This was the second time our family of 5 have been to Tremorvu in 4 years. We found the previous owners very welcoming and helpful but we were not disappointed in meeting Lee and Kate and found them equally as nice and friendly.
We also saw some nice improvements. Firstly they now have a little shop which sells all the things you need and the are of good quality. For example, The sausages and bacon are from a Helston butcher and were great. They will get you your morning paper, if you would like them to and they will also get things in for you, if you ask.
More pitches have electric hook ups and Lee has plans to add more as time and finance permit. I was also able to access the BT broadband hotspot that is available on site, certainly, near the house.
This is a great site for families as it is not near main roads and it is a 'quiet' site, with no club house or bar which means that it has it's usual noises of any family campsite but is still great for getting a good nights sleep.
Toilets are only a couple of years old and are clean and well maintained. No charges for hot water here! My only slight gripe is they could be 'serviced' more frequently as they can get grassy/muddy when the ground is damp and as the site is becoming more popular the soap/loo roll gets used more quickly etc. But you only have to ask and Lee will sort it out.
They also now have a washing machine and tumble dryer now which is no more expensive than the laudrette and is essential when away for a couple of weeks with 3 children!
Location-wise you are close to the south coast which gives access to the surf if the wind is from the south but you are only 20 mins from Hayle, which gives good surfing if it's blowing the other way. This is always handy if you do get some sea fret at the site, (which we have on 3 or so days out of 28) as we always found the north coast was clear.
The Lion & Lamb,(down the road with a 15 min walk back so you need to take your torch!) does a good pint and nice food and is child friendly too! We also like the SandBar overlooking the sea at Praa Sands. Again, good beer along with food and a daily specials and music on some nights too!
Finally, don't take all of the available pitches! I have been in two minds as to whether to post this review because when you find somewhere you really like and is good, you want to keep it for yourself. I want to make sure there's still room for us this summer!
We love it and will be back for more in 2011.

Booked this last minute, as it was the only site that answered the phone, so I had no idea what to expect. However we had nothing to worry about as it is a really nice site. Very well kept, very clean and the owners are very friendly.
The weather was not great, and it does get very misty in the morning and the winds were quite strong at times.
I would be happy to stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a quite site. Though would advise you to make sure you display your parking ticket if you go to nearby Prar Sands.

The shower block is small, but new. There are two toilets, two showers per block (ladies and gents) a small shop. A new owner who is going to improve for the future.
The chemical disposal (open a man hole cover)but the intention is to improve.
Easy access, although the road is small with passing places, good location, set in an enclosed grass field (compacted, no problems in wet to get out)which gives the feeling of remoteness although you are not that far from a main road ( only downside is that the Tresoweshill tends to hang onto the mist on a misty day.
Ashton village post office is now closed, which would have been a big asset, although the Lion and Lamb does a fantastic daily meals ( about a miles walk from site)and the centre of entertainment in these parts.
This is a tranquil site for families and couples, with a friendly owner who is always willing to help.

The site’s approached by a narrow 100 metre long unmade lane which isn’t too bumpy so isn’t a problem. It’s 1/2 mile from the main road and totally quiet and peaceful.
Nice, flat, well maintained main camping area with 15 or so pitches most with hook-ups and currently two other fields available. The owners have just bought the site and are in the process of expanding facilities to include a shop and in due course a bar and games room.
Lee, the owner is very friendly and chilled. As it stands the toilet block is new, spotless and the showers hot and free. The block has a washing-up area which was fine for us during low season but I suspect it will become a busy area. Laundry facilities next to farmhouse.
Site ideally located for exploring south coast beaches and footpath from site up to top of Tregonning hill give astounding views over the whole county. Pub, 10 minutes walk is OK – annoying shrill jukebox seemed incongruous. Chinese restaurant 5 minutes drive is excellent.

Found this campsite as a last minute stop off before returning home after a week of touring Devon and Cornwall. We were the only ones on the site, which suited us fine!
The pub down the road comes highly recommended if you want a nice meal. Don't remember the name, something like Lamb & Lion or something. After the meal, had to drive back up to the site as it's a little hike on an unlit road.
I met the owner the first time we arrived (before returning to the pub on the main road) and he was a very pleasant man. Anything we wanted, we could knock on the door for assistance. He told us about the new shower block but to be honest, the old loo in the old stone barn was all I needed in the morning before the long journey home.
Not a brilliant campsite, but ideal for a couple for a night's stay. I'm sure the new shower block would've been great if we had used it though! Very cheap for a place just to get a good night's kip. Only £10.50 including electricity.

We stayed in the main camping/caravanning field last summer. When we arrived we were shown to our pitch & told that we could pitch between 2 points but not beyond them. We did this. After we had pitched they came back over and told us to move as they had made a mistake! Obviously we were not happy, especially as we had double checked before we put anything up.
Overall the site is very well maintained, the shower block is kept clean, as is the washing up area. There was a fridge and separate freezer for guests use (we did not use these though) but others were, I would assume that you would label your food/ice packs.
The site is very hot on recycling, you have to separate all your cans, bottles, bottle tops, glass jars, paper, cardboard etc.
They are very strict on noise levels, some people when we were staying there were 'told off' for chatting in their awning after 9pm at night!
It is conveniently located to some lovely beaches(not within walking distance though). The nearest main shopping areas in Penzance or Helston, both approx. 10/15 mins drive away.

Lovely looking site in a lovely area of Cornwall, lovely clean toilet facilities and in the small field they have a rather quirky old loo block bit like flintstones cave all very clean though :)
It's not ideal for families with children, ideal for couples though who tend to go out and explore all day and come back and retire early to bed.
There is no play area for children but you are only a few miles from some of Cornwalls most stunning beaches.
The approach into the campsite is very narrow and bumpy but manageable.
Recycling is a must on this campsite as there normal bin is only a small bin,so come prepared for a bit of recycling. All bins are named and rubbish must be sorted correctly.
A few miles to Tesco in Helston and in other direction Morrisons in Penzance.

The access road to the site is very narrow and uneven, but once at the site it is a lovely field, that has the older toilet block on, all kept very clean, the new toilet block has 2 loos and showers in the gents, and 4 loos and 2 showers in the ladies, the water was always hot, and very clean.
Lovely views from the rally field over towards Penzance with sea views, although the rally field does have a abundance of thistles in.
This site is quiet, and no noise at all is permitted by the owners, even during the daytime both children and adults were told to be quiet, also they have a very strict recycling regime

Can echo previous reviews in that the site is probably best for those without children. We like quiet sites, we had chosen it because it was reviewed as such. Even so, the owner remarked that our 17 & 19 year olds were 'excited' when they arrived - we hadn't noticed! As far as we were concerned, we had put up the awning & made a cup of tea! Also, we felt quite naughty when we quietly returned from the Minack Theatre at 11.20pm (it was the quickest we could get back after the play finished,)& read the sign that banned vehicle movements on site after 11pm. Oops!
However, it's a very pleasant site, nice new loo block - but no worktop space to put toiletries - plenty of space, happy owners but I think they may become victims of their own success. We were there in one of the busiest weeks admittedly, but we got the feeling that they had more units than they were really geared up for. The (fabric) towels in the loo block (ladies & gents) weren't changed for several days & with 20+ units on site, they needed it!
Easy access to lots of lovely Cornish stuff, pasties, cream teas, beaches etc. Would happily go back, but would go out of season to get the quiet site we were hoping for.
