A clean, quiet site each time I have visited. The facility block is fairly rustic but the basics are there, plus Swallows, if they are nesting at the time. Lorton is a gem of a location and the only pub, The Wheatsheaf, is only a few minutes' walk down the lane. It serves Jennings. The campsite owner will freeze ice packs FOC for you and the pitch costs are very reasonable.

Just been staying on this campsite - it's a delightful small grassy site with four little hedge-enclosed fields for camping. There seems to be some building work - a new reception office - not actually ongoing, which is a little puzzling, as the owners have just moved to run a B&B in Keswick so are no longer on site. There was no-one at the so-called Reception at their vacated house, when it was supposed to be open night and morning, and so no money was collected on Saturday night / Sunday morning for those who had turned up during Saturday. The facilities were in need of some more special cleaning e.g. Cobwebs on skylights, hair stuck in shower grids and we had run out of toilet rolls by Sunday morning. But generally it was clean with plenty of hot water and very reasonable 20p showers. I think this is such a lovely site, and there's a fantastic pub down the road doing meals, and all so near to Cockermouth, that I think if the owners could get their act together over the facilities maintenance/cleaning and Reception, I will be sorry I told anyone about the site as I'd like to keep it a secret all to myself!

aug 03 Found this one by chance as our original targets were full. Found this to be cheap, basic facilities but nice grassy pitches and plenty of space. Good base and only 10 mins walk to pub. Very friendly but noisy owls on a night! If you want a quiet site during busy weekends, and you are not too fussy about facilities then this is fine.
