Visited in a VW T25 with awning.
We have been to this site twice, first time in sept 2007 and then again in May 2008. Both times weather was cracking (which always helps!) I have to say that if I had my way I would go here every year. It has good facilities; showers are clean as are the washing up areas. The surroundings of the site are great and handy if you have a dog to take them on a walk near the site. The folks that run the place are pleasant and helpful. It is only a short walk to the Polly joke beach from the site. So in a nut shell it has it all and I'd give it 10 out of 10.

I regularly visited this site between 1993-2002 and so it was going to be interesting going back after a six year absence. I'm pleased to say however, that apart from the addition of electric hook-up points, it hasn't changed one bit, and as it was a great site the first time I stayed, what a relief.
The minus points of this site are that the pitches are not flat and there is no hard standing. The plus points are that the pitches are not flat and there is no hard standing as this means that this sites greatness lies in its aesthetic appeal, there is an attractive lake, much of the site is surrounded by attractive hedging and there is a stark moor to gaze at from your pitch.
The toilets are plentiful and always clean, there are numerous washing up sinks, washer and dryer, iron, microwaves and freezers. Although not open this visit 'Rafters Bar' set in, funnily enough, the rafters of an old barn is without doubt the quaintest bar I've experienced on a campsite.
To add to this fantastic site is its immediate surroundings, there are two of the most wonderful beached within a short walk. There is the understated beauty of Polly Joke tucked away in its little cove and then there is the power of Crantock beach with the ever present white horses rushing in off the atlantic and its fortress like sand dunes. With great views looking down on Crantock beach is the Bowgie pub, a big pub catering for all tastes and while it might not hit the highs it did 10 years ago it's well worth a visit.

We spent a week here in August and would not hesitate to return. The site was busy but I did not feel it was over-crowded. Because we asked for EHU we were on one of the larger pitches so didn't feel hemmed in despite having 2 big tents between us. I'm not sure whether the other tent pitches were as spacious though.
The loo/shower block was always clean and we never had to queue. There was no hot water on the Saturday night we arrived and the water pressure was very low but the owners did put up signs apologising and explaining that it was due to the especially high demand. There was no problem over the rest of the week.
There's a good shop and a nice bar. I noticed a games room too - pool, table tennis (I think), TV.
The site is a stroll away from the village of Crantock which is very pretty with a couple of pubs, a tea-room or two I think,a handful of gifty type shops/galleries and a general store/post office. There's a good beach at Crantock and the lovely Polly Joke beach is within slightly longer walking distance. I think it's also possible to walk to Holywell bay but we didn't get round to finding out.

This is a wonderful site in a beautiful location. I enjoyed it very much. There seemed to be a lot of attention to detail and the site had a feeling of being "cared for". There is a shower block with toilets and also a large room with sinks, washers, dryers, iron, freezer for ice packs, microwaves. There is a well stocked shop which is laid out very pleasantly, and a games room - I understand there is also a bar but I didn't go in it, so I can't say what that is like. There is a small room with a payphone which was very private (and handy as I struggled to get reception on my mobile phone) It's a short walk across the fields to Crantock beach or Polly Joke Beach and some wonderful coastal walk. Many of the pitches had a large picnic table which we found really useful and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. If visiting I would strongly recommend a meal in the nearby Bowgie Inn - views over Crantock Beach are spectacular and the food was wonderful (though not cheap) We enjoyed being able to walk to the beach instead of getting stuck in traffic and then having to pay for parking and having a nice pub nearby was a bonus! I absolutely loved this site and will definitely be visiting again. My only criticism would be that the pitches felt a bit close together and we would have liked a little bit more room. We needed some help from nearby caravanners to manoeuvre our caravan onto the pitch which was positioned in a corner, This however has not put me off, and I'm sure I will visit this site again.

Just returned from spending 8 nights here instead of the proposed one night, basically because it was spot on for what we wanted! Great site and facilities-quiet, but not too quiet, plenty of friendly regulars to make you feel at home, plus great shop and bar for the evenings! Beautiful location, so close to the beach, lovely walks and not too far into Newquay! Would definitely recommend and we intend to visit again, hopefully next year!

July 2004 Fantastic campsite! Sadly our weeks stay was cut short by the awful weather, but will definately return for another crack. Ideal location for beaches and SWC walks. We never got in the car for 4 whole days it was heaven. The layout and the leveled pitches are good and the facilties are very clean and user friendly. I would reccomend this site to anyone, especially if you have a dog and love to walk!

June 2004 Really nice campsite (despite the weather!!). Good sized pitches, easy access to glorious beach, and lots of walks in the dunes and surrounding area. The owners are very friendly and helpful, site kept nice and clean. Free use of picnic benches, freezer, microwaves. Good bar, TV and games room. Nice, quiet, dog-friendly site - will definitely give it a second visit, and would recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet, clean site in beautiful surroundings.

May 2004 My friend and I loved this site. A beautiful and magical location with a nice variety of pitches. Set back from the sea yet only minutes walk. No commercial frills (thankfully) but everything you need in terms of facilities and they were lovely and clean. We're definitely going back.

This is a great campsite to visit. It is a 5-10 minute drive away from the centre of Newquay and is in a wonderful setting in the small town of Crantock.
The site itself is quite large, lovely and clean and the grass there is great. They have fixed mobile homes and a pitch anywhere option for tents and caravans.
There is an old converted barn which houses a bar, there is a games room, great showers and superb washing up facilities too.
There is a lake at one side of the site where ducks swim around and there are some fantastic walks you can take too.
The town is great with a walk along the country lane to a few pubs nearby - one of which looks right out across onto the Atlantic.
I've been there many times now and I use it when I take my car down to Newquay to do some surfing.
It's a quiet, relaxing, safe campsite. I really recommend it.
