We went for our 1st camping trip with keycamp my wife ,2 young sons and myself, and we absolutly loved it ! We felt the site was well groomed, tidy, helpful staff and I even found a cleaner cleaning the toilets at 11pm at night. This was our 1st trip to france and we found the area very peacfull and easy to get on with. We enjoyed our holiday so much that we have purchased our own tent and camping equipment and have booked to go back in august 2007/ I hope the site still meets my expectations and either way I will update you upon my return.

Les Castels chain of campsites mustn't check their sites too often! This one was very disappointing; we intended to stay for 7 nights but cut it short to 3. The toilet facilities are disgraceful - filthy, smelly and in need of a major work over. The whole campsite has a "long-past-its-best" feel about it. The site was infested with insects - flies and midges of every conceivable shape and size. Overall this is one to definitely avoid.

YUCK - hated this site with a passion - so not France, more like Butlins with an accent! (more football shirts than you could count) Only stayed one night as a stopover and couldn't get off the site quick enough. The shower blocks were vile, grafitti adorned the walls (made you embarresed to be British) and the whole place just looked tired and un-loved. Shame really as the area was beautiful, drive in to site was so pretty we had very high hopes. Visit again.nah, rather sleep in the car in the ferry car park!

Stayed here for long weekend with keycamp. Iideal as it took us 1 hour from Euro tunnel. Near to lovely beaches and 2 large supermarkets. Went on the steam train at st Valery and went into Albert for the day to see the excellent museum with underground trenches. I even found this interesting and my 2 sons loved it. Also went to some caves /underground village ( cant remember name sorry ) these were excellent and there were some brilliant swings etc in the grounds and a mini farm. Went into Le Touquet for the day to the aqua park a good fun half day out as it was a wet and windy day. Site was very good lots to do , pony rides and holiday camp style bikes to hire. Kids club open in high season. Shower blocks were plentiful and with warm water all the time.the indoor pool was warm enough.
Lovely area very peaceful, lovely to hear the birds singing every morning and evening. The restaurant on site was good but a bit expensive and not a lot of choice, same for the take away but friendly people. Shop OK nice fresh bread and croissants that have to be ordered day before. the take away was good but a bit expensive . A good place to stop over if traveling further or for a short weekend break to get the camping bug.

I was disappointed with this site. The swimming pools are small and dated, and some of the pitches were small and dirty looking. However, the toilet blocks were okay, and there was plenty of washing machines and dryers. There is crazy golf, pool, Internet/PC available at an extra cost, and a large football pitch is situated at the back of the site. St Valery is well worth a visit, and the steam train there is delightful. However, we will not be returning to the site in the near future, as there is better sites in that area of France available. My overall impression of the site was it is 'tired' and could do with a make over.

May 2002 We visited this site on our first (and last) Eurocamp adventure.
To be honest for a couple of nights, it is actually very nice, although the pools were freezing.
Never experienced the cuisine. St. Valery well worth a look.
Will probably pop in there again for a couple of nights.

July 1997 Well appointed big 4 star site with lots of facilities but very expensive. The comment of the previous reviewer about variable size pitches is very apt. The site is probably fine for a longer stay if you get one of the big individually hedged pitches but we stayed overnight en-route to the ferry and were put on a very cramped pitch with no privacy - and for that standard of pitch the site is vastly overpriced.

July 2003 Le Chateaux de Drancourt is situated in the wooded grounds of a small chateau in north France. The pitches seemed to vary greatly in size. We had a very large one, but others seemed a bit tight. The site does not have quite so much organised activities as others we have been to, but this did not bother us as we used it as a base to visit places like Paris, parc Asterix, Albert, where we visited actual WW1 trenches and a great WW1 museum. The 2 pools and children's pools were supposed to be heated, but were very chilly, even though the weather was boiling. The toilets and showers and dish wash areas were immaculate and constantly being cleaned..even at 11pm! Luckily, they didn't close them for this. One snag was, the showers were often cool and the taps at the sinks were only hot ones and you had to clean your teeth with warm water! There were quite a few washing machines and driers, but nowhere to iron anything. I tried it in the tent and blew the fuses! The restaurant was always busy, and served a good range of meals. The takeaway was extremely slow as they were cooking for the restaurant too. 1 1/2 hours for 2 pizzas! There is a large football pitch and a golf driving range, several play areas, bicycle hire, horse riding, tennis, table-tennis etc. Ther is a bar in the chateau, but we didn't use it at all, so don't know about it. There was a TV room and internet connection in it. Nearby there are great new cycle tracks going for miles along the coast. They are very safe for children. Our favourite beach was at Qaund plage, about 20 minutes drive away. It is a blue flag beach and patrolled by lifeguards constantly. Brilliant sandcastle sand. The local market in St Valery was very big and sold everything from wooden toys to live rabbits. St Valery has a steam train travelling up the coast several times a day. Many people use this site as a stopover enroute to the south. We really liked it, but some folks who did not want to visit outwith the site, struggled to keep their kids amused.
