This is a basic campsite with very little in the way of facilities, we stayed here on a very hot weekend in july and if the weather was not on our side it would have been awful, the fact that the weather was so good allowed us to take advantage of the stream, canoeing, assault course, and archery which was all great value and worthwhile. The guy that runs it just lets you get on with it and that's the best thing, I have not had such a laugh with my family and others in ages 10/10

Well if you want a back to basics campsite, this was wonderful. Not sure name of field we stayed in but opposite the facilities, where you have the one toilet, shower and hot water all in one. I believe there are better facilities in the other field up the road, check what is on offer there.
However, the owner put us in a corner by the stream. We had half the field to ourselves, and had a fire going most of the weekend, which the kids loved; toasted marshmallows, backwood cooking and dough breads. We also collected wood ourselves, although you can get from the pile for a small charge.
We took advantage of the canoes, aerial runway and archery, all do it yourself for £15 for the whole group. We all loved the canoes and runway. Lovely down by the little beach for the kids to play safely with the canoes or just play with the sand.
Lovely tranquil location.

Just back from a three night stay at Mellow Farm. Good, basic campsite, with two camping fields, “Huntingford Meadow” and “Front Meadow.” I was in Front Meadow, which is in my opinion, the nicer field, bounded as it is on two sides by the river and a backwater. Huntingford Meadow which is next to the owner’s cottage had only portaloos as far as I could tell, but Front Meadow has access to proper toilets and a single unisex shower, which never seemed to run out of piping hot water as far as I could tell!
The toilets were clean, as was the shower. There’s one male toilet and one female toilet, which also houses the unisex disabled cubicle, so I suppose two ladies could go at once if needs be. Both loos have washbasins with hot and cold water taps and mirrors.
A drinking water tap was located at the side of the toilet block, with a hose attached which made filling jerry cans easy.
The owners were pleasant and, to be honest, left us alone but were available if we needed them.
I can’t comment on the cleanliness of the portaloos in Huntingford Meadow as I didn’t use them, only going to that field to pick up firewood which is now sold in large sacks at £5.00 per sack. A sack will be ample for a cooking fire and campfire for a long evening, provided you’re not a pyromaniac. I didn’t see any kindling for sale, but I cheated and used a good squirt of lamp oil and some newspaper, which got things going nicely! Front Meadow has a single central fire pit at the far end, which is the nicest and most remote end of the field, in an oxbow of the river. I think that’s a good idea as it means there are not loads of little (or not so little) circles of burnt grass all over the place.
My group was a sort of works outing, with 16 people on the first night, 5 on the second and just yours truly on the last night. Even with 16 of us and a total of nine or ten tents, there was loads of spare space in the oxbow end. The field was one of the most level campsites I’ve ever been on and the grass was very well mown.
There’s a small “beach” of sand at the junction of the main river and the backwater which makes getting in and out of the water easy and some of us brave (or foolhardy) souls went for a splash about in the rather chilly water. Bear in mind though, that it’s a river, not a swimming pool and the depth varies quite a bit. The backwater shelves quite steeply where it meets the main flow and despite the river being fairly low, it was well over six feet deep in the middle - children (and some adults!) need to be supervised. The beach came in handy for cooling bottles of milk, beer and wine in the river.
NOTE: Beer bottles will sit happily in the shallows, but plastic milk containers, cans of beer and wine boxes will float away if not secured, necessitating rescue operations - Ooops!
No pub or shops within easy walking distance, but there are shops and a Tesco just down the A325 at Bordon and Whitehill.
We didn’t use any of the “activities,” so I can’t comment on them.
During the day, for aviation buffs, the Chinook helicopters from RAF Odiham were regularly overhead, as were a couple of Army Air Corps Lynx helicopters. There were also some aircraft from Farnborough Aerodrome, but not so many as to be intrusive.
I had the field to myself on the last night and despite the showers, it was a wonderful, peaceful experience, just me and my campfire, with just some VERY distant traffic noise to remind me that I wasn’t in the middle of nowhere, but just a few miles from a couple of market towns.
In summary, a good basic campsite, with reasonable facilities, in a very picturesque location. I think the £5.00 per person per night charge for camping is fair, but I agree with Sallyscof below, that it could be expensive for a family of say two or three adults and a couple of kids. Maybe a “family rate of £15.00 per night might be an idea?

We have just returned after a very eventful weekend at Mellow Farm, the site had its good points and also its bad. The good points were, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the location was excellent, being sited along side a river. This river provided hours of fun for both young and old, being as the weather was fine, it was a good way to cool off, also the countryside is beautiful. There is absolutely no noise or light polution. (Apart from one over enthusiastic rooster that is.) We paid £15 for the privilege of being able to use the equipment, ie. Canoes, ( a word of warning the current in the river is quite fast in places and some of us found it impossible to paddle back upstream to where the beaching area was. And my daughter capsized her canoe trying to do this, it was pretty scary.) Assault course which had a very long zip slide, harnesses were provided for this so is only suitable for older children or adults. I considered it to be very dangerous as you tended to hit the landing very hard, so we came away from there with various cuts and bruises. Archery, after nearly drowning and sustaining injuries from the zip slide, we considered archery might not be a good idea. The farm also has a whole range of live stock, I loved the friendly pigs. We also bought a bag of logs and had a campfire, the kids loved the toasted marshmallows, baked potatoes and campfire songs. The bad points were the toilets and shower. Not only the fact that there were not enough, one toilet inside the shower room, and three porta loos but also they got absolutely filthy, during the whole weekend they were not cleaned at all. As you probably know porta loos which are not cleaned out tend to get blocked up and let out a most incredible stench. The one and only shower was so bad that we gave up on it, preferring to boil water in our tent and wash down there. This also applied to washing up as there are no wash up facilities. I also considered it to be too expensive at £5 per person regardless of age, it cost us £20 a night for what is afterall a very basic site. Those of you who are adventurous and don't mind roughing it will enjoy this site but I will not be going back.

Maybe it depends on what you are after but we absolutely loved this place. Tent was pitched on dry ground in a field around the corner from Mellow Farm. Was raining last week so obviously good land for tenting as no mud in sight. Very basic - cold water tap and 3 portaloos close by. 5 mins walk back to Mellow Farm for shower. The owners are lovely people. For £5 you can help yourself to huge pile of wood for your campfire. Fresh eggs for sale. Closest supermarket is 4 miles away in Bordon. Huge area for children to run freely. River close by to splash around in. It costs £5 per person per night. We will come again!

My family and I have just been for the weekend to this beautifully situated site. £20 a night for four of us I found to be expensive, especially considering in our part of the site there was one filthy unisex toilet with an equally filthy shower (Eggshell painted, wooden construction).
It appears that there are two sites used for camping with the other (next to the river) booked by a party of people. I hope they had better toileting facilities.

The Name says it all! You won't find a much more relaxed site than this one. It is a basic farmers field with no electric and only 1 toilet and shower for the whole field and no washing up facilities, but it is a lovely quiet site. The owners are very friendly and helpful. For £15 you can use the activities on the farm including canoeing, archery and an assault course in the woods with a fantastic zip wire.
There is no play park or shop but we went into farnham if we needed anything and the kids were content running round the field and playing footy, riding their bikes and collecting bugs.
We had a camp fire, you can collect your own wood or for £5 use as much as you like from the farmers log pile. You pitch where you want. All in all this is a real back to basics site, you make your own entertainment and enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside, a really lovely site, will definitely be going again.
