A quick review of an awesome campsite.
Not a big commercial affair but a small friendly site with nice owners.
Tim & Lynn have only being going for a couple of seasons, after huge investment in the facilities and revamping the whole campsite.
(Please note old reviews which relate to the old owners. )
Not really a child friendly campsite as there are no kids *Areas*, which in my opinion is a great thing as we do not have kids and prefer a quiet site.
The campsite consists of hard standings for caravans / motorhomes with electric hookup and lovely flat and well drained grass for tents.
Tim and Lynn have also designed and built, excellent cabins which include fold out beds, bunk beds, heated flooring, microwave, cups, dishes etc.
Midges could be an issue in high season when the wind drops (but everywhere in the west coast is the same).
Located in the small village of Strontian, 5 min elk from Shop / cafe, 10 min walk from Hotel / pub. Fuel at Post office on main road.
I would highly recommend this campsite and will be back to enjoy the friendly hospitality.

Spent a night here en route to The Isle of Mull.
A great little site. Friendly and helpful owners. Hard standing pitches and a quiet location. Clothes washing and drying facilities available. They even have a microwave to enable food to be heated. An excellent touch.
There is also a 'bothy' where weary wet walkers can sit, relax and read.
Shower / washing facilities are basic but clean.
The local shop is well stocked. You can buy everything from meat to a chain saw!

This is a cracking little site, we used it as a 2 night stopover and wished we could stay longer, owners were incredibly good in fact I had asked colleagues to send on mail for me which they happily dealt with for me, facilities immaculate. 5 mins walk to the strontian hotel, bothy bar worth a visit for a pint with the locals and food pretty decent as well. 5 mins to a great little cafe with proper scottish breakfast on offer. I will be coming back. The campers room looks great. Stunning part of the world with lots on offer

This was our 2nd stop on our tour of West Scotland [4 nights] and was ideally located for touring Fort William and Lochaber districts. Well signed, good dry hard standing for caravans and motor homes. The owner was very helpful and friendly.
The toilet/shower block was exceptionally well appointed, spotlessly clean and even had free hair dryers. The microwave in the laundry area was most welcome when cooking outdoors was curtailed due to the inclement weather during the last 2 days. The bothy looked a comfortable space for those that camp under canvas. They even provided Fairy washing up liquid, pot scrubbers and scourers for the washing up area - however, there didn't seem to be anybody available to dry my pots and pans!
Well equipped shop, busy pub/inn and tourist information very close by. Good walks available and for those with dogs, they provided a dog washing area [with shampoo] and poop bags.
We found the whole area stunningly beautiful even in the rain.
As with all of Scotland, there were midges so come prepared.
Whilst fuel is available at the post office, it comes at a cost.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, assisted by useful advice from the owner.

A friend and I stayed here this weekend and really liked the site. It was very quiet, and well maintained. The owner is a friendly guy, and we felt that the site caters for all needs. All the communal facilities are very clean. It's a sheltered spot, which increases the likelihood of midges, but that's the Highlands for you. It's a 5 minute walk to a well stocked shop and the tourist info office.

We'd had a very wet day on our cycle tour in Scotland, so were delighted to use a wooden cedar cabin at this site instead of our tents. It was wonderfully dry and comfortable! The site is very well equipped - hot showers, hair dryer, dish-washing sinks and washing up liquid, common room, washing machine and dryer; very clean and with a nice atmosphere. Also pretty flat for putting up a tent, even though we did not do this.
The owner was helpful, and made a small repair to my bike pedal without charge.
The site is close to the village where there is a food shop and tourist information.
I would highly recommend this site.

I camped at sunart camping at the end of May 2013 and had a great time here. The site is quiet but within walking distance of facilities in the town of strontian. There is a warm and welcoming room 'the bothy' where you can sit and read up on the surrounding area. It has a great library and hot drinks are available. Strontian is a perfect base for ardgour with hillwalking and sea kayaking nearby. Recommended!

We erroneously thought this small site was open all year. The site is under new ownership and being upgraded. On our arrival the owner made us very welcome, opened up facilities and gave us overnight hospitality. Nothing seemed too much trouble and we were immensely grateful for his kindness. When all the improvements have been implemented it will be a lovely little site in a glorious part of Scotland. Big grateful thanks. Small ladies block, one shower in need of upgrade which is being done. Site behind some properties so views not that exciting but this area is wonderful for all outdoor activities, water, wildlife, walking etc. Stream runs past drive, dog (and cat) friendly. Warm bothy room for socialising with big logburner. A good place to stop, village shop nearby - we plan to return when officially open!

This must be the best site for visiting Loch Sunart and the Ardnamurchan Peninsular. It is a small friendly site located in the village of Strontian, which is ideal for visiting the whole area. The site has excellent facilities that include a Bothy with a wood stove and ample supply of wood, where one can relax and chat or read. There are OS maps of the area available to help plan walks or drives. The site is in the village and only 5 minutes walk from the shop, post office and pub where one can get bar food. We used a hard standing pitch for our caravan with awning and had electric hook up the cost was £19 per night. The showers and dishwashing were free and there were laundry facilities that we did not use. A microwave and fridge were also available

Came across this little gem of a camp site whilst on a recent touring trip to the west coast of scotland.
We weren't planning on staying here but noticed the sign whilst passing through, and it was getting late and we were very wet (travelling by motorbike).
We received a very warm welcome from the owners and whilst setting up our pitch we were brought a very welcoming brew.
Pitches were good, with hook ups available for tents, but not required by us.
What was really nice for us was a drying area for all our wet gear, really nice shower, with good pressure and a plentiful supply of piping hot water.
The bothy was a great place to sit and warm after the day we had, and also nice that we could have another brew, you can never have too many can you?
We really liked the fact that this camp site is on the border of a little village as it was nice that night to go into the village and have a really nice meal at the local hotel, and a few beers with the locals.
We met Tim in the hotel and after chatting for a while it turned out that he was a keen motorcyclist himself, I had been discussing a little problem I had been having with my motorcycle that day and he without hesitation offered me the use of his workshop, even providing assistance without request, and all at no charge, just turned out to be a loose battery connection!
We were only going to stop for one evening, but after finding out that Tim and Lynn also hire out mountain bikes we decided to stay another day and hire a few and sample some of the lovely scenic cycle trails, which after not riding a push bike for many a year I did find to be a very pleasurable experience.
We do a couple of touring trips to Scotland per annum and I will be including this site in all future tours, the area is a great base for many great scenic motorbike routes and the service was great at what I consider to be a reasonable cost.
Not often you come across genuinely nice people these days and I have to say the owners most definitely are. I look forward to our next visit.
