Lovely site and would return and recommend to others....however a few points I wish I had been told before we went. The brochure/website is slightly misleading, it states that the site is away from all busy/noisy roads, however it fails to mention there is a railway running alongside the site . The earliest train I heard was at 6.30am-ish and the latest about 10pm with maybe 8-10 trains a day (not really too much of problem as you get used to it), but I would like to have known this before I booked).
The walk in to Killarney is 1.6 miles (not 1 km as stated) and the childrens play area is a car drive away, again not too much of an inconvenience but I would have prefered to have known all of this.
Pub within walking distance(The Old Mill at Killarney Heights Hotel) does nice food, the staff are lovely and kids juice ie, squash and water is free! They also do a great Irish Coffee.
The campsite owners are very friendly and can't do enough to help. We were given a choice of where to pitch and the site never felt cramped. Toilets and showers were spotless and never seemed busy even though we were there for a fortnight in August. Showers were €1 for about 5mins (paying for showers is a pet hate of mine especially as the site was €28 per night). Constant hot water for washing up, the cleanest chemical toilet disposal I have ever seen -It had fresh flowers in it!! Never used the campers shelter or laundry. Games room has 2 pool tables €1 r=per game and also one arcade-style game, there is also a separate tv lounge. Freeze blocks can be frozen at the shop for 10c each which they donate to charity.
Shop sells basics but is quite expensive (€2.90 for a normal sized jar of jam), Tesco & Lidl are both a short (5min)car ride away and a supervalu supermarket is a 10 min walk. Eire is I think on the whole expensive for food/alcohol shopping. It is in an ideal position to explore Kerry and West Cork and there is loads and loads and loads to do in the area, wish I'd been there a month.
