This was our first visit to what is a FABULOUS site. There were two caravans including ours and one tent on this site for all our stay (4 nights).

The showers and toilets are basic and look as though there were last modernised in the 1950s but there is plenty of hot water and it is clean.

The play area is just a couple of swings but our 4 year old had a brilliant time playing in the woods.  These are very safe and surrounded by a fence so no fear of them getting onto the road.  The owner is very friendly and walks you to your pitch.  We did have hook up although only 5amp.

This is an ideal location to visit Diggerland and Beamish (both only 15 mins away).

I would highly recommend this site although be aware it does not take twin wheeler caravans.

We've stayed several times at this campsite - a field surrounded by trees and farmland. It's beautiful countryside, it's peaceful. It's a no stress campsite. The facilities are basic - just toilet blocks and a washing up room in fact, but they are clean. There are a few hookups for caravans, none for tents that I know of. The shops are a car ride away, the sightseeing is plentiful. The coast is less than an hour away - visit Bamburgh Castle, or Holy Island, Beadnell or Whitley Bay. Head towards Hexham and visit an abundance of roman ruins and museums as well as some beautiful towns and villages. Drive inland to lovely places like Allendale. Visit Alnwick Castle or Bowes Museum (with its automaton swan). Go and see the Life Science Centre in Newcastle (and nice shops too!). The options are pretty endless and you are well placed at this site.

Great campsite, quiet and tranquil, huge field with only us and a few others. Some of the time only us, kids could run and run! Basic but clean washrooms no laundrette but one within an easy distance by car. Friendly site owners were on hand if needed but left you to enjoy your time. Good basic play area. If you want a simple and quiet break this is the place to go!

Was here for four nights, would echo other submission certainly quiet. That wasn't a problem for us very relaxing but others seemed not to like, one family paid for two nights but left after one without telling the site reception. The site is well sheltered and looked after, the faccilities are a little old but clean. good access to Durham(20 mins)and north east. If you have young children (4-12) recommend visit to Diggerland but be carefull you can get carried away with your spending

If you are looking for peace and quite, this is the place for you. We spent 2 nights here and the grass is well manicured and there is plenty of space for the kids to play. The site is surrounded by trees and at £8 per night you can't go wrong. Ideal for walkers and visiting Beamish Museum.
