Camped for 2 nights at the end of August. Purpose of our trip was to go to Burghley horse trials which was about 20 miles away but with easy access.

We arrived on the Friday lunchtime. What struck us was the pleasant surrounding of the farm house The owner appear very relaxed and gave us the choice of where to pitch our tent. The toilet block/shower and wash up area were clean and fit for purpose. The showers were large, plenty of hooks and a bench plus lovely and hot! We camped in the orchard but most of the caravans were in the main field. The atmosphere was very laid back and relaxed and most enjoyable.

We used the local pub which was also nice and friendly with great, reasonable priced food. A visit to Rutland Waters is also well worth a visit.

We will definitely be returning next season =)

What a smashing campsite! Very well laid out, and exceptionally well kept, plenty of space, and a really unhurried feel to it.

Local pub very short walk away, local well stocked shop as well, which opens long hours.

Very pretty village, with lots of local interest.

Only negative, and it is really petty, the showers and toilets are very clean and spacious, but could do with a facelift, if the site was very busy, there may be an issue as there was only two showers each for male and female, but we had no problems while we were there, having said that the campsite was very quiet during our stay.

Very quiet and relaxing, will 100% visit again.

First class.

Lovely peaceful site in a lovely village with a friendly pub and a great little cafe. Nicely thought out shower block with space to change which was always clean. There is a laundry room too although the washing machine does really need to be replaced but still very handy for a quick wash. Very nicely maintained and helpful owners who helped me when I had a puncture. Good dog walks locally is a plus for us.

We booked to stay here for two nights with friends. On arrival we were greeted by the very friendly helpful owner, we were all in the front Orchard field and told to pitch where we wanted to. They happily provided extension leads so that we could pitch where we wanted and still hook up to the electric points. Some of the ground was very undulating but we all managed to pitch on flat ground.

It was lovely all of us being here together, we had two toilets nearby and it wasn't far to go to the main block where there were 3 toilets in the ladies and 2 showers. They weren't the most modern but apart from a few cobwebs they were clean and did the job. We didn't venture through here very much at all - it looked as thought it was mainly for caravans and we were quite happy in our area.

The surrounding area was lovely for walking and we visited the local pub, a few ate in there and said it was very good, we just ordered drinks but I have to say the service was extremely slow.

Homemade apple pie and cake was purchased from the local shop. Oh my goodness. How delicious was that!

Very reasonably priced at £14. 50 with EHU - we would definitely return - it was so nice to have a group of us together in our own little plot.

Stayed 3 nights over Bank Holiday & pitched in the Orchard, where there are 6 EHUs. Lovely spot although 1 tent had a problem with water collecting under their tent, but they had pitched in a dip. The ground was in places undulating but beautifully cut & obviously looked after. There is a separate toilet nearer than main block for Orchard pitchers & that was handy, but only 2 showers with lots of hot water. These were a little tired looking & could do with some updating but were usable & clean.

The village chocolate shop is well worth a visit & only a short walk, as is the tea rooms, which does a lovely afternoon tea.

Didn't go into the other field, where there were mostly caravans & on talking to a caravanner, was told there was 16 seasonal pitchers at that time.

All in all a lovely quiet, friendly site & I would return.

We’ve just come back after a spending a week at Low Farm and I can honestly say it was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted a nice quiet campsite to kick back and relax without the hustle and bustle of a commercial site, and it didn’t disappoint in this regard.

The owners were away, but the site was being looked after in their absence by a couple who were wonderful hosts and made us very welcome upon our arrival. We set up camp on the orchard using the hedge as a convenient wind break, and apart from one quiet Dutch family had the field to ourselves.

The quality of the ground is excellent with the grass being good quality and frequently mowed, and the toilet/shower block was clean however I would agree with some other comments about the need for more cubicles and showers, we stayed in a very quiet period so it wasn’t an issue, but can see that it would prove problematic at busy times. A couple more washing up sinks/drainers would also be helpful.

As others have mentioned, yes there are a few Pigeons around, but that really is out of the control of the site owner and you’ll find them virtually everywhere you go, so being toughened traditional campers we didn’t consider it a big issue.

