I stayed at this site for one night as part of a group. The site is very easy to find and is located behind a petrol station and has a caravan dealers and workshop on site, although this did not disturb me at all.
The toilet was ok, it was clean enough and perfectly adequate to do ones business. I did not use the showers but friends advised again that they were more than adequate.
The site was very flat offering a choice of pitches, including plenty of grass one, with ehu, grass with ehu and hardstanding.
I was on the grass and the ground was flat and pegs went in easily. Plenty of water points dotted around. The chemical disposal was up by the toilets.
I did not have kids with me, and I did not spot a playground, but there might have been one. However the fields are huge, so the kids that were there quite happily amused themselves in the fields.
Shaftsbury was just a couple of miles up the road, where you will find all the shops, eateries etc you will need. Petrol station on site offers basics and newspapers etc.
Location is great and close to the attractions of Wiltshire, Stone Henge, Avebury etc.
Overall a great site, you could hear some road noise, but certainly nothing to worry about. I would stay here again.

Very good campsite - easy to find. We just stayed for the one night, so the facilities were adequate (the ladies loos were very clean, and I hear the men's were too). The shower facilities are a bit out-dated - only two showers for the ladies (and the same, I think for men). The tiles could do with a good deep clean, and the shower block could do with modernising, but as I say, for one night it was adequate. There were no sockets for hairdryers in either the ladies loos or the shower block though(a must if you don't have electic hookup!).
One sink in the washing area, and as the site wasn't busy, this was fine. Lots of hot water!
The camping area is very flat, and the grass is kept short, which is great!
It would be a good idea to make people park in the car park if returning to the campsite late at night so as not to disturb others.
Good pub about 3 miles away that does a great Sunday carvery!

Convenient location near the town about 2 miles away. Small level site but spoilt by noise from the busy road just a few yards away and poor standard and number of WC and showers. Some people find it difficult to find but just watch out for the garage filling station as you approach the town from the West on the left. The site is behind it!
Staff are helpful and there always appear to be vacancies here when we try to book.
Spending a bit on the sanitation would in my view pay dividends. In this time we all expect facilities to be adequate for the number of people staying on site. I feel that on a site of this size a minimum of 3 W/c for the men and 6 for women should be available. The hand-basins are tiny and only have hot water provision from rather slow feed oversink heaters.
My wife also complains that there is a lack of privacy in the washing area or the shower facilities.

Lovely site, close to Shaftesbury and Yeovil. Staff there polite without getting in your way. Each pitch has it's own picnic bench with lovely views. Toilet block could do with being modernised but it is very clean. The shop is at the petrol station next door where they also have a camping section if you leave anything at home!

Entrance not particularly well signed so easily missable. Look for the caravan dealers and filling station on the right 2 miles out of Shaftesbury on A30 Yeovil road and the entrance is at far end of forecourt between the s.H. Cars. Upon arrival on the garage forecourt we were aproached by a gentleman who enquired if we had booked, I replied 'Yes' and was directed to the entrance with the words 'Pitch anywhere on the grass'. That was the only contact we had with anyone from the site. We had prebooked and paid anyway so maybe they noted my reg no and checked that all was well.
We stayed for 4 nights and found the site perfectly suitable for our purpose. Pitches spacious, well kept and grass kept mown. A little traffic noise from the A30 but it didn't seem to bother us unduly. Facilities were basic but clean if a little dated. Use our own onboard but always make a point of looking. Feel there may be some probs if site became really busy and it could as seperated from the touring pitches by a hedge there is a large non electric field for tents etc.
Caravan shop on site at the dealer's tho didn't venture into the filling station so possibility they sell a few basics. Large superstore just on the edge of Shaftesbury with filling station. All in all found the site very pleasant and wouldn't hesitate to visit again. Found the location geographically perfect to enable visits to both Monkey World and Longleat which was the purpose of our visit.

We were having difficulty finding a site leaving it a little late to book for bank hols. But were fitted in very obligingly at Blackmore. Owners were very helpful and friendly shop has every kind of caravan part for sale. Entrance to site is very deceptive folow instructions carefully and don,t drive too fast or you will miss entrance as site is behind a garage which is not mentioned. The only fault we found was with the shower facilities which are very primitive with not much privacy to change and dry, which is a great pity as everything else is great

Well its the 26th of August and we have just returned home from the Blackmore Vale campsite after a lovely four day break. It was a bit of a last minute decision to go camping with our family a few days for the bank holiday weekend and everywhere local to us was completely full but after a lot of phoning around we came across this site which kindly squeezed us in at short notice. The owners were fantastic and would do anything to help. During our stay we saw a lot of the owners who frequently visit the site on bikes to check all is ok and to have a chat which was a real nice personal touch. The site was very clean and the toilets and showers were lovely. This is a real chilled out site where you can relax and spend time with your family and enjoy the wonderful scenery. Everyone else on the park felt the same way too and a quick trip to the loo often ended up as a half hour trip due to everyone being so chatty. At first my 13 year old daughter thought there was not going to be enough to do but after we set up she enjoyed it so much just by playing with me outside and plenty of barbecues etc. We are definitely going back and cant wait to do so.

We had 9 days here at begining of summer holidays with EHU.
Good points:-
Small site with VERY friendly helpful staff. Clean site. Good size pitches neat and flat. Wooden picnic tables can be used if vacant just go and get one. Very well priced. Free hot showers - Toilets where clean.
Bad points:-
- Very loud traffic noise most of the night. - campsite is behind a garage that is on a main road. We did not feel unsafe and you do eventually drop off. - Toilets - although these where very clean - why o why does the womens toilet need to have a timer on the light switch. A few times I was sat on the toilet and the light went out. The mens and the shower rooms do not have timers. - Why is there no washing up basin / bowls in the mens toilets / showers. Men can use the one outside washing up sink but women stand in queue for this rather than using the inside one - it's beyond me. - The showers are very out dated and could benfit from a steam clean to brighten up the tiles and a lick of paint on the ceiling. Water pressure was variable as was the temp. -As only two womens showers there are queues at busy times also if someone shuts the door some people do not like to put there head around and see if there is a spare cubicle they would rather stand outside. Again it's beyond me. - The shower's do not offer much privacy - to get dressed/undressed you have to get out the shower and stand in the washing area.
Lots of places to visit in the area - really kept us busy.
Steam trains.
Longleat was good value as you could keep going back with your ticket until you had completed all the shows etc.
