We stopped here for 11 nights and had a lovely big pitch right at the end which was quiet and beautiful. The French owners were fine and very helpful. We had fresh bread delivered everyday which was great. The area is very beautiful and Pont de Vaux is a lovely French village to visit and the area around is great for biking especially along the river from PDV to Fleurville. Ok the showers and toilets could be better but they were clean. The swimming pool was very popular with the children. We would recommend this site and we would return if we could have the same huge pitch.

Very easy to locate from the motorways. British owned at the time, but apparently selling. An excellent site. A refreshingly small swimming pool. No shop on site, except essentials. Atack supermarket within easy reach. A very serene area. Overhanging trees were dripping snow-like deposits, which could be annoying, but maybe it was the season. Wine country - Chardonnay - a short drive away. Flat cycling terrain. Recommend.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way to South of France and 1 night on our way back. If we hadn't had made arrangements to meet relatives in the South I would have been happy to have my whole holiday here we liked it that much.
We had a fantastic welcome, Bob and Angela are really friendly. They let us choose our pitch, the pitches are huge! Bigger than I have ever seen and its such a nice setting. Very quiet and relaxing and very well maintained. There is a lovely looking swimming pool which wasn't open in May but would be fab for the summer months. Facilities were very clean as well.
This site is in a lovely area; Pont Veux itself is a lovely pretty town and we visited the market which is held on a Wednesday. It's a big market and we got some lovely local cheeses and olives which were scrummy! A bit further on just at the outskirts of the town is a pretty marina which we walked the dogs around one evening. They are doing some building work, there is going to be a fantastic pool complex and bar / restaurant type thing which looks like it might be open next year which will really be good as there are no bars / cafes at the marina itself. The town has a few nice bars and restaurants though.
There is an excellent supermarket about a 3 minute drive from the site. You exit the site and its literally just down the road. Its called Atac which we hadn't heard of but it was very good quality and a lot of choice and good prices too. It also has a petrol station and a garden centre across the road.
I would definitely like to go back to this site and spend more time in the area. Bob and Angela are due to retire any day now and the site is going into French ownership. Some Brits we got talking to who go year after year to the site were saying they just hope the new owners don't reduce the pitch size.
Would highly recommend this site.

We stopped at this campsite for 3 nights. The pitches were large compared to other campsites we have visited. We also had a choice of 3! The pool was excellent and although there wasn't a shop on site, Angela kept a small amount of milk, water, wine and ice-cream in a fridge in reception. Fresh bread and pastries could be ordered for the morning.
There was a pizza van on site one night a week and Chips were available from the kiosk 2 nights.
The facilities were clean and modern.
There was plenty to do locally.

Lovely quiet site well away from traffic. Grass pitches are huge with dividing bushes and good access roads. Nice swimming pool and excellent facilities. Bob and Angela the British owners make you very welcome. Our gas regulator had failed and Bob arranged a replacement to be fitted locally as the Truma Agents he contacted for us in Lyon were unhelpful. Angela did chips a couple of nights when we were there, they were delicious with our BBQ meats. The Supermarket at St Benigne is only a couple of minutes down the road and has cheap Fuel. We stayed 6 nights on our way to Millau and enjoyed touring the area.

We stopped here for one night on the way down to the South. Our pitch was on grass and was a good size, but was a bit lumpy and bumpy. The facilites were a bit basic in portacabin type things, but were well maintained and clean. The wardens were very friendly (and British) and were very helpful when we asked about good local restaurants in the village. The one we chose to eat at was called the Red Pig (Cochon Rouge), and had excellent food at reasonable prices. We would stop here again as there was a nice atmosphere, and there was a little swimming pool if the weather were suitable.(It rained).

We stayed here for 3 nights on our way back up from the south of france and it was such a delight to see large grass pitches after all the dust we'd got use too. The wardens are friendly and make you feel very welcome, this is a very peaceful site and great for relaxing, there is an cycle route from the campsite that takes you most of the way into pont de vaux via small lanes except for the last down hill bit and we really liked the small town with its square. They are building a new larger supermarket and petrol station just at the top of the hill into pont de vaux so if you do your shopping buy bike this is really good as its just near where you come out of the back lanes. We tended to use the smaller portacabin facilities as they where nearer to our pitch and although they are a bit older they worked very well. There is a pizza van that visits one night and they do fries and crepes another night. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be going back again and maybe even stay a bit longer

Find site:- Leave A6 Autoroute at either Macon or Tournus and head towards Pont de Vaux. From Pont de Vaux take the D2 signed for St Trivier de Courts. After about 4 kms you pass through a village called St Bénigne, as you exit the village there is a tall water tower on the right. Take the next left and then left again for the campsite, it is well signed. This campsite has been owned and run for the last three years by an English couple, Angela and Bob, who are very welcoming. The campsite has about 55 pitches, all on grass and most are enormous compared to normal campsites. I reckon ours was in the region of 200 sq metres and there are larger ones! The electric points are a useful 10 amps. Water points are convenient to pitches. There are two toilet blocks, one which forms part of the reception block and another 'porta cabin' style on the other side of the site, both are uni-sex. The site has two swimming pools. You can order bread from the site office. Les Ripettes accepts 'Touring Cheques' although with a handy 10% reduction on site/person fees in the low season there is not much of a saving. This campsite is useful for an overnight stop heading South or North on the Autoroute. It is also a good site for a rest for a few days or longer as it is so peaceful and relaxing. Pont de Vaux has a couple of supermarkets as well as several restaurants. Macon and Tournus are within easy reach.
