We stayed here recently on the first night of a campervan tour of the far north of Scotland. We were warmly greeted by the owners daughter, and later all the family came to say hello and gave us some fresh eggs from their hens.
There is a static caravan whose facilities we could use, which given the weather was most welcome on the chilly April evening.
The site itself is still in its infancy, but don't let this put you off. The owners are doing the work themselves and it is developing all the time. There is a lovely wooden decked 'pavilion' type area with bbq and tables/ chairs next to a pond which on a sunny day would be beautiful. The site is in a tranquil peaceful setting, and the family could not have been more friendly or accommodating.

What a delightful family! I stayed here at the start of a 10 day cycle camping trip through the north west highlands. Pedalling up in the rain, I was greeted with big smiles and such warmth by two of the daughters in their parents' absence. If you like quiet, scenic sites, this is the place for you - the view across to loch Shin is lovely, even when it's blowing a gale! I pitched my tent on soft, dry turf next to the caravan (where toilets and electrical facilities are usually available for campers) but as one of the sons was celebrating his 16th birthday in there that night, the family invited me to sleep indoors, in a lovely cosy flat attached to the back of their house, at no extra charge! It was wonderful to feel so welcome and that is the aim of this site. While they are still in the process of building infrastructure (simple outdoor toilet and shower), they want to be able to offer something different - an individual, personal approach. And so far, they are succeeding! Would definitely camp there again.

Best site we have ever stayed at - mainly due to the smashing family who own it. Although very cold this Easter we slept in our tent (snug) but had use a mobile in evening/early morning which made for a great stay. (No extra charge!) Very welcome donation of some of their home-laid eggs added to the massive success of this two week Munro-bagging holiday. There is about 12 or so within relatively easy reach - well worth the hour or so travel to the more distant ones due to quality of site. (We only intended to stay two or three nights!)

This is a lovely campsite in the making, we stayed for 2 nights and were made to feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. We had the full run of a bathroom and kitchen off an self contained annex on the house where everything was provided. We were given 4 eggs a day for breakfast fresh from their chickens, they also had pigs and sheep, a pond area which would be great for picnics but maybe not in November when we visited. The scenery was stunning and they are centrally located in the middle with easy access to the rest of Scotland with facilities available in the town just up the road, we will look forward to going back to see how this site develops

I stopped at this campsite on my way to the Orkney Islands and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
When I arrived the family wasn't there but the campsite sign made me guess I could remain. The campsite - located behind the family house - is beautiful. You have great views of the hills around, a vast choice of pitches and a little pond area. I particularly enjoyed this detail. It was obviously cared for and the little bridge and deck felt inviting.
When the family arrived, they were very welcoming. Although I was going to use my tent for the night, I was still allowed to use the static caravan for cooking and washing. I really appreciated this as it made cooking much easier than on a little camping stove.
As I had arrived in the afternoon, I had plenty of time to kill. I had cycled all day so I didn't particularly want to explore the area by foot. So I can't comment on the walks you can take around but I'm sure there are some lovely ones. Instead I played with the children of the family and really enjoyed it.
Overall I loved my stay in this campsite. It remains one of the highlight of my trip thanks to the friendliness of the family and the great scenery to fall asleep to/wake up to. I would definitely recommend this campsite to anyone looking to spend a night in the Lairg area (and even if you don't have your tent or caravan, you can still stay in the static caravan).
If you are going to stay at this campsite, note that it is slightly outside of Lairg - where the shops are. Although, I was offered some eggs for breakfast :)

We stayed here whilst doing a bike ride from John O'Groats. We were late arriving after underestimating our ride but they were really understanding and welcoming when we finally arrived.
The campsite is in a lovely and quiet location and is really well priced. We turned up expecting to pitch up our tent but when we arrived they offered us their static caravan complete with a small kitchen, proper bed, hot shower and even some fresh eggs - a lovely surprise!
We couldn't recommend this campsite more, it has everything you need for a great price and the family are really friendly and welcoming.