The local pub has recently changed hands and is highly recommended serving real ales and wonderful food. The local store is superb and very well stocked with all that we needed, and then there's the chocolate house and tearooms!

I would definitely recommend this site to anyone wanting a quiet break away.

We went to Low Farm as a group of four families, with eight adults and nine children. There are some very mixed reviews on here so didn't have high expectations. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and told where to pitch. We were on the front field, which couldn't have been a more delightful or perfect spot! We were the only ones on the field, apart from a small group of two tents who camped in the orchard. We had nine children between us, and they had the run of the entire field. There was a shallow stream running along the length of the front field, which didn't cause us any problems, even though we had children ranging from 11mths to 6 years.

Facilities were not all singing and dancing but they were very clean, well stocked and everything worked. Yes, some of the walls may have benefited from a lick of paint, but it kind of added to the charm! I didn't feel that any of the tiredness that has been mentioned in other reviews detracted from the amenities or the site at all. The owners were lovely, site was beautiful and the facilities more than adequate. Although I didn't have a shower as we only stayed for 2 nights, they were very clean and I would happily have showered there. There were washing up facilities, washing and drying machine and a hair dryer in the main toilets. On the Saturday morning, the owners put on a beautiful spread of various cakes and tea, coffee etc, all of which were free. It was a lovely idea and nice to meet others on the site and also an opportunity to peruse the various camping and caravanning things they had on sale. They had also gone to the effort of providing lollipops, cupcakes and squash for children, again all free. They had a collection tin to take any donations, raising money for a charity that was very dear to their hearts.

There were no pigeons that we saw or rabbits, but we did see swifts, swallows, red kites and various other beautiful birds that you would associate with being in the country! A joy to watch and hear. Oh and the local tawny owl who regularly serenaded us along with the resident song thrushes!

As for the village of Folkingham, ( the high street was literally a two minute walk from the campsite) what a quaint and beautiful village. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, including the residents. Cannot speak more highly of Quaintways tea rooms and restaurant, who gallantly provided a three course meal for our party of 17 and not only was each course beautifully cooked but the staff couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating! Also recommend Henleys chocolate shop, where not only can you buy beautiful chocolates, but you can also see them being made!

We were going to venture out to Belton House, but the campsite was too beautiful and we were all having too nice a time and so spent the entire weekend on the campsite. We have all made a unanimous decision to come back next year! Thank you Low Farm and Folkingham for a truly perfect weekend.

Nice friendly owners suggested we fill up the water tanks from the entrance before entering the site we choose this one at the time because it had a washing machine/dryer and needed some clothes doing only stayed 2 days but to be honest £17. 50 p/n was a bit steep I think the site is more geared towards tents/caravans as there was a grey water disposal but it was walled in with a meter high wall which meant I could not empty our grey water because the gravity would not go over the wall which was a tad annoying other than that it was quiet at night and the birds where the only 'noise'. Would I go again. No not at the price I think 12-14 would be more like it.

Turned up for our first outing in the new tent. Someone was there to show us on the map where we could go, easy pitch, not stoney and electric hook up.

Nice base for a couple of walks we has researched earlier in the day, with our 3 dogs. Quiet and pleasant evening with a tent cooked meal and a bottle of wine!

Showers and toilets basic but perfectly adequate and clean.

Not sure why people are mentioning pigeons, but there are quite a few, and rabbits etc. It is the country side after all!

Quite a basic site. On arrival the owner was out. There is a sign instructing you to find a pitch and pay later. We really wanted a hardstanding but the only two not in use had cones on them saying they were reserved. We only wanted one night and the pitches were reserved for someone not even arriving until later in the week. As there was no one to ask if we could use one of these pitches just for the night we decided to find the most level grass pitch we could. This site is very sloping and the grass in wet weather is not really suitable for motorhomes. Eventually, the owner came back and we were able to swap to a hardstanding, much better. The toilets and showers are very basic and reasonably clean. Although, the next morning every surface in the toilet/shower block was coated in dead flies.

The nearest and only pub in the village is not dog friendly and doesn't appear to be too hot on food so a pub meal would be a drive away from the site.
