off camp bed. Hot showers were great and washing up area and laundry areas very good. The playbarn is a fabulous idea our kids thought it was great especially on the Sunday when the rain arrived just as we were packing up. Will be visiting again have recommended to a few Friends.

We stayed here for the first week of the Easter holidays. 2 adults, 4 kids (16 x 3, 9).
The staff were very polite, knowledgeable, welcoming and sociable. Clean throughout and still expanding. Key coded gate was safe but locked at 10:30pm and re-opened at 7:30am, didn't bother us though as we didn't stay out late.
Beautiful views, scenery and walks. Clean facilities, washing machine, dryer and freezer. Recreational field ok, play barn was brilliant if you had smaller children - bouncing castle, hoppers, trikes, skittles, doll house and Lego. They also had sports hall but can't comment as we didn't use.
Hard standing area was like a car park and all pitches seemed very close together. Some grass pitches were on slopes.
Tesco 10 mins drive, post office and small but well stocked shop 15 mins walk. Puzzlewood is worth a visit. There are many things to do around area and they have plenty of leaflets advertising these but we didn't do this time around as we've already done in previous years.
In my opinion, this would be a 10/10 park if :-
It had wifi for the older kids
Outdoor park and maybe some tarmacked area (for kids scooter, learning to ride bikes etc) maybe on recreational field
Few benches scattered around for views
More sinks - two is not enough - especially when the expansion is complete
Good all round up and coming site and would definitely visit again. We paid £31 per night.

First visit to this site, very impressed. One of he best sites we have stopped in. Amenities second to none very clean and modern, a credit to the owners. Good site for children. Miles of walks in the forest. Plenty of wildlife will go again. Owners very sociable

My partner Mark and I stayed at Deanswood Caravan Park last Saturday 1st February and were very impressed with the site overall.
The pitch allocated was clean and level and the shower block facilities were very clean with plenty of hot water available too.
The site was relatively empty which suited us fine.
We would certainly be happy to return to this site again during the winter months.

We stayed here on 30th and 31st Dec. Made very welcome when we arrived. Our pitch was hardstanding, with outstanding views. I think we were the only ones staying here at the time, lovely and quiet. Shower/Toilet block was spotless, with washing up facilities, washing machine on hand as well. Also Chemical waste disposal in vacinity.
The Forest was right next to the site and had a good walk in the afternoon. Was warned about the Wild Boar, but didn't encounter any !
Visited the Baily Inn on New Year's Eve (about 15 mins walk) A good friendly atmosphere, we had a good time.
Overall, enjoyed our time at the site and during the Summer, it benefits with an indoor play area/Sports hall.

I stayed here with my girlfriend and 2 year old daughter, weekend of 13th September 2013.
The location is excellent. A couple of pubs and shops nearby, and Lydney just a few miles down the road.
The views of the forest from the site were very pleasant indeed - at least they were after the rain had stopped!
The toilet/shower block was spotlessly clean, which is very important to my girlfriend. There was also a baby changing facility available within the ladies w/c.
The kids playbarn is absolutely brilliant, and is one of the main reasons we chose this site. Please do not get rid of this playbarn!
My only 'improvement suggestion' is that we found levelling the camper rather difficult. Due to the fact that the pitches are on a reasonably steep slope. And they are on gravel, which of course slips under the foot.
Overall, a great place to visit, sensibly priced and we will be back.
Thank you.

We visited this site over the August bank holiday weekend in their first season of operation so everything was in great condition. We had a friendly welcome and were shown to our pitch on the very edge of the site. We found that our pitch was about as sloped as we could tolerate but I would have preferred a more level pitch at the top of the field. Views over the Forest of Dean were absolutely fantastic. Pitch size was ok and as we were at the very edge, we could spread out a bit, which was nice.
Some nice touches in terms of other facilities such as the indoor play barn that had tables too. Useful for young children in poor weather (we were lucky though!) although the age policy isn't enforced and unfortunately some parents chose to leave their older children to run around the barn, intimidating the younger children for whom the facility was designed.
Showers were nice and hot although the washing up facilities were a bit limited for the size of the site. I could imagine a wait for the showers as well for really busy periods but this wasn't an issue for us.

My wife and I and my daughter, husband and child visited this site on Aug bank holiday 2013, with 2 touring caravans.
The location of the site is beautiful with views of the surrounding forest and the black mountains.
While we noticed the camping area for tents was ideal, the hardstanding for caravans was nothing more than 1 large carpark which was sloping so much so that we could not sit in our awning and use the table for eating. The ladies showers were adequate in size but only just, there was no mop and bucket to clean showers after use. The mens had only 2 showers which were not enough for size of camp. Dishwashing area had only 1 sink which was nowhere near enough. Childrens play barn was quite a good facility. The waste disposal point had no hose to clean out waste container, and a lack of drainage by the water point meant it was always wet. As this is a new site it has the potential to improve and become a lovely site.

What a lovely find, phoned at the last minute for a pitch for a couple of nights and the lady was ever so helpful. Arrived and met the owner who showed us to our pitch and explained where everything was.
Whilst we set up the kids went off and explored arriving back with great excitement about the playbarn and basketball. Beautiful views across the forest and very quiet with the odd interruption of the steam trains at Parkend in the distance. The pitch was a good size 10m x 10m which was more than adequate for our small campervan and awning. The hardstanding up the top of the site looked plentiful and would have lovely views again of the forest.
Good walking tracks to the Forest of Dean although we went on our bikes and got to Mallards Pike on a good cycle path. Couple of shops within driving distance at the top of the lane, and had food at the Nags Head (about a 2 min drive or a 1/2 hour walk) which was lovely with extensive views to Berkeley and beyond (only open in the evening for food from approx 6. 30-7. 30/8pm during the week but open most times at the weekend).
Great space for the children to roam and the playbarn is ideal for those murky days with a bouncy castle, ride on toys, space hoppers, small 6 pin bowling, dolls house etc and pool table.
Toilets and showers were lovely and clean (in fact spotless), the womens showers were warm and the water does come out very fast although the boys did say their showers could be a bit hit and miss pressure wise but do the job.
Kitchen and laundry area were great and warm although could probably be a bit crowded at times as only 1 sink.
All in all a lovely site and we will definitely be back.

Beautiful location right next to the forest so wonderful walks were right on the doorstep. Views from the pitch were lovely.
Owners were welcoming and friendly.
Facilities were excellent with very clean shower/toilet block. Showers were hot and included in the price.
Excellent play barn for children with ride on trucks, skittles, space hoppers and bouncy castle.
Badminton court available for hire- we had an enjoyable few hours using this facility when the weather was not so favourable!
Would highly recommend this campsite.
