The signposts were very confusing. The owners weren't particularly accommodating they told us to go where ever we wanted near the wall so we did.
What a mistake the donkeys were very loud morning and night, the farmer started the tractor at 7 in the morning.
The facilities were very basic and showers were freezing cold all week and extremely dirty.
The area is nice and great to get to places of interest
We have no desire to return to this place again.

It would be very easy when talking about this site to simply use the word 'Fabulous' but I realise this doesn't assist potential visitors, so I will elaborate.
I impulse booked on the Bank Holiday Friday morning as soon as we realised the weekend was going to be a true scorcher, and was lucky enough to get a cancellation - their loss, our gain. Initially I booked for two nights. I was also extremely impressed by the fact that in contrast to many sites this one didn't hike the price up outrageously just because it was a bank holiday weekend. I felt that £13 per night for the two of us with our van (without electric) was a very fair rate especially when we got there and saw what we were getting for our money.
The campsite is behind a guest house on a country road near St Just, surrounded by peaceful, tranquil countryside. The welcome we received from the owners, Allan and Corinne, was extremely friendly and helpful. We learned that the village of St Just was just ten- fifteen minutes walk away, with a gentle climb on the way up then level the rest of the way. We went through the gate to the pitches which are the back of the house, passing a couple of chicken houses containing robust, happy, healthy birds on the way.
The pitching area is like a great big lovely garden really, hence the name of the site I guess. There are only twelve pitches and wherever you are you are very close to the amenities block as a result. About five of the pitches are sort of sectioned off a bit, the rest are in a row without any dividing foliage but plenty of space. We thought it might get a bit crowded once it filled up, but when it did we were pleasantly surprised. Despite the people milling around including children it stayed quiet and there was no music, etc.
We were in number 9 right opposite the amenity block, which is a delight. The facilities were spotless and there were lots of nice touches - pictures, local information, flowers, decent soap, a washing and drying machine (coin-op) and even an iron and ironing board. I had noted a previous reviewer's comments about the shower. I am pleased to say that I had a shower every day and twice on Sunday and the water was consistently hot everytime; plus the showers were free. I had to wait once for about 30 seconds to use one of the loos, that was it. There were no queues. I think this is because you can see people going in and out it gives you an idea of how busy it is (and most people went out for the whole day, whereas apart from a couple of hours a day we stayed entirely on site).
There are recycling bins for cardboard, paper, glass and plastic bottles around the back of the amenity block; the chemical disposal area (nice and clean) is in the wall of the block opposite the bins.
St Just has a few pubs, we tried three for drink and ate in one - the Commercial - and had some very nice fish and seafood, the Wellington is supposed to be good too but we didn't eat there. There are also two grocery stores - a Premier and a Co-op, both open long hours even on Sunday, but noted that the Co-op is closing for a refit for about 10 days at the beginning of June.
The walk to and from the village from campsite is easy and has stunning views. There are plenty of attractions both natural and otherwise in the area so although we have no children ourselves we could see that the site was in easy (driving) reach of things to keep the children amused.
We were blessed by three days of the most amazing bank holiday sunshine I can remember, which made our stay even more fantastic.
It is a foregone conclusion that we will definitely be going back to this site - very likely later this year. I really cannot think of a bad thing to say about it.

We camped here for just one night in windy and wet weather. The owner led us personally to a sheltered pitch for our little dome tent. The site is quiet and sheltered with trees and flowers all around. The toilet block is clean and has good facilities - freezer for your blocks, sink with hot and cold water inside - a boon in the rain, washing machine and tumble dryer (we didn't use these but we saw them working), ironing board, microwave. The only downside was the shower - lovely that it was free but it ran hot and cold. The toilets were clean and had plenty of loo rolls. Recycling facilities were good. There were a couple of picnic benches. With only 12 pitches, these facilities are great. Cost was £10 for two adults with a small tent. A group with several tents had been given the end space so they could all be together - I don't know how much that would cost. Definitely recommended.

