Visited between Monday and Thursday.
Lovely site, very picturesque with lakeside walks.
There is a good number of resident tourers and statics here but at no time did I feel less than welcome by everyone here. The people that run the site were friendly and helpful.
The toilets and showers were clean.
Horncastle is a two minute drive away and has a decent size supermarket and loads of takeaways.
We went for the fishing. The lakes look fantastic but fishing was quite hard. Undaunted we spent one excellent day out of the four at another fishery ten minutes away and returned to a lakeside pitch at Ashby Park. There are plenty of other places to fish in the area.
There is bait for sale at the reception. One good thing about the fishing at Ashby is the lack of stupid rules. They do have rules of course but nothing restrictive and all of the rules make sense. The other good thing is the scenery and wildlife. The site deserves its David Bellamy Gold award.
I can highly recommend this site. I enjoyed my four days of peace and quiet here and I hope to return.

Have just spent a couple of nights at this site over Bank holiday weekend. The staff were all friendly.
When we arrived we were shown to our pitch, we noticed that our ehu wouldn't be long enough but we able to loan an extension lead from the site. We had to pay £20 deposit but got this back as soon as we returned it.
Toilets and showers were clean and we never had to queue for either. As other people have already said the showers cost 20p. Dishwashing sinks also cost 20p but these were spacious and clean.
There isn't much for children to do on this site but having said that our two children 10 and 7 enjoyed our stay there. We took some games with us and there was a playing field which kids could play on. They also enjoyed walking around the onsite lakes.
Horncastle was only five mins drive away which has shops and restaurants.

We stayed at Ashby Park for six nights, nice clean site, owners very helpful, as it was our first time out with the van took us to our pitch and backed us on to it. The weather was not very good, rained all week, but we still managed to walk round sometime during each day. Hot clean showers and toilets. Managed one day's fishing, will come again to this site.

We visited following a recommendation from a friend who camps there regularly and it's all she said it would be. We had a lovely peaceful weekend. The site is well signposted, picturesque, well laid out, clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful and the wildlife abundant. It would be churlish to complain about the shower charge when these are probably the first we have come across where it IS possible to swing a cat or, at least, have enough room to dry and dress. For caravanners the hard standings are an excellent idea which more sites could usefully copy. Shops are about five minutes' drive away in Horncastle in case you've forgotten some essential supplies. Lincoln, Louth and the joys of Skegness are easy to get to if Horncastle itself isn't jumpin' enough for you. Cadwell Park motor racing circuit is just a few miles away. We will definitely visit again.

We stayed over Easter & what a great site.W ell spaced out, quiet, tidy & helpful staff. We were shown to our pitch & our daughter & niece went fishing for the first time and some one in the office lent them a landing net! Overall a fantastic site and we will visit again. The fishing is quite hard but I caught 2 in a couple of hours so left happy. If you travel into Hornchurch town try the fish & chip shop, huge portions brilliant value for money, 4 adults and a 3 year old with drinks just over £20. A good rest was had by ourselves & friends in their caravan.

Lovely quiet site. Very helpful staff, nothing too much trouble for them. Clean facilities and nice hot showers (cost 20p). Large exercise field for dogs. Owners go round several times a day, including early morning and late at night, basically just keeping an eye on things. There isnt a childrens play area or anything really for young children at all. This site would be good if you are looking for a nice quiet break or want to spend your time fishing or strolling around the many ponds. I would think the walks around the ponds are really nice in the summer unfortunately it was a couple of weekends ago when we went and we encountered all weather imaginable. We did manage to walk round the site though a few times and still enjoyed ourselves.

June2003 My wife and myself have had a good weeks break on this quiet rural site. It has good sized pitches, lots of wildlife; rabbits all around and lots of birdlife with kingfishers, ducks, geese etc. on the ponds/lakes. A good place for a restful break. Fishing on the lakes not easy, but they do contain fish of a good size, early and late would seem to be the best bet, as would a weed rake. Both toilet/ shower blocks warm and clean. The site itself has a security barrier and camara survalance of the entrance. I do have two small gripes, 20p for showers and only a 50p reduction for fishing (£4.50 against £5.00) for campers on site does seem a little mean. However a return visit is more than likely.
