We have just returned from a wonderful weekend at this caravan park. The owner was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient at our arrival. We were running late and phoned ahead and this was no problem.

The site was small and friendly, neatly and well maintained. The wcs / showers / utility room were lovely and clean; they were more than adequate for our needs. The ladies w/c area also had information leaflets about places to visit etc.

There were electric hook-ups, water standpipes, chemical waste and household waste facilities (the last two a discreet short distance from the main area). On the edges of the site were hens, ponies, and sheep.

There were various simple play facilities for children and an area for ball games. There was also the opportunity to purchase free range eggs with an honesty box.

We had two dogs with us and there were other dogs on the site. A small lane leads to a pond and fishing facilities. We found the lane an excellent and safe area for the dogs to run free and not bother anyone else.

During our stay we saw a wonderful sunset. Also I saw and heard a cuckoo(!) and a deer on an early morning dog walk.

The site is about a mile from the M62 (as the crow flies) so very convenient but far enough away not to cause traffic noise. There are a number of villages within driving distance with small stores, pubs and takeaways. The fish & chip shop at Newport comes highly recommended. We visited the beautiful market town of Howden for cash machines and supplies. Lovely small shops and people have time to chat.

Come if you want peace & quiet, fresh air and a feeling of getting away from it all but convenience when needed. It is also good as a central base if you wish to visit a variety of places during your holiday such as York, Hull, the coast, Beverley.

I have rated the site from the viewpoint of it being just what we were looking for.

Had a weekend visit with 3 children, in a touring caravan with hook-up. Facilities very clean, with a nice 'small camp' feel.

Very pleasant for children with two playgrounds, sandpit and playing field. Our youngest also very much enjoyed watching the free range chickens, ponies and sheep on site (eggs can be bought via an honesty box on site). Good lane for dog-walking, which leads to fishing facilities - awesome sunsets on view if timing and conditions right!

Owners always happy to help, with nice farm shop just down the road. Would definitely recommend this site!

Date of Visit: July 2006 Unit:  Trailer Tent
Reviewer: Dweez 1 review from this member

Went to this campsite to try out both the trailer tent and the kids for their first time camping. The facilities were first class, cleaner toilet block would be impossible to come by. The owners, Sandra and Rob, were very welcoming and friendly.

We fell lucky in that there was an annual barn dance on that particular weekend and we all had a go which was funny to say the least.
The facilities are great for the kids as there is ample space to let them play in an ultra safe environment whilst the ponies, sheep and rabbits kept them amused.

All in all this was first class and great value at only £12 per night incl electrics. We will certainly be going back.

Really nice little site. Has 25 pitches with electric hookups, 8 or 9 hard standing pitches as well and space for tents.

Facilities are nice and clean with really good showers, no buttons to press or coins to insert which was great. Loos kept very clean.

The site has a little football pitch for older kids and two little playgrounds, one with a sandpit which my kids loved.

The owner a very nice and the place is very relaxed, when we left they were in the process of sheep-shearing, the owner came round and asked the parents if they wanted to let the kids have a look how it was done.

Took our 2 sons & 3 of their friends camping for the first time as a birthday treat for our 9 yr old. Nice clean, small, quiet site ( well it was till we arrived!)- boys enjoyed playing 'footie'with other children staying there.

Showers, toilets and washing up room all kept very clean. Good fish & chip shop in Newport.

Cost £5 per tent. Would definately recommend it for a first time camping experience with children. Marks out of 10 from the boys "10".

Ash age 9, Robbie age 9, Saul age 9, Stephen age 9 & Reece age 6.
