Nice and welcoming little site. Had one of the non hook up sites past the pub and a great view. If the wind is in the east (excuse the dickensian quote) then the Sewerage works are not far off opposite and we did get an occasional whiff when the wind was in just the right (or wrong) quarter.
The facilities are a little basic as mentioned but you get plenty of time for your pound token in the shower but there was no lock on the door this weekend.
The pub is great, good beer and food and not exorbitant in price.
There is however a problem with the ferry at the moment and was not running at all and it is a good walk into Tewkesbury (40 mins about right).
Very dog friendly and welcoming.

Very pleasant, no frills, site - just what was needed. Fantastic riverside aspect on the EHU field, and the pub within staggering distance. Didn't use the facilities as we had them onboard, but the CWD could do with some upgrading being a largish pipe sticking up in a fenced off area.
The site is down a long single track no-through road, but it is easy to get past other vehicles by going on the verge - be warned, when we went, there were plenty of potholes in the road, so take it easy.
Tewkesbury is a lovely little town with great 'nik-nack' shops as well as the usual fare. Saturday has a market in one of the carparks. Another place well worth a visit is Ledbury with even more crafty / unusual shops.
£10 for a pitch is fantastic value, and having a pub so close is fantastic. Will definitely go back.

Toilets, toilets, toilets, it needs them. Absolutely lovely location next to the river, but one shower for a field of caravans and a field of tents which continually needed mopping out by the barman. The loos kept flooding up from the drains. The boss lady although very friendly seems to be biting off more than she can chew. Food looked very nice but unfortunately was an long wait, we ordered a portion of chips , waited 45 mins, and asked, but were told the chef hadn't started our order yet as each was done in turn. Could be brilliant though.

I Snuck in a late September weekend camping break here. I'd read previous reviews and wanted to try the place. I would go again, for sure.
For the non hookups, you drive past the pub. Tents can be pitched anywhere on the other side of the tree. A gravel road separates two pitching areas. To the right, you get the best views of the river. To the left, you need to pitch by the trees and hedges for the most level ground. You are more sheltered, but I wish I'd pitched to the right of the road, so I could gaze at the river from time to time. I think this definitely adds to the ambiance.
The pub is lovely, and is indeed very dog friendly. The canine head honcho is a gentle basset hound.
The pub is full of character and has a welcoming real log fire. They do a cracking carvery roast on Sunday - delisHH!
A small amount of maintenance on the lavatories would not go amiss - a lock needed attention, and a couple of hooks and a wall mirror would be nice for shaving. But they were always in a clean condition which is the main thing. The shower cubicle was a generous size with a separate changing area, although again perhaps one more hook would be nice.
As has been said, you can walk (partially along the river) into Tewkesbury. This will take between 30 and sixty minutes depending on ability/speed.
On the meadow of the Camp site, you can enjoy the daring aerial sorties of the Swallows, skimming the surface and whizzing gracefully past within inches sometimes.

We have just returned from a weeks stay here and it was lovely. The pub offers a warm welcome and wonderful views of the river. It is very dog friendly as is the site. Be advised it does get busy at weekends. Lots of walks and footpaths to follow, you can walk into Tewksbury via the footpath which will take about an hour also Tewsbury Abbey is seen in the distance from the camp site. Overall a definite winner in our book

Little to add to previous reviews other than to say that it is still a lovely site in 2010. The landlady of the pub couldn't have been more concerned and helpful, they even sent the ferry to pick us up at a time of year when it wouldn't normally run (50p pp for water taxi service. Wow!).
It took us about 60 minutes to walk along the river bank into Tewkesbury but we did stroll and take many photo's. (Mind you keep the river to your right and do not follow the old course off to your left) Sunday lunch was as good as previously mentioned. At £10.00 per unit (inc. hookup) you can't go wrong.

Just come back from 4 days of peace and tranquillity. Site may be well out of way but is lovely. Grass was a little long but weather has not been conducive to cutting(it was being cut as we left).Pitches nice and flat alongside river lots of boats to watch going up and down river. Ducks and swans to feed. We were there in mid August and only 3 other units. Pub was excellent.Very friendly staff, very good selection of real ales and the food was brilliant. Had a steak meal and the meat comes from local farm and was so tasty. Plenty of villages around and a trip to Gloucester took about 20mins by car. Good to have a look at the old docks and waterways museum.

Stayed here for one night on way down to south west. What a campsite - it's really hidden - but so different. Didn't go in pub but looked great - you can go on a ferry across the river to Tewkesbury which looked good. There are elec hook ups but we didn't use them. Toilets in pub are fine. So out of the way you are nowhere near shops (well you are if you go on the ferry to Tewkesbury). Would definitely go here again but no kids playground but plenty of ducks and geese! It cost us £14.

Just come back from a lovely Easter weekend at The Lower Lode which is in Beautiful surroundings, with pitches at side of the river Seven where you can watch the mysterious Elver fishermen!
They're still recovering from the Floods of 2007 so parts of the site are still under maintenance, but one shower is available in the pub premises at a charge of £1 a token but you do get a decent amount of time. Toilet facilities again are in the pub premises but are still accessible after closing by a coded door, but can get in a mess at times with it being used by the pub, as well as campers.
Pitches are good with well kept grass, but beware of vast amounts of geese poo and they were able to provide us with a tent pitch with electric at a cost of £10 per night, £7.50 without electric, which was good value for a Bank Holiday weekend.
Had a Sunday Carvery which was good and they offered a good selection of Real Ales, and had a new one to try each day. The pub is popular with bikers and we had the opportunity to meet and chat with some.
Tewkesbury is a 5 mile drive from the site and this is where you'll find the closest shops due to the rural location of the site. But plenty of shops to go at, including super markets.
Very pleased, would go again if only to see how the restoration is going.

A fairly level grassy site with great views over the River Severn. Good roads to the site although narrow in some places. Very pleasant pub on site and rowing club across the river so you can watch them rowing while enjoying a beer. Toilets on site for caravanners and tents. There is food served at the pub and the pub also does B & B. It is rumoured that the 'Hamster' from Top Gear lives nearby. Worth a visit.
