Portsoy is a council owned site run by a warden called Violet, who goes out of her way to help you. The site itself is not very level in most places but there are plenty of slabs for levelling. There is a small play area for kids. The town is only a 3 min walk away with a co-op, chip shop, bakers, and other shops & pubs.
We stayed for a week and had good weather. Will be visiting it again next year. Well done Violet keep up the good work.

Great site. Went with 3 kids and large family tent. We escaped a very windy and wet Wester Ross. Portsoy is a very well kept council run site at the foot of the town just to the right of the harbour. The warden 'Violet' is great she attends to your every need and is always around. The camping area is just outside the main site on Fairly level ground right next to the sea. Dolphins can be seen from the shore. Clean beach although stoney.
The site has a large play area where the children congragate, and when we were there there were plenty. But you can easily keep an eye on them as it is centrally located. Good facilities generally and cleaned every day. There is a separate toilet for campers which could do with updating, although you can use the main block further up the site.
The town is also well kept with pubs, a Co-op, bank and a good chippie. Although the chippie shuts at 9pm weekdays. There is even a small taxi service and a boating pond. We spoke to pensioners there who go back year after year because of the discount they recieve. All in all good value and well done Violet.

A small Council site which is run by a lovely lady called Violet, who is quick to welcome you and help in any way. Toilets, grounds and every thing is well cared for.
The site is only about a 3 minute walk from the centre of town which has a very good chip shop.
Not sure about the nearest Hotel as last booking for dinner was 7.30pm, a bit early for us.
I will return.

The site is located on the beach/shore area. Toilet/shower block imaculate ,first class. Lots to do for all, swings etc. Wee pub along road at harbour (2 minute walk). Nice shops in village of Portsoy (5 mins walk). Excellent reception by helpul and friendly staff. All facilities clean well looked after. Would go back any time, good family atmosphere. Everyone would enjoy this site, but would book ahead, when we awoke next day, even though there were plenty spaces left ,the camp site was full. Obviously foks had arrived very late. If paddling in sea, best wear bring suitable footwear for children as lots of rocks, so be careful please. Plenty hookups. Spaces for both tents and caravans.
