Just arrived back from this site after staying for a week. The site is well kept and in good order. The pub food is good and the land lord is friendly. It is sixteen pounds a night here with a caravan with electric. The surrounding area is good and you are right on the bus route into Shrewsbury. The only down fall I would say is that the shower facilities need updating as there are only two showers for the caravan field and a camping field. We were there in August and it was very busy and the showers were not very powerful and didn't drain very well.

This was our first outing in our tent and we decided on EHU and this cost £39 for 2 nights over the Bank Holiday which we felt was good value.
There were many positives and some negatives to this site.
The tent field is flat and slopes gently towards the river. The EHU was only 6w and the plugs were all on one unit, so if 4 tents were hooked up it would be a real squeeze. Fortunately only 2 tents were hooked up and it tripped several times which was a pain.
We have 2 kids, 7 & 10 who adored the play area which was in full view of tent field and backs onto beer garden of pub.
I would highly recommend booking Sunday carvery, which was really busy, with home cooked fayre and the plates were massive, so great value! Nice welcome in the pub to keep warm on a cool night. We played dominoes with the kids in there without any issues.
When we first booked in at reception, we had paid in full and were given a tag to attach to the tent. No indication where & what the facilities were, they run a pub, not a campsite and you find your own way on site.
Showers were press-button and only lasted 10 seconds per push and the water pressure was dire, although warm enough. Cleanish showers and toilets fine. No handwash, so take your own.
If you are in a tent looking for peace & tranquillity, traffic noise from the A5 by-pass was bearable, but the road that passes the pub has the 'slow' tarmac and the noise (even in the middle of the night!) was really disturbing. The touring field was further away and not as close to roads.
It was good value for our first tenting experience & the kids loved it. We will return to the area but would prefer a quieter site re: traffic.

Just spent a pleasant weekend here. Only our 4th outing in our Caravan. Not so sure about the service. We arrived friday evening and registered in the Pub. I received no receipt for our stay and we had to pay a £20 returnable deposit for the barrier FOB on arrival.
The facilities are adequate, the showers and toilets were clean and functional. We tried to order steaks in the Pub, all meals were reduced as a credit crunch marketing ploy which was nice. However, No steaks were available (Ran out) and the food we did order was fair quality.
I can certainly recommend a visit to Carding Mill Valley which when the sun is shining is a very popular and breathtaking attraction. Shrewsbury is very close by. There is a little noise from the busy A5 and occasionally you hear traffic passing over a nearby cattle grid.
The dog walking facilities are next to the tent field and allow access to the river which our dog really enjoyed.
On the final day we were allowed to leave our van on the site until 4pm with an agreement with the owners, as the site was not busy, we were asked to disconnect our electrics which was absolutely fine as all we wanted was a few extra hours exploring Shropshire's countryside.
Upon departure we returned the fob and collected our £20 deposit with no quibbles.
Overall a nice weekend stay, the pub is not ground breaking but adequate as is the site and its facilities. We may return as we know what to expect.

Just finished a weekend camping here. Was quite a nice site good size and in really nice settings. The pub was nice and served very nice pie and chips. Toilets weren't bad but could have been a little better looked after. The field was a good size but with rocks Everywhere it was hard to get the pegs in more than a couple of inches (even with a mallet which I had to borrow of some kind people camping near us.) Luckily I had a pop up so it only really needed 4 pegs to keep it steady but anything more would have tried my patience.:-)
Close to Shrewsbury and a few other major towns with plenty of touristy places to visit not far away.
But all in all it was a pleasant site.

This is a lovely little site in the grounds of the pub, perfect for overnight stay on route, cycling or fishing weekend break or longer. The toilet facilities were very clean and the site tidy and well organised. There's a children's play area and beer garden so you can sit out and a relax knowing your children are just within sight. Children of all ages were also welcome into the restaurant. The on site pub and restaurant serves excellent food and there is a take out menu so you can take food back to the site (under £5.00 at the time of writing for good size portions and very good value for money). We had half a roast chicken and chips and home made beef madras and rice which went down really well after a couple of pints of excellent ale in the pub. We cycled around the local villages and then a short distance into Shrewsbury town and it was great knowing you didn't have far to go for a good meal and drink after a days cycling!

Just got back from this site after a lovely sunny Easter Bank Holiday weekend this is our second visit to this site and we will go back again. The owners are great, very friendly. The pub is a mixture of campers and locals and very welcoming. We have a dog and he was welcome in the bar area. Food is excellent here and very popular are Sunday lunches so make sure you book if your staying over a weekend period. On the second night we ordered a take away meal from the pub to eat back at the tent which was a nice change very tasty and good value for money. The walk along the river is lovely and plenty of room for the dog to stretch his legs. The play area for the kids is next to the outside seating area of the pub so you can have a drink or food while keeping an eye on them. The showers and toilets are always clean. One problem we found was that there are only 4 EHU for tents and you do have to pitch rather close to your neighbour, although the rest of the site is spacious. Over all a great site easy to find and we will return again.

This was our first attempt at caravanning, we visited this site for just 1 night to see what it was all about.
The owner was friendly and helped us park up, it was early season and work around the site was going on.
Everything seemed well in order with the toilet and showers and the site is well presented although there is some noise from the nearby bypass.
A visit to Shrewbury by bus in the afternoon, and a night in the pub finished our weekend.
A site well worth a visit

Stayed on this site several times, we can only say that we love it! Plenty of room on the touring pitches, clean and tidy, great pub with friendly staff and locals, good food and friendly atmosphere. Toilets and showers are basic but clean, safe play area for the kids right outside the pub so you can keep an eye. Well behaved dogs allowed in the bar too. Nice fishing plenty of barbel and chub, night fishing best.
Bus stop across the road takes you into Shrewsbury, lovely town with all the shops at hand and plenty of great pubs. The Yorkshireman and Wheatsheaf being our favourites, The Boathouse is just the best for Sunday lunches, across the foot bridge down by the Dingle. Going back for half term end of Oct, taking a group of friends, should be good at Halloween in the town with the ghost walks.

Super campsite on the edge of the River Severn. Very busy the weekend we visited but managed to pitch our montana 12! Campers mainly there for the fishing so we thought we would give it a go. Had fab day fishing, not far to walk to find lovely spot. Other fishermen very helpful and friendly. Nice play park for kids. Very limited washing up area. Good job everyone ate in the pub. We ate there and it was a brill meal, one of the best we've had in a pub. Good campsite for weekend, no longer because of limited facilities

Just come back from this camp site, we stayed there over the May bank holiday. I've looked at all the reviews and cant help wondering why any of them were positive! Firstly it cost us nearly £25 a night! For that price I would expect an on site shop for starters, gas bottle exchange and more toilets and showers. Iv been camping for more than 7 years now and iv never had a worst shower than here,it took me 15 minutes to get shampoo out of my hair. The whole block needs a facelift if they want to charge these prices. The washing up facilities was disgraceful, the taps were a foot above the sink which meant that you were soaked every time. My husband kept says that perhaps there was on site entertainment area we hadn't discovered yet for the price we paid. We are going to Tenby again this year and we are not paying anywhere near £25 a night and that's near the sea.
Bitterly disappointed with this site and I just want to warn people about it. We love quiet sites and yes it was definitely that, but I would not want to pay more than £12 a night for it.
