The site itself apart from having possibly the best name ever is lovely. The site is spacious and well kept with lots to do. I cant really add anything positive that hasnt already been said in previous reviews. Even if you only stopped here briefly with the (big) kids Id say its a must.

We stayed here for the last two weeks of the summer holidays, and I have to say that this was the best holiday we have had, ever!
The site is fantastic, the kids loved the freedom of being able to come and go from the farm. They were up in the morning and straight out into the farm to help John feed the animals. He is a great host and extremely patient having LOADS of kids around him all day wanting to help, and driving the train around for hours, just because the kids don't want to get off!
The park is fantastic for kids of all ages, and the trampolines are sunk into the ground so there is less risk of any injuries.
There is also go-carts for the older kids and little tikes cars for younger ones.
My children loved the rabbits and guinea pig area, where they could go in and pet the most friendly rabbits I have ever seen in my life!
The shop is well stocked and they have a little cafe that you can buy food and drinks from. We didn't use this facility, so can not really comment.
The toilets and showers are a slight down fall of this site. They could be cleaner, and as it has been said before, they are mixed, so can smell a bit. That said, the shower water is always warm.
The pitches are generously spaced apart and they are nice and flat.
There is so much to do in Cornwall, the beaches and the countryside is fantastic. There is never a dull day, whether the weather is good or bad.
We loved this site so much that we booked again for this year before we left, and we are counting the days till we go back again!

Excellent value for money! Lovely spacious pitches on a flat site with views of countryside. Beautifully laid out. The children loved it - they had free access to the farm, go-karts, trampolines and crazy golf etc. They needed to up at 8.30am to help feed the animals.
Well stocked shop - including local scrumpy. Relaxed owners, happy to help. The toilets and showers are in 6 separate rooms so good for families etc, although difficult if you are desperate for the loo and someone is using the room for a shower. Mixed sexes meant the toilets weren't always as clean as possible and hot water waned as the day went on.
Very near to local beach - good surfing too!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this campsite, although having pre-school children, it probably helped that we went at an off-peak time.
There was loads of room in the field and the pitches weren't crammed in next to each other, as in some sites we've been to.
The shower and loo block was adequate for our needs (handy actually, to have a private shower-room with small children) but I expect they get very busy in peak times.
The playing facilities on-site absolutely made our holiday. There was so much for children to do, they could happily spend a whole day there or play for 20 minutes while you do the washing up. The site owners were so relaxed about everything, it really gave us a good feeling about the place and they were very happy to give pony rides or train rides on-demand - even in the rain.
A greater range of food products in the shop would be a boon, although you can buy pints of milk and eggs, that's about it.
The site is so close to some great beaches and there's a great atmosphere in the local area.
At Mawgan Porth, there's a takeaway fish and chip shop which sells the best fish and chips I have ever had! If they offer you the home-made tartare sauce, have it, have it!

We have returned to this site several times and have always enjoyed ourselves. Our children love the play area and the patio is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea whilst the children wear themselves out.
The site is clean and safe although on leaving day the rubbish bins full to overflowing.
The lower field can be a long walk to the toilets and the showers and toilets are not always clean but they are spacious and it is easy to shower & dress an entire family in them. There is ample hot water.
The beach is close and never crowded.
We have found that the staff in the shop/cafe can be surly (especially at breakfast) but not so much so that you should be put off from visiting this site particularly if you have young children.

We've just returned from our 2nd visit to this site and again, we really enjoyed it. The freedom of allowing your child to play without worrying where they are is a big bonus - our 7 year felt very grown up going round to the feed the animals with her friends. John is brilliant with them and ensures everyone gets a turn.
The only downside this year was the lousy weather and again, the toilets weren't brilliant. Saying that it won't stop us returning to this great site.

We have just returned from a great weekend at the site.
The pitch was very spacious even for our 9 man tent and we were the only one's in that part of the site which is divided by mounds. Our children 2 & 4 loved the farm and the train. John the owner could not do anymore to make there stay any better they loved feeding the animals and the train.
As stated in other reviews I would think the bathrooms would be very busy in high season, but they were very clean and had plenty of room for all of our family.
We can not wait to go and are planing are next trip already.

Great site. We've just booked for our 4th year, so it can't be bad.
The pitches are generous, and are sheltered by earth mounds in between the rows of mainly tents and a few caravans. We like the fact that the toilets are in fact mini bathrooms. Great if you've got small children to bathe. There could be more of them though and they do get a bit wet and steamy. It's probably best to use a fridge if you can, because the freezer gets overloaded and doesn't freeze the blocks very quickly.
Kids of all ages will love the farm. The animals are all incredibly tame. You can join in feeding them each morning and evening. Pony and mini train rides are freely available through the day. There is also a play park with trampolines and climbing frames. If you get a wet day, there is an indoor games room, that the older kids would enjoy.
Nearby there is a lovely beach nearby with great surf and a river running through.
We keep going back, because the site is quiet, friendly and caters well for younger families. The lack of a bar keeps the noise levels down, which is great when kids are tired at night.
Overall a super site, see you again in August 2009.

We love this site, its quiet, plenty of room and my son loves the farm although he will be too old for this soon. Good cafe there and cream tea, sit and watch the world go by, bring the dog too, which is great as they are allowed on the farm.
The owners are really nice and you don't feel like you are being watched, they leave you alone unlike some sites. The toilets and showers are a bit old, but they are hot and free.
You can walk to the beach but its not advisable with a young family as the road has no path, we always drive and pay and park, good beach too, tide comes in quick, but good for body boarding. We are hoping to go again this year.

We've just returned from Old Macdonalds Farm and have already booked for 2009. The site has very generous pitches and is in a fantastic location near Porthcothan beach. The best part of staying here was the childrens farm - our 6 year old daughter helped feed the animals every day and could play on the equipment whenever she wanted. There were also free pony rides, which she loved especially on Murphy! There is also a lovely cafe and patio area where the adults can enjoy a drink whilst watching the children. The only downside was the dated toilets and showers but they were cleaned daily, we had our own facilities so it didn't really matter. Best of all was the fantastic weather - just hoping we get the same again next year.
