We used this site as an overnight stop. It is very clean and well maintained. The owners are very pleasant but we felt we were being watched like hawks.
Yes there is a dog exercise area a patch of rough grass fenced off but got shouted at for not having dog on lead although it is well behaved and doesn't stray. Not entirely dog friendly, but rules are rules on this site. Glad to escape next day

We were shown to our pitch by a friendly young man who helped us back into position and then offered further help, which we declined. The site was well laid out and clean with sufficient room between pitches. The showers were adequate but could do with updating. Although there was a light with pull switch in the shower and disabled toilet, I could not find a light switch for the main toilet area which was quite dark at times. By the end of the Bank Holiday most of the caravans had gone and we were amazed to see the owner switch off the only outside light near our van. The site is based just off the roundabout at Scotch Corner and there is quite a lot of traffic noise. We don't have a dog at the moment but there seemed to be adequate dog walking facilities (a large field at the back of the site). Whilst I think the site is OK for a stopover en route I would not stay there again for more than one or two nights. The only security on the site was the owners car which was parked half way across the exit each evening, I presume to prevent anyone driving away with one of the vans.

The camp site was well kept and exceptionally tidy. The showers were clean and hot, the toilets were clean and washing facilities excellent. There is a £2 deposit for the toilet block key. There were a generous amount of drinking water points so there was always one very near by. The site had recycle points for bottles, paper and tins which we thought was brilliant. The units were generously spaced apart amongst trees, so you were definitely not crammed in close to other units, however we were not given a map of the site so were unsure where other facilities were. We did arrive late around 10.00pm, the owners were still available to let us in and show us our pitch. You followed the owner to your pitch, we found him rather fussy as your hitch had to be exactly where he wanted it placing. Despite these hicups, the site was well kept and excellent.

This used to be a favourite site of ours being only an hour away. The site is well kept and plenty space between units. It was an ideal place with Richmond being a couple of miles away and the famous Catterick Sunday market. The toilets and showers although clean, were not lit until dusk, no chance of putting lights on yourself there was no switch. After the torrential rain this weekend there were times when you needed lights.

Easy to find site literally just off the A1. Flat pitches with plenty of room for awning and car as well as caravan. Toilets were clean and well looked after although showers could have been a bit roomier and a bit more plentiful, there are only 3 showers in the female block. We found this a very quiet site, a bit too quiet! The majority of caravanners here were older couples without kids or awnings and sat in their caravans watching TV all the time. The people in the one next to us never left the caravan from Friday to Monday except to check their water and throw some rubbish out. We seemed to provide some amusement though when we were putting our awning up as it seemed everyone in the surrounding vicinity were peeping out of their windows. The dog walk is a very large field near to the woods and more than adequate and well looked after. There are plenty of easily accessible water points although the drains tended to be blocked with grit and debris. There is also a decent Elsan point. There were re-cycling bins for paper, cans and bottles but the strange thing was that the paper one was locked! I prised the edge up but it was only half full. We weren't provided with any info at all. No map of the site or rules or how to get discount at the Leisure Centre (as mentioned on their website). Overall the site was clean and well looked after but more suited to older couples wanting a quiet time away.

So easy to find, just being off the A1 for me and my two boys with our tent. The 'booking in' was quick and simple and we paid our two pounds refundable deposit for the toilet / shower block. We were guided to our pitch shortly after.
Flat and well cut grass proved easy to pitch on and we were enjoying our stay in no time. Our pitch number was a flag stone for the jockey wheels of the caravanners but it proved ideal for keeping our barbecue off the grass.
Even though there is no purpose built play area, there is a great big field which was more than enough as we got stuck into a game of football away from all the caravans.
Being so close to the A1 I thought it might get a bit noisy with the traffic but it is shielded by trees and you are far enough away not to notice it.
Would go again. Definitely!

The owners of this site are absolute stars. We decided to come home earlier than planned, but realised that we wouldnt be able to get into our storage facility as it was closed. We were in a panick wondering were to leave the caravan. Then I remembered that there was a site at Scotch Corner. We got there at about 9.30pm and they let us on, and showed us were everything was, this was without a booking. The site is lovely and an ideal setting close to the motorway, for the Lightwater Valley, yorkshire moors, Richmond etc. A66 on the same roundabout for the Lakes and Scotland. The pitches were lovely and quite level with electric hookup. There were lots of water points around. I really like this site and hope to go to again. It is easy to find, if heading North take first exit at roundabout and follow road around, where you will see the signs to turn right.

We have stayed at this site twice now, we stayed here the second time cos it was a bank holiday and its close to Richmond, 4miles away, (which is a lovely small town to visit) and everywhere else was full. The man and woman who runs this site don't miss a thing! they watch how many cars are coming and going and how many people are in the car, if you just come to visit friends they come to your caravan and ask how long you will be staying and will also charge you. You are only aloud 1 car next to your caravan ( even if you have payed for 2) there is space at the entrance to park, but it is a walk to your car. The toilets and shower block is not very clean, and there is nothing on this site, no park for the children. The shop on site is very small and basic. There is a pub next to the site, but closes very early (3pm in the afternoon on a bank holiday) it is a very expensive site for what is on the site.

I would like to take this opportunity to disagree with comments made regarding this site. A comment was made regarding that there is not a children's play area, there is no mention on any of the sites details about there being a play area. Perhaps details should be read properly before booking sites? The shop is what it is a shop. It sells all basic essentials that a caravanner or camper would require when first arriving and realising you forgot to pack tea bags etc.If it is a supermarket that is required then they are within a short driving distance. The owners / Wardens we found were very pleasant, accommodating and helpful. We arrived slightly late, but with a quick phone call from us they stayed open. The toilet block was immaculate and kept very clean and tidy, admittedly in one of the showers there was some mould but nothing to write home about and to be honest it is very hard to keep on top of in site shower blocks. We have been to plenty of sites with horrendous problems of mould. As for the site being locked at 9pm I think its a fantastic idea at least you are in the peace of mind that your pride and joy and home while you are away is safe and not going to be stolen. It is not a ten mile hike from the pub to the campsite and when we were there, there was some german contractors who left there car in the pub all the time because of their funny start and finish times. I would have no problems in recommending this site to any friends or family and we shall be returning again in june of this year for another peaceful relaxing week.

Yet another excellent stay at Scotch Corner, with great weather thrown in for free! Our late arrival was no problem, and advice and help is always on hand; Wilf's local knowledge was put to good use again! We've some photos from our summer break which show the site should anyone wish to see more of the place, and I'll happily e-mail them as required.
