What a great site, lovely flat large pitches hard standing with grass with plenty of space. Electric hook up posts well lit at night Very clean and well kept. Its a fisherman's dream with well stocked lakes. Only toilet block on site but they are well kept, It was our first visit there but will be making it a regular park. Lovely pub not far away with a well priced menu and excellent food.

Helpful owners who made us welcome.

Well done 'The Oaks'

Having taken up the angling discipline of carp fishing, the Oaks complex was an obvious choice to visit to fish on their main lake for specimen fish. The caravan site has hard standing pitches with EHU, each pitch has a light to illuminate the area around, a chemical disposal point is close by, toilets and a dish washing facility are available.

The facilities on offer are more than adequate if you are able to use your vehicle shower/toilet if staying more than 1 night. During our 4 night stay we found the toilets to be kept clean and replenished with consumables throughout the day.

The caravan site enabled us to use the van facilities throughout the day whilst enjoying the fishing that the complex has to offer. The site is only new this year and with further development planned in the future this will become a very popular location for travelling anglers and people wishing to visit the area.

The only concern I would have is the gray waste being deposited with the chemical waste, the waste point is in a raised area and lifting a heavy waste hog could cause problems to anyone elderly or with a disability.

The Oaks site is an excellent site, the fishing is superb with plenty of advice offered by the staff.

We are now looking forward to a further visit, or maybe two, later in the year.

Stopped at the oaks lakes caravan park for 3 nights. We enjoyed it the views were very good from the caravan. The lakes were lovely to walk round. And the fishing was excellent. The staff was excellent and helpful. The wildlife was good to sit around and watch. I must say I will pass this very lovely fishing and caravan park to every person I no to get away from everything

As a newly opened site The Oaks Lakes is ideal for a peaceful gateway and/or excellent fishing experience. The site itself is set back onlooking the beautiful countryside, so even on match days it does not interfere with stay in anyway, other than you may not be able to fish certain lakes which is expected and does not affect quality of fishing as all lakes are well stocked with a variety of species. Facilities are great for a site which has not been open long with a toilet blocked located just a short walk from site, the pathway is well lit with wheelchair access and disabled toilet. Other facilities such as shower block may be added once site takes off (which it will) as the Caravan Site is a newly added feature to the complex which has been open for over 10 years. Brilliant Tackle Shop and Cafe, very friendly environment. All lakes and 90% of pitches are accessible by car via well maintained routes. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will soon be returning. Highly recommended!

A lovely peaceful Adults only site which we stumbled across and thought we would give it a shot for 2 nights. The pitches are a great size and very level with half grass and half hardstanding you can put your awning on either, unlike many sites where you are back to back with other caravans there is 10 pitches in the corner of a big grass field and we had a view of the hambleton hills. Mary at the Cafe does an amazing Bacon Sandwich next to which is a very busy Tackle Shop which looked like an Aladdins Cave for fishermen. I think as more people find out about this it will be a very popular site for couples wanting a relaxing break.

My wife and I had a lovely break at The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park it is a nice quiet park even on a weekend, the pitches are clean and level, the toilets seem new and are more than adequate for the small site, we had no problem using our shower as there is none on site.

The fishing is excellent and the guys in the Tackle Shop are more than happy to help, looking forward to our return visit in June.

Brand new site and it shows; ideal for fishermen, but not recommended as a general campsite.

This site has excellent access to the fishing lakes, however is not suitable for those looking for a relaxing break. The facilities are poor quality and not on the actual campsite, accessed through a poorly lit path at night and totally unlit until sensor light is activated about six feet away. As the facilities are shared with the general public and are next to the night fishing lake, as a lone female I felt very anxious and vulnerable.

Very little hot water, bad lighting and shared facilities make this site very overpriced at £18 - £20. 50 per night (£23 if booked through external websites)
Management response: We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay our customers are important to us, we do feel that you did not understand that you were staying on one of the North’s most well-known course fisheries with 10 Match and pleasure lakes we will endeavour to make this clearer in our descriptions.

As you pointed out the Caravan Park unlike the fishery is new opening on the bank holiday weekend that you stayed, we hope you are glad to hear that we addressed the minor teething problems you mentioned by adding more lighting near the toilets and increasing the hot water flow however none for our other guests have had any problem with the location of the toilets which are for customers only.

Prices per hardstanding pitch including electricity/ light bollard for 2014 are: Off Peak £16.50 - Peak £18.50 and Bank Holidays £20.50 per night, if you do not book directly with the site you may have to pay agents charges.
