This was a lovely site.
The reviews I had read were of chickens and the reason why we had chosen this one over others in the area and we had our first feathered friend helping to pitch the tent
It was the day of the royal wedding and we'd been told they would squeeze us in, but there was plenty of space.
The toilets were clean and enough loos so no queue's
There were 3 showers with push button which were lovely and warm (perfect temp for me)
There was an indoor pot wash but as only stopped overnight we didn't eat at camp. This room also housed the washing machine and drier.
The playground was quite nice and was suitable for primary and even middle school children.
One or two of the children weren't so nice, but a few girls were lovely and very supportive of my disabled daughter, which really made it worth while.
The owners were nice and friendly.
The site is secured by an electric gate that closes automatically behind you, and you are given the security code on arrival.
We had a drive out to find somewhere to eat and with it being a special day we found most places closed so ended up at Tesco's in Bristol.
There are some beautiful churches in the area and we had lunch in a local pub (local I mean within car driving distance)
It is close enough to the motorway to make it a worthy overnight stopping point as part of a long journey, but it isn't right on top of it that you can hear it. We did hear a train or two though as it isn't too far from a railway line.
I would recommend this place to those who are going to stay in the area.

Only stayed here for one night after driving down from North Yorkshire and needed to be close to M5 motorway. We wanted somewhere near Bristol to visit relatives on our way to Devon but would definitely go back if staying in the area. Plenty of space, excellent facilities, lovely people (Jenny and Neville) and fresh eggs from free range chickens all around you!

This site is friendly and quiet, we only stayed one night using it as a stopover on the way from Lancashire to Dorset. Would definitely use again. Conveniently near the M6 but not too near. The pitches allocated are massive. We were given a pitch around the slide/climbing frame as we had young children with us. The toilet block is clean. Cannot comment on the showers as not used. The kids loved seeing the hens around the site, which caused no problem. There is a gate operated by a code which made us feel secure.

Just come back from 2 days here - and had a lovely time!
The motorway and trains not a problem at all - neither are the chickens.
Only a couple of people there on sat night and then had the whole field to ourselves last night. Showers and toilets fine.
Only 25 mins from where we live so we will return. A good simple campsite where you can sit back and forget about the world!

Stayed there two nights as we were going to a wedding at Tortworth Court. Lovely site, nice and level for a motorhome. Lady running the site very friendly and helpful, assisted with getting us the name of a local taxi firm.
Great play area: our grandson would have loved it. Only comment is that shower block could do with a bit of an update but water was nice and hot and it was clean. The chickens, trains and motorway were not a problem. Would definitely stay there again.

We spent last weekend at Hogsdown Farm and found it to be worthy winner of our campsite of the year. Flat pitches, great location with plenty to do in the area. The hot water was somewhat tepid and the chickens could be a problem on some of the fields. We found a corner of the small camping field to be ideal. Sure you can hear the M5 and passing trains, but just think waterfall. The lack of light pollution makes for a great night sky.
At £26 for a two night stay, 2 adults and one child was very reasonable. The kids seemed to enjoy the play area and the lady owner was helpful enough. There is a coded security gate and the deep pond is fenced off.
We visited Slimbridge and Dursley- Ye old Spot- best UK pub 2007 is worth a visit. We only scratched the surface. Would return.

We'd only ever been to one other campsite with a touring caravan and we were given a reasonably warm welcome by the owner. She helped us park up on our grass pitch (there are hard pitches too) and talked through facilities etc.
The site is perfect if you have kids. Informal pitches without constraints of hedges etc and you can park up in view of a small play area/climbing frame for kids. We went with a toddler.
The roaming chickens were fine as long as you didn't feed them, and the whole coutry feel was lovely.
It rained nearly all day for one day of our weekend visit. This meant that although they had cut the grass they had not collected it and therefore damp soggy grass got everywhere. The shower/toilet blocks were clean apart from the damp grass all over the floor. And the fact that there was nowhere to stand that was clean and dry in the shower cubicle meant that there was grass everywhere and you never really got it off your feet/socks/toes/ shoes.
Otherwise, I would say that we enjoyed it and our toddler loved it! We will return - hoping that with better weather the approach to grass collection won't make that much difference.

Relaxed campsite with country feel. Chickens join you for breakfast! Showers not very powerful and temperature sometimes very hot but generally clean and acceptable. Security good with electric gate requiring code for exit and entry. From the M5 travelling north, internet directions take you off on the services and through a private road - be aware. Overall we'll be returning very soon!

If you want a large pitch with no real borders, good water points and lots of hook ups. A park for the kids that you can mainly see from your pitch, flat pitches and a generally quiet site, this is for you. Local shops eg co-op, spar, takeaway's. Well everything you will ever need, are in the town of Berklely 5 min drive. Lake with birdlife, fantastic sunset's/night sky's,
And close to many visitor attractions eg towns, walks, canal's and pubs. There are chickens roaming but don't feed them and you will not have any problems! Bonus points are Aerobatic flying planes sometimes, with hot air balloon's flying during the summer evenings, Glow worms in the hedges, Very Pretty. Rail and motorway noise not really a problem, Been going there for many years, owners want you to enjoy your stay with not too many restrictions or rules. Very clean toilets, owners are easy going.

Booked at 930pm the night before we arrived. Very helpful and friendly lady on the phone took the booking. We arrived the following (saturday) night at 10pm. Had phoned in advance to say we were a little late, but this was okay. We arrived at the site to be greeted by Jenny's (the owner) daughter in law who showed us to our pitch and said we could sort everything out the next day. After a peaceful sleep, the children went off to the play area - which they loved and we set up pitch. No problem getting a shower which was nice and hot, no timers and no queue. (8am). One of the rules was disappointing about no riding of bikes on site. However, when the owner explained why - previous children churning up the grass to make muddy areas, riding too fast through other peoples pitches - we could understand why.
There is not much lighting around the campsite at night so a torch is recommended, again this suited us as a sky and stars were amazing.
Now to the chickens. After reading other reviews we feared the worse. However, they were no problem to us (It did take our pup a little time to get used to them, but he had never seen one before) Our children thought they were great and spoke to them and fed them. So if you do not have a fear of birds, they really are not a problem, but add to the country feel of the site.
All in all we will return and recommend the site to anyone who likes electric hook up, but dislikes regimented lines of tents and caravans.
For any camping requirements try Attwells. Turn right out of the campsite, left at the main road and keep going. You will pass a very nice garden centre on your right and Attwells is just down the hill on your left. A great play area for the children while you shop. Further afield into the Forest of Dean there's a great caravan shop sells second hand awnings at a very fair price.
