For the price we paid it was acceptable but during this covid outbreak I don't think the site should be operating
The toilets and shower cubicle was not strict enough there was cleaning clothes in there and bits of spray, no hand wash and a notice for campers to clean up after themselves which I don't mind doing but I'm not going to clean up after someone else. a bucket of dirty water and mop was left in there to do the floor, no bleach and only one sink in one side worked, so if you used the other toilet there wasn't anywhere to wash your hands. water was cold and the pot washing sink was cold too.
We didn't see any owners or staff at all I just think that at this moment in time it should have been more hygienically monitored.

This 5 van site is just outside Penistone, with spectacular views over Langsett Reservoir and surrounding moorland. The facilities are fairly clean but pretty basic - there’s four loos in a portacabin, two of which have showers; a dozen or so hook ups;
Elsan point; and a pot wash in a sink behind the loos - but it’s open to the elements. Parts of the site are sloping, though we had no problem getting level with a chock.
There’s a pub that does food ten minutes walk down the road in Lamgsett, and opposite the pub is Bank View Cafe. The scenery is fabulous and the local walks are just lovely.
It’s £15 per night, the owner responds quickly and helpfully to any queries, and access is easy from either the A616 or A628. We’ll definitely be back!

Me and my Partner visited the site as a last minute booking during the bank holiday weekend as we found ourselves child free.
The telephone call to the owner was pleasant, who gave me directions and instructions once we got on site. I booked an Electric hook up as we were testing out all of our new camping gear so at £30 for the 2 nights during the bank holiday I didn't think that was too bad. At first.
I asked the owner if there were a toilet block, showers and pot washing facilities to which the owner said yes to all.
When we arrived on site I was amazed by the views around us. They were breath taking for someone who can appreciate the scenery. However (and here is where I feel I need to be honest) I was greatly disappointed by the actual facilities.
There was a very old looking porta-cabin which hosted 2 toilets, 1 shower and 1 sink. There were no pot washing facilities at all. I later found out I was supposed to wash my pots in the tiny hand basin within the porta-cabin. Not ideal when dealing with bits of food and then later on brushing your teeth in the same sink.
The porta-cabin was not the safest of construction as the floor had rotten in at the entrance which lead to me nearly breaking an ankle each time I visited the loo. For this reason I have given the facilities only 4 stars as I can book for Park resorts, get entertainment and excellent showering blocks/facilities for less money per night.
Plus side the shower was working and the water was hot.
I did fear that more tents would turn up and then it would be a free for all to use the one and only shower. However there was only our tent plus one other the whole weekend.
The field was large but on a slight hill. This didn't bother us too much as the tent went up fine and we just set up the cooker table level so the food and drinks didn't slide off. Lol
Please note: there are no facilities for children.
There were horses in the next field which made strange noises during the night but apart from that the campsite was deadly quiet. I usually have to sleep with earplugs in when we go to family campsites but I slept through due to how peaceful it was.
The location of the campsite was fab for getting to Manchester so we took a day trip to the City. There is also a pub at the bottom of the road however we didn't visit the pub as we had brought all we needed along with us so I can't say if it served food or not.
All in all we did enjoy our weekend despite the porta-cabin and rubbish bank holiday weather. Cooking our food to that view made it all worth it.
We didn't meet the owner and no one met us on site so we ended up paying another guest through an agreement we made over the telephone.
Even though this review probably sounds really negative (I've not meant to be I just feel that I needed to be honest) we would in-fact return to this campsite, if the owners sorted out the porta-cabin, as the location is beautiful.

Myself my wife and niece visited this site for one night when we couldn't get on a site in holmfirth.
We booked by phone and arrived 40mins later. The owner was very welcoming.
We asked when we arrived what time we had to vacate and the owner said 6pm if you want. The toilets we clean with hot water in washbasins. We had hookup electricity and beautiful views over langsett res.
The Peddlers arm's was 5mins walk down the hill and the now famous Bank view cafe across the road from the pub. All in all a great little gem of a site. We will be back. Thanks!
