Warning: They don't take tents any more.
Couldn't stay here as the site no longer takes tents. Anyway from what I saw it was a well kept site next to the owners house.
Small and full at our visit, probably need to book in advance. Small toilet block visible. Sited in Leeming bar, short walk to two pubs. Wensleydale railway nearby as is the A1. Easy site to find with signs on the road.
Owner was friendly, directing us to a new site a few miles away which took tents. Well worth a look if you have a caravan!

Small site on outskirts of Leeming Bar, easily accessible from A1. Room for 18 vans- all grass pitches with electric hookups. Grass kept well mown. Some seasonal pitches and a couple for hire. Peaceful, friendly site. Owners helpful. Small information room. Toilet block looks old on outside but modernised inside. Limited facilities - but shower is 'wet room' type. Spotlessly clean. Paper towel & soap provided plus flowers, even in the gents! Approximately midway between Northallerton and Bedale. Nearest shops in Bedale although small shop at A1 service area. Two pubs in Leeming Bar. Approximately 30 miles to Hawes, Wensleydale.
Stayed 3 nights, July 2010 and would certainly use again.

Easy to find and convenient location as a weekend break or an overnight stop travelling North. Lovely well looked after site with immaculate, clean and good repair facilities. Well laid out. Owners friendly and helpful. Even has a summer house with plastic garden chairs to borrow and lots of leaflet information on the surrounding area. Lots of beautiful places to travel from the site. Public house in small village of Leeming Bar, ten minutes walk away. The Wensleydale railway is also ten minutes walk, take a trip on the steam train its good. Well worth a visit. Only one small minus point being so close to the A1 if the wind in the right direction you can hear the traffic overnight. Does not detract from the pleasant site.

Just had a weekend break at Pembroke. The site is well maintained, toilet block immaculately clean. We stayed over a bank holiday weekend and site was full. Still peaceful though and didn't feel squashed in. No facilities for kids, although there was plenty of grass for them to run around and kick the football. Nearest shops about 2 miles away in Bedale. Would go back.

After reading the previous reviews I was looking forward to meeting the owners but sadly they have both passed away in the last year.
The site is presently being run by their nephew and his wife, a very pleasant middle-aged couple. (no more take-aways though!)
We stayed at the site in order to visit the Wensleydale Railway, Leeming Bar Station being only about 5 minutes walk away, however the price for my motorhome (£12 inclusive of hook-up) would make it a super alternative to a service area for an overnighter when travelling on the A1, wish I'd known of the site 3 weeks ago when I'd paid £8 to overnight at Scotch Corner services.
It is a small site and about 15 of the pitches were occupied by seasonal vans so unless visiting at bank holidays it should always feel quiet and rural. The small toilet block was immaculate. The shower was on a 10p meter.

We (2 adults 1 child) have just returned from 2 nights on this site. The owners are slightly strange, having pre-booked we arrived 9.30pm and was told we could pitch anywhere. Only once we had everything pegged down the "boss" of the couple said we had to move as we were in the middle of two pitches. They were not marked out, so we offered to move the next day if needed! A very quiet sight with mainly static caravans. Toilets/shower were clean. 10p for 5 minute shower. Also had to pay for hot washing up water-we used our kettle. There is no shop nearby but we were able to buy milk from the house. They also had an extensive menu of take away meals reasonably priced, though we didn't try them. Dogs are allowed on site on their leads but contrary to that the owners dog wasn't kept on lead. No facilities for children but room to play on the field. Watch out for Sue (owner) on her ride on ladybird lawnmower or buggy! We used the site as a base for visiting Forbudden corner-well worth a visit but you can't just turn up, tickets are pre booked or purchased on the day from Leyburn TIC.

Very relaxed site, pitch sizes not bad but there are mainly seasonal caravans here. Toilets / showers very clean but basic, 2 toilets and 1 shower (20p meter) but site isn't big so shouldnt be too much of a problem. Also had to pay for hot water to wash up with. House on site does takeaway food, menu looked good and cheap though we didn't try it. No playground or facilities for children. Ideal for visiting Richmond and surrounding area. Would definitely visit again due to the laid back nature of the site.
