We loved this site. The toilets and showers were spotless. Dog friendly.
The pitches are a good size and quite level. It’s not a big site which is what we like.
The farmer and his wife were really friendly and always around to help.
The pub was a 5min walk away with a good selection of food and beer. The walk round the reservoir is great.
Would definitely return and recommend.

2-person Pitch for hiking so slightly bias review.
Booked this site for a hike around Langsett reservoir and couldn’t have asked for a better location.
Originally had concerns of being on a hill from other reviews but in a small tent it wasn’t severe or noticeable. Easily accessible by car and able to park next to your pitch for convenience, didn’t check accessibility for public transport but it isn’t far from Penistone station (1hr walk).
Views are fantastic due to the elevation and only a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive down the reservoir for a longer than expected hike (bring snacks).
Showers and toilets appear to have been upgraded since other reviews and are adequately sized with several water points dotted about although they weren’t clearly visible upon arriving.
Originally booked for a 2 person pitch but was offered a discount when they saw that I was only using a small low profile tent on my own (Vango Hydra 200) and when I enquired about fire pits they had a couple available to hire and luckily I had my own wood.
Beautifully quiet nights sleep with it being away from major roads and with it being away from direct woodland and the local pub (Waggon & Horses) serves several cask ales paired with a loverly menu.
All in all a great little site that I look forward to returning to.
Pros - Ideal if you are travelling light and are looking to take advantage of the local area. Great walks, great pub, great views by the fire.
Cons - Although it is child friendly it is a smaller site on a hill and there isn’t a lot around to entertain younger children without travelling.
100% booking again for a great local getaway later in the year!

Friendly host. Lovely views, nice and tidy
Nice clean shower unit.
Simple site with good local walking.
Local good pub.
Unfortunately site was wet due to recent rainfall.
Owners had taken action and restricted access to soft parts of the field.

We really enjoyed our stay.
The camp site was busy but so calm and relaxing.
The showers and toilets were really nice and able to accommodate everyone.
We didn’t find any glass on the ground, so lovely and safe for the kids.
Thanks so much, hopefully return soon.

We were disappointed with the state of this site, it is really run down, the "toilet block" is in a poor state of repair, there is only one shower, the temperature controls for which are outside the "building"! and when one of the toilets or the shower are in use, there is only access to one toilet.
To be fair to the owners, who have only recently taken it on, they have plans to improve things, and did give me a partial refund. However, they should not charge £25 per night for such a basic site.
We hope they get on with improving the site, which has great potential

Great quiet site in good location. Water was off in the toilet block so no shower and had to flush the loo with our water bottles.
Would return with reduced expectations and maybe not people who need bathroom facilities.
Near a great cafe for breakfast.

The owners are very friendly and relaxed and keep a very tidy site, the grass short and everything well maintained.
This is a high site on the edge of the Pennines.
The walk around Langsett Reservoir is varied and lovely (90 minutes).

Lots of space, clean shower block, friendly owners, great views.
Grass kept short. Good pub down the road.
The site is high and exposed. We had a good time here.
