We are a couple from Germany and stayed 14 days on this campsite for exploring the Lake District.
This place (Walney Island - Barrow In Furness) is an ideal starting point to discover Cumbria and Lancashire. We made a journey to Windermere, to Ravenglass and to Lancaster City. It was perfect!
The campsite is quiet situated in the south of walney island, near to a nature reserve and you can easy walk to the beach and to the tideland.
For shopping it´s only 10 min. By car to next big supermarkets like Tesco, Aldi etc. In Barrow.
On Walney there is an 5-Star Chipy (Andys Fish & Chips).
All facilities on the campsite, the pool, the pub, the toilets, the showers are in good condition and very clean.
The pitches are great enough and had an electric point, water connection and also a sewer. Very practical.
The staff of the campsite are kind and helpful and there is a good atmosphere.
All together, it´s an nice campsite to stay more then only for a weekend! Recommendable!

Visited this site first time in 2005 and have been back for every main holiday since and also some long weekends.
The facilities are amazing!
Toilets and showers spotlessly clean suggested baby change facility be added and next time we went it was put into disabled toilet so either parent can use it.
Pub very clean, separate games room for kids with 3 pool tables 3 video games tv and air hockey machine, Seperate snooker room for adults only.
Staff very friendly and very approachable. Pub grub delicious! Swimming pool and sauna very clean! Kids adventure playground excellent! Beaches either side very clean.

As a child, South end caravan site was my second home. My mum, dad, sister & I used to attend the site every weekend, like the majority of the people we knew on the site. We have never ever had any problems with the site, and although we do not own a caravan on it anymore, due to divorce. We encouraged our friends to buy a static caravan on the site. We also attend the site to visit old friends, that we will keep for life, from the site. Not far from Piel Island, the site has everything.
I WILL be visiting the site when I am older!

Visited site with friends. What a lovely site clean and all staff very helpful. Swimming pool great, kids play area all new and really good. We went with children aged between 2 and 5 all enjoyed it. Go to barrow dock museum and have a look good play park there as well. First pub on right over bridge serves good food value for money! Not much to do off site but a nice place to chill and let kids play! recommend.

This has to be one of the quietest, nicest, friendliest well run sites we have ever visited. Well worth a visit if you want to get away from it all,but still enjoy a few laps of the pool before brekky, then on to the beach where you can see for miles we love it 10 out of 10 definitely

Family run site. Very friendly staff. Toilets and showers very clean with lots of hot water. Indoor swimming pool is ideal when the weather is not great and doesn't get too busy. Bar prices really reasonable. Take away service available, again prices really reasonable. Very flat site and perfect for cycling. Only negative point is that the site is very open and can be quite breezy. Children's play area is excellent and there's also a football pitch. Entertainment on every night, whether it be bingo, childrens entertainment or disco.

June 2002 Small family run campsite with static & touring caravans mainly in mind. I had a tent pitch which was OK Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Two bars with decent bar prices bar meals available. Free swimming pool (makes a change). Good walking country with many views, a sandy beach very close and a bird sactuary nearby too!
Overall 8 out of 10
