This was our second visit to this charming and friendly site and we've already reserved our pitch for next year. It is an absolute gem. Run by Richard and Wendy you couldn't want for a warmer welcome than you will receive here. It has everything we look for in a campsite, immaculately clean facilities (separate loos/showers for ladies and men), good size pitches. A small playground is provided for children as well as a table tennis table. The swimming pool is spotless. Richard makes pizzas and chips on site. They are delicious.
The small town of Navarrenx is a short walk and the whole area is so picturesque.
In the town you can purchase bread and croissants, etc from the boulangerie. There are also small supermarkets nearby.
If you like all-singing, all-dancing campsites then do not go here. It is probably not the place to go if you have small children who need entertaining 24/7. There is no hi-di-hi entertainment on offer which makes it, for us, the perfect place to holiday.

We stayed at Beau Rivage in July 2010. It really is a lovely site. The Curtis family are very welcoming and a font of all knowledge about the area. The pitch we stayed on was fully serviced, and plenty big enough for our caravan, awning and car to fit on with space to spare. The town of Navarrenx is at most a 10 minute walk from the site with lots of restaurants, bars, bakeries and delis, and there is an '8 to 8' supermarket and filling station very close to the site. There is also an Intermarche Supermarket about 10 minutes drive away.
The facilities are very good, with two toilet/shower blocks which we always found to be clean. We tended to use our own shower, so can't comment on those. The laundry room doubles up as a library with a huge selection of books.
There is a swimming pool on site, perfect for a swim when the sun gets too hot, and when we went (in term time; I don't know what its like in school holidays) we always got a sun lounger with no problem! Directly outside the site is a massive open air municipal swimming pool with brilliant children's pools - it was empty nearly every day we were there! We didn't bother with it but I'm sure Wendy will have all the information needed should you want to use it.
Richard bakes Pizzas and chips every night - and he does them very well. Perfect when you have done nothing but laze about all day and can't be bothered to cook anything on the evening!
The site is very well placed with lots of small villages within walking or cycling distance, and a wealth of towns and cities a drive away. We covered most of them but are hopefully going back next year to do the rest!

You can go along way before you find a site as good as this medium size gem, near a town and its facilities, both serviced and non serviced pitches, pool and loungers a Pizza service run by the owner!
For those who don't want to caravan or camp some excellent Chalets. Easy access to the western Pyrenees and Spain. Friendly and helpful owners who take a personal interest in the well being of their campers. Highly recommended

This was the second stop of our trip down through France to Spain and back, and we stayed for two nights.
It took us a while to find the site, but I think that was our fault and we came in on the wrong road! It is set just outside the walls of the fortified town on Navarrenx, which is lovely and very picturesque. It is up in the hills, and surrounded by lots of trees.
Unfortunately it rained for the two days / nights we were there, and it would probably have been stunning if the weather had been good. That said, the campsite was very nice, the toilet / shower blocks were spotlessly clean and there was a nice play area for kids and a nice pool. The kids (9 & 6) braved the pool for a bit and were quite happy despite the drizzle!
The site is nicely set out and would have been quite peaceful if it hadn't been for the festival going on in the town. On the plus side, this meant there was a small fairground, including a ferris wheel, but on the downside there was music pumping out until about 4am!
None of this was the fault of the campsite, obviously, but it did lead to a couple of restless nights - the kids slept quite happily through it, as would I have done if it hadn't been the tent's first experience of rain, my other half hadn't popped his airbed and also been bitten by ants and had his leg swell up to twice it's normal size! That said, the lady in the chemist's shop in the town was very helpful and very tolerant of our truly appalling French!
Despite all this, my husband has declared this his favourite of the four sites we went to, so I think that says a lot!

We visited this site for the first time this year. And it was a pleasure to do so.
The owners -- English couple Richard and Wendy Curtis have completely refurbished and rebuilt this wonderful site. You can see how they done it on their website Blog.
The main areas consist of fully serviced hard-standings -water - electric (16A) and drainage with grass and shade to the front of the pitches.
Walk 500 m into the town for bread and provisions - sells pizza on site in the evening - I wish they did more
Campers/caravaner's of all nationalities
Also have 10 chalets for rent
Attractions Nearby: the town of Navarreux is a Basteed town -(fortified against the English or French) during the 100 years war.And all the walls and fortifications are still in very good condition.
The thing that we liked about the area that there was something to do or see in what ever direction you decided to drive out of the town
Navarreux plays host to the annual “World Salmon Fishing Championships” which brings hundreds of fishermen each year to try their skills in the mountain-fed rivers of the area

You will be guaranteed a good welcome by Richard and Wendy Curtis to this small well equipped site. The site has 2 very clean toilet blocks not unisex, also dish washing and laundry facilities to the same standard. Pitches are a mix of reasonably large hedged grass pitches on the top part of site and fully serviced hard standing pitches a little lower down. There is a small play area with rubber matting, a superb new pool, which I thought was quite large for this size site with sun loungers. The site has free wi fi at reception which has tourist info for this area, plus the owners v good local knowledge, also a good stock of reading material ,games etc. The site is a 5 min walk from the walled town of Naverrenx, which has a selection of bars restaurants, bars and shops,2 Min's walk is a well stocked shoppi supermarket.Which accepts British credit cards in its fuel pumps. An Intermarche is 5 Min's drive . This site is an Ideal base for visiting the Pyrenees,The pilgrimage routes,Bairittz,Bayonne and Spain In my opinion this is a superb well run site, clean ,quiet, small with very good facilities which we intend to visit again next year
