March 2005 My holiday started on a very wet bank holiday weekend. The fields where the tents and caravans go were ploughed up due to cars being stuck in the mud. The owner originally wanted us to pitch our tent in a corner of the field which looked more like a marsh than a camping pitch. After we managed to pitch our tent on a small patch of grass that wasn't either very muddy or on a slope I went to the toilet/wash block. The showers were very dirty and muddy and a there was a £1 charge. The showers and toilets were draughty and cold and on a rare occasion there was toilet paper and soap in the dispenser. The owner of the site was more occupied on talking on his mobile phone and not getting his designer shoes muddy than helping the campers with any problems they may have. I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone with a tent or anyone who wants to go if there is any possibility of rain. I have been to many campsites around Britain and this has been the worse I have ever stayed on, and for £10 a night I think they charge £7 too much.

Myself and my husband and friends had never been camping before and I must say that this site has made us want to go back again and again, I only wish we had longer to stay. The camp site was lovely very peaceful and extremely clean and friendly. We had access to showers which were very clean as were the toilets, the owners of the site were very friendly and the rates for our tents were very good. We intend to go back to this site many times and anybody reading this and looking for a very good camping site please look no further, Sycamore Farm is wonderful and we are all looking forward to returning for many years.

My wife and I have visited Sycamore Farm 9 times since 2002 and do not have a complaint. The site is peacefull with all the facilities we need. Ownership changed hands in 2004 and many changes are being made now and in 2006. I am told the site will include static caravan sales, improved facilities for all visitors including a new entrance giving easier access for all. They also have static caravans and cottages.. we have tried both and have been thouroughly impressed.
The other reviewer must have visited while some work was being done.. the rubble mound was being removed while we were there... it was used for road foundations ! Building work is planned for Winter 2005.. everything should be ready for Easter 2006. Get in touch with the owners if you aren't sure..
To finalise, we will be returning several times in 2006... thats for sure. As for the "other" site mentioned... we tried it twice... and WILL NOT go back again ! I guess everyone has their favorite.

Just got back from this site and not impressed. The young guy who collected my money was friendly but the state of the toilets and showers facilities were terrible! The toilets which had a single hand basin in had to double up as washing rooms as well, there are no other facilities to shave or wash in at all and the smell was awful.
There were 4 showers for the 100+ pitches, one of which was flooded and the other 3 needed improving as they flooded too and for the outrageous sum of £1 which give you about 5 minutes of water which is very difficult to control temperature wise! There are no sinks to wash pots except for 1 sink in the laundry whihc clearly states this is not for pot washing but for laundry. I could only find 1 tap to fill my water up with and this had a grubby hose pipe on the end of it.
There is no lighting in any of the other fields and one has a mount of bricks and rubble 6 feet high. The cost was also more than their web site states and I was charged an extra £3 a night as it was a bank holiday - not what I was quoted on the phone or as i say what their web site states.
As I say the owner was friendly enough but the facilities are in desparate need of upgrading as they fall well below any acceptable standard.
I will personally think twice before booking this site - make sure you do not confuse it with Sycamore Lakes as they are farm more upmarket than Sycamore Farm!
