This is a site for people with large white boxes, and not really our style. We stayed one night on the way back to the Belfast ferry and called in on the offchance of a space during a busy, sunny weekend. Although this isn't the kind of site we would normally go for, the welcome was friendly and the staff managed to find us a pitch. The facilities (clean fab showers, many toilets, good dishwashing, laundry etc. Etc) are really fantastic and the pitches are spacious but the whole set up is a little regimented for us. However, this is the right kind of site for most caravanning folk, particularly campers with families and would appeal to many.

Great site set in a beautiful country park next to the loch. Site only 20% full when we arrived so no problem finding a pitch. Wardens very friendly and explained everything clearly. Facilities 5 star! If you have dogs this place is great for loads of fabulous dog walks.

Just returned from a 7 day break at this site experiencing some of the worst weather to hit Northern Ireland but still thoroughly enjoyed the family break.
The site offers a superb shower block , laundry and dishwashing facilities with lots of hot water and was immaculately kept.
Good level pitches but in extremely wet weather they got a little waterlogged.
Security very good - barrier operated and overseen by site wardens and even digital locks keeping unwelcome guests out of the spotless toilets!
The site wardens were superb and friendly and managed site well and in provided useful info- excellent advice on Chinese take away at Killyleagh , a local walk to Gibbs Island from adjacent Delamont park and good local pub Dufferin Arms at Killyleagh approx 2 miles away. Cheap all day parking in Central Belfast immediately before the bridge across the River Lagan.
We found plenty to do from the site - plenty of short walks to Strangford Lough from the site -buzzard and seal spotting.
Trips to NT properties - Mount Stewart Gardens and Castle Ward not far away.
Belfast 45 minutes away - plenty to see and do.
One of the best sites visited.

Just back from Delamont after a 4 night stay. Went to this site on the recommendation of other campers in the forum. Great choice! Quiet, immaculately kept site. Toilets were some of the cleanest I've seen on a site. Plenty of free hot showers. Really good laundry and dishwashing facilities. There was nothing on the site 'to do', however, Killyleagh was only 1 mile away and off course Delamont country park was next door. We didn't manage to visit this due to weather. The main gate is locked from 11pm to 7am and there is a manager on site 24 hours a day.
We went to Downpatrick (5 miles) to a really good Asda for our essentials. We found a fantastic diner / restaurant AJ's in a little place called Crossgar about 10 minutes drive from the site. Amazing food for all the family and reasonably priced. Queued out the door most nights. No licence but you can bring your own wine. :)
Took the ferry from Strangford to Portaferry to visit Exproris, which we all enjoyed as a family. Only £12 for a family of 4 with car.
Would certainly return to this part of Northern Ireland it is really beautiful. Hope this review helps others.

Yes this is an excellent site and credit to those who run it. Stayed a week and it was very well maintained, spotless clean, Very enjoyable. Wardens were however C&C and loved themselves, led me to believe I'd never reversed a caravan before, but they made a good job of providing us with a lovely site
In a great location for exploring the area

We found Delamont to be a perfect site. It was spotlessly clean, quiet without being too quiet. There was lots for the kids to do with a large park about 100m away, minature railway, beautiful walks to the sea shore, great views etc. Village of Killyleagh about 5 minutes drive away, town of Downpatrick about 10mins away. We took the ferry accross strangford lough, amazing! Highly recommended.

Delamont is a nice clean and tidy site with large pitches, unfortunately the play area is too far away to allow kids to go without supervision and there is nothing else to do on the site for children, so if your looking for a nice quite site and you don't have kids it would be perfect.

October 2004 Arrived at this site latish (8pm) and where met by a friendly & helpfull wardens (Steve & Chris) nothing a trouble. The site is well run and very quiet, mind not a lot to look out on (views etc)although the site is set in Delamont Park, which has brilliant walks, etc.
The amenity block is well kept and everything is spotless. Reception stock a tiny amount of essentials, but for other bits Killyleigh town is only a short drive away (Spar shops etc) Gas was also problem for us, we had to travel to Ballyhoo a few miles away for a refil.
On our visit, there had been a lot of rain, so pitches where a bit soggy. The site is well worth a visit. we would certainly use it again. would mention that the area has it's share of speed traps, so be warned!

August 2004 Bank Holiday weekend and what a fantastic site - we even got the weather. This site is less than half an hour from our house and is run by the CCC. Because of this it's very strict as far as distance between pitches (6m) and noise after 11pm and before 7am - I have to say I didn't mind this at all and it made the weekend even more enjoyable.
Louts are certainly not tolerated on this site and instead it's full of considerate people who just want a bit of peace and quiet and to relax.
There's absolutely loads to do for the kids and we were never bored - walks, adventure playground and minature railway (the longest in Northern Ireland) to name but a few of the attractions.
The amenities block was the highest possible standard - perfectly clean and tidy - the camper's kitchen was better kept than our own at home!!
Absolutely first class and highly recommended - we'll definitely be back time and time again.

October 2003 Beautiful site on the edge of Strangford Lough.
The site is run by the Camping and Caravan Club, but is located on a Country Park, maintained by Downpatrick council. The site officials are very friendly and eager to help in any way they can.
Within the Country Club, to which you have free admittance, there are great walks in the woods and down along the Lough shore. There is also a large kids adventure playground.
Our only critism of the site is that they close the toilet block mid morning for an hour for cleaning which can be a pain with young kids.
On our list of sites to return to next year!
