Stayed for 2 nights here while we had work to do in Manchester, lovely picture perfect surroundings by the river, owners were very nice, toilets and showers very clean but when showering it was difficult to keep your clothes dry. The only other drawbacks were duck mess everywhere and the main A road right outside the camp was very noisy until quite late at night, we didnt find parking too much of an issue has it was quiet when we got there but probably difficult parking if it was busy. The pub nearest is a two for one all day but we found that the two pubs further down the road over the bridge much better.

On arrival we were shown to the pitch, taken through an obstacle course with about 2 inches either side of the van and told to stop. I said thanks and was about to reverse onto the pitch, told NO! Don’t, ok I will use the motor mover NO! don’t. With that two of them (one being the owners husband) just about forced the caravan off the Land Rover, ripping the spare wheel cover with the stabiliser arm, pushed it onto to pitch then rushed off. On complaining to Mrs Done she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off. We originally booked to have the awning up but thought better as it would have only been about 2 ft from next doors caravan tight up to their aquaroll. The toilets are clean at ground level but don’t look up. DON’T fill your waste container too full as you have to lift it up about 18 inches onto the chemical disposal point to empty out, which by the way has no flush only a low pressure short length of hose which does no good washing anything down the 6 inch sewer pipe. Park your car in the car park, and get blocked in as its not big enough for a third of the Seasonal and Static’s let alone tourers. £17.00 a night another £1.50 for an awning. Good location is about my only good comment.

This is a beautiful campsite, on the banks of the River Weaver. Well maintained and very clean toilets / showers. There isn't any heating in the toilets / shower block, so could be cold at certain times of the year. Owners prefer you not to take your car on to the grass, which means parking can be a bit cramped. There is no specific area for tents, and we felt that they preferred caravans. There didn't seem to be a lot of pitches for caravans either as most of the caravans looked like they were pitched there all the time. They do accept dogs, but they have to be walked off site, but there is a grassy area just outside the gates, keep the dog on the lead though as it is a very busy road. Pub just along the road which we didn't find all that friendly, food wasn't up to much either. Further along the road there are another 2 pubs they were great. Site is well worth a visit.

Immaculate toilet block and showers all in price of £12 for the night. Lots of pride in the site. Very friendly people on site, lots of tourers there for the season, space for small tents really. Siting right by the river at night was lovely. One pub within striding distance, another two pubs 10 minute walk. Lots of nice flat walks along path by river. Would definitely go back.

Just returned from this fab site, the owners could not have been more helpful. They helped us park our van and gave us all the info we needed. There are only a hand full of touring pitches which are along the river bank, so early booking is advised. The site was spotlessly clean as were the toilets and showers, a real credit. There are plenty of nice walks and bike rides close by, and three or four good pubs within walking distance ( one being next door)only slight down side is the noisy road , but being by the river we didn't here it at night.

This campsite is an absolute gem. Stayed Friday-Sunday and didn't want to leave! It's located on the A49 between Acton Bridge & Weaverham right next door to the Riverside pub. The owners, were very polite and helpful and escorted us to our pitch then helped us manoeuvre our caravan on to our pitch which overlooked the River Weaver, the jockey-wheel being literally inches from the edge of the riverbank! There were boats moored along the river and barges and river cruisers going up & down all day long. Facilities were fine, pretty basic but clean.
Small laundrette and two sinks for dish washing, plenty of water points and a chemical disposal point. Toilet block looked a bit dated but was kept clean and tidy with two hot showers which were also very clean (and free). Small play area for the youngsters and an information point with loads of leaflets on things to do and places to visit during your stay. There are three pubs within five minutes walk of the site all serving good grub (booking recommended at the Riverside Inn). Nice walks along the tow path, we had a lovely stroll from Acton Bridge down to Dutton Locks and back which is about four miles in total.
The only minor drawbacks with this site are there is no shop on site, not even for the basics so it was a trip to the filling station about a mile and a half away for papers, bread, milk etc. The site is right next to the road which can be quite noisy, especially from the speeding motorbikes doing about 90mph (had the obligatory ear-plugs in at night) and you can't park your car next to your unit, so once we had unpacked, we had to move the car to the small car park where the cars were parked willy-nilly. We were told to park behind a certain car because the owners must have known that car would not be moving that day, but next morning the car owner had tracked us down via the number plate and asked (very politely) if I could move my car to let him out (don't know what he would have done if we'd had gone out for the day without the car). Maybe they operate or should adopt a system where if you are going off site without your car, you could leave your car keys with the owners so they could shuffle the cars around accordingly! These minor drawbacks are certainly out weighed by the plus points and would highly recommend a stay here.
Would we go back? We certainly would, in fact I'm just about to ring them to see if they've got any pitches available for another weekend in a fortnights time.Brilliant!

This is quite a small site in a pretty location on the river. It is situated next to a nice pub in which we had a nice meal and sat having a few beers in the beer garden overlooking the river. It had the feeling that a lot of people are "regulars" to the site and knew each-other and people tried to be helpful and friendly. Personally I prefer to keep myself to myself, so this is not the site for me as we had people knocking on the caravan door for a chat, trying to be friendly. Maybe I am just a bit antisocial! The entrance to the site is on quite a busy A road. There was a play area and my 9 year old son enjoyed playing there, and because the site was so friendly and grown-ups were keeping a watchful eye out, I wasn't quite as neurotic about his safety as I usually am. I didn't use any of the facilities as we only stayed for one night - this was our first trip out in our caravan which we bought this summer and the site is actually very close to where we live. There are good facilities ie shops, leisure, pubs etc in nearby Weaverham and Acton Bridge is a very pretty village. I probably won't go again just because it is so close to home but it's a nice site if you want a weekend away.
