Great little site, perfect for relaxing. Spotless toilet/shower block. Friendly owners. Great for dogs as there is a nature trail/dog walk on site!

We've been coming here for the past 15 years, off and on and always have a great time! Very quiet and great for stargazing!

Given a 9/10 for child friendliness only because there are ponds and a small river on-site (beyond the large white gate, so small children shouldn't be there alone), but no problems if children are supervised near the water.

My husbands family have been camping at beeswing for many years, since he was a child. The welcome is as warm as ever. The family are so friendly and the site is cosy and inviting, it is quiet and oh so clean. We love the toilet/shower facilities - how lovely to have spotless facilities, night and day! we were at beeswing on august bank holiday and although it was busy it still felt quiet and spacious. We love that there are no street lights and the sky looks amazing on a clear night. We will continue to come back for years to come.

 Oh, what a delight!

If you had a nervous aunt (or a persnickity uncle) who was concerned that camping was a bit 'rough' or uncivilised, then this is the place to bring them to.

The welcome at the reception is very friendly and genuine; the site itself is small, but nicely laid out (and very quiet when we arrived), and the wash block is a delight to use - almost as though the owners were running a genteel B&B. Good quality bottles of liquid soap by each sink, and lovely clean towels for drying your hands afterwards.

There is a small nature trail beyond the white gate which includes some open water, so you'll want to keep an eye on the little ones.

We were on our way to the Galloway Forest, and only pulled in because it was beginning to get late, but we would have no hesitation in coming back to a gem of a site in a beautiful part of Scotland.

We stayed for 3 nights in May 2010 and had a great time on this site. The owners are very friendly, welcoming and very informative about what there is to do in the local area.

Although the site is small and basic its an excellent example of how family campsites should be run. Fresh towels, good quality toilet roll, branded liquid soaps and fresh flowers in the toilets make up for the dated showers with not much pressure.

You need a car to explore the area as there isn't much in the immediate vicinity. Excellent woodland walks and cycling in the Forestry Commission areas and all your shopping needs in Dumfries.

Would definitely stay here again.

Beeswing is a lovely quiet site with undulating greens which give it character

Electric hook ups available, immaculate clean toilet, showers, wash basins, soap supplied as is a hand towel, a laundry room that a joy to visit with two washing up sinks with free hot water for campers to do their dishes. Childrens play area, dog walking area. The pond is now fully naturalized, only one rescued donkey still going (used to be two ) and really nice site owners.

The site is between dumfries and dalbeattie if you want to shop, well worth staying on to visit around the area, come back to peace and quiet.

Toilets spotlessly clean and I never met more than 1 other person there at a time. Shower was hot and spacious. Big playground of the kind I wanted as a child! Apart from a laundry room with loads of magazines, books and jigsaws to borrow there was nothing on site. Nothing expect really large pitches with hand made wooden tables & stools, no pub, shop or even night lights. It was beautiful peaceful and the weather was kind also.

This is a wonderful, small, quiet & peaceful site that has basic, but spotlessly clean, facilities. Convenient for the coast eg Rockcliffe, Kippford, Kirkcudbright etc but only 8 miles from Dumfries with good shopping.
We have visited this site for a number of years, starting when the children were young. Pitches are large with good views of the country side.
Owners are very welcoming and provide upto date information on local attractions & events, including the weather forecast. You can borrow books to read from the laundry room, as well as golf clubs, cricket sets etc.

The wild life is incredible, but unfortunately the Barn owls haven't returned this year.

We had a super week here helped by super weather, this would not have taken anything from this site. It is very clean and tidy, and they could not be any more helpful. The children enjoyed the place as well, not having a pub or club near is a plus for us, and the local wild life was nice to watch as well.

I'd agree with the previous reviewer, this is a lovely wee site.  The owners were friendly & welcoming, the facilities were clean & well looked after and its very peaceful (apart from the cows) - so if you want to have lots to do on site or within walking distance, it's probably not for you.

Personally, we love this part of the country and camp in Dumfries & Galloway every year.

This being my first camping trip, I have nothing to compare it with, so maybe my thoughts are somewhat naive.

In a nutshell, I thought this site was great! It's a small site, maybe for 2 dozen or so tents, with a separate area for static caravans. Electric hook-ups are available (although we didn't use one, so can't comment further).

A small play area for children is situated at the rear, next to a kids 'golf-course' (the quotes are intentional; the course has been mown out of rough grass). A newly reclaimed pond has been made available, containing tadpoles and has a seat or two around it.

The facilities are good too; separate men's and women's bathrooms, each containing 2 showers (free), toilets, basins etc.
The laundry room is fantastic; a couple of sinks for washing-up, a couple of washer-dryers and (best of all), it's really, really warm in there!

The only downside is that the site really is in the middle of nowhere; it's not possible to amble along to a local pub for a drink or meal, because there is no local pub!

All in all, a top site, clean facilities and surronded by spectacular countryside.