This is one of those little secrets that I am loathe to share with anyone! I want to keep this site all to myself!
We have just returned from a week spent in the 'Secret Garden'. The arrival and check-in procedure were extremely efficient, we were even escorted to our pitch by the owner! There are 12 pitches inside this walled garden so it would never be really busy which is good as there are only 2 showers - 1 for each sex and 2 toilets for ladies, 1 for gents. The little block in the centre of the garden also has a washing up area with sink, bowl, drainer supplied. There is a coin operated washing machine and drier, there is also an iron and board! We did make use of the washing machine twice as we were staying for a full week with unexpectedly hot weather so half of our packing was not needed.
As stated on their website, there is a residents lounge with a small bar and TV but we didn't use them as that isn't why we go camping (we avoid any campsite with a clubhouse or bar!).
Just a word of warning - each pitch has an EHU but we were camped next to the 'plug in area (at the front of the toilet block) but our 15ft lead only just made it into the ten. The caravan next door had a lot further to go but they had made use of an extension lead. I think I may well purchase one too!
As for the surroundings - stunning! The owners have deliberatley managed the site to encourage wildlife, leaving a large border around the site for wild flowers and grasses to grow. We saw lots of birds flying around the campsite - the ones I recognised were swifts, robins and wrens. We were visited by a couple of baby bunnies too which come into the campsite but are a little timid so do not pose a problem as they run off at the slightest movement. Shame! Although I did over hear a conversation between the owners and a chap painting the windows discussing getting someone in to sort out the rabbits and stop them becoming a problem with a bit of population control! We only saw a couple of bunnies so this does seem a bit heavy handed and rather sad. I know I am soft but it did make me think twice about coming back to the site.
On the positive side - as I said, the site has everything but is not ideal for families with children who require entertaining as they may become bored. There is a farm shop next door which is soil association accredited but is only open on saturdays!??
In the area - lots of wonderful places to go but try and visit Porthcurno beach before lunchtime it really is stunning, like being in the med. Until you put you foot in the water of course!
I will be recommending this site to my friends and family if they are in the area. I will return to Cornwall next year and will probably come back to this site too as I doubt we would find anywhere as nice.

This is a very attractive site, with generous pitches in a pleasant, sheltered garden. The owners run a bed and breakfast establishment in the house, and offer campers the use of a television lounge and bar, and breakfast to order.
The toilet block was kept scrupulously clean, with hot showers included in the price. There were thoughtful additions, like the small freezer, and picnic tables.
There are no play areas for children, though there are chickens and rabbits to watch!
There are just twelve pitches, and while we were there, the other occupants were three or four campavans.
The area has much to offer. In one direction is St Just-in-Penwith, which is just big enough to be classed as a town rather than a village. This offers a choice of restaurants pubs and shops with a lot of character. Menus for many of these are kept in the lounge. The other way is Lands End and Sennen Cove, which need no description. In June, the wild flowers were out, and the countryside was beautiful.
The weather here is unpredictable, as we can testify, having been caught in a sudden downpour as we started to pack our tent! However, this is a feature of Cornwall which one has to accept, and we certainly intend to return.

July 2005 We spent two weeks in a tent at this very quiet site. The site owners (who also run a bed and breakfast establishment at Bosavern House) were very welcoming and we were provided with a pot of tea on our arrival. We arrived in bright sunshine to a site which was essentially a delightful garden with hens and roosters wandering around and we were given a pitch which was almost surrounded by flowers.
Unfortunately, the area is prone to sea mists so we only had a couple of mornings when we actually saw the early morning sun. However, the site itself was excellent with only twelve pitches, some of which were set aside for small touring tents.
It is possible to book breakfast at Bosavern House but it is not always possible to pick the time it is served as the B and B clients take priority. They also do a wicked takeaway of chicken and chips but, again, this has to be ordered in advance.
The shower block was scrupulously clean but quite small – just one shower each for men and ladies. There were two loos in the ladies and one in the gents plus two urinals. There was plenty of free hot water and the showers were fully adjustable. We were concerned that there would be queues when the site filled up but for some reason, there were never any queues. Soap was provided for handwashing and both ladies and gents had electric hand dryers.
In the centre area of the shower block there was a washing up area with oodles of free hot water plus a washing machine and tumble drier which were metered. £1 would more than pay for a full load to be washed and fully dried. Usually there was enough credit left in the meter to cover the cost of ironing an entire wash. A rotary washing line was also available for campers.
The site itself was also scrupulously clean with bins emptied daily and recycling collection points for plastic and glass bottles.
The site is just four miles from beautiful Sennen Cove and about eight miles from Penzance, where two superstores are located. We were told that St Just was a twelve minute walk away but we didn’t test that theory as it was all uphill. The four minute drive was preferable when we wanted a takeaway or to do some late night shopping!
Most of the campers were adults in caravans or motorhomes. There were just a few tents but EHUs were available for all pitches. There is no children’s play area and there is not really room for children to play on or around the pitches. There is no clubroom but campers can use the bar in Bosavern House where there is a TV. One word of warning: if you like to watch TV in the evenings, make sure you have a booster for your TV aerial as reception is not good.
On the down side, an aerodrome was situated just a mile from the site and the small planes could become a bit obtrusive if you wanted a quiet afternoon sitting around outside the tent. Surprisingly, the roosters were not too much of a problem and their crowing didn't disturb us at all.
We will probably go back at some time in the future. We loved the site and would like to pick it up and take it to all the other places we want to visit.
