 Set in a beautiful Derbyshire riverside location, this site is an ideal spot for exploring the Peak District. Although it is a very basic site, the hosts at the Square and Compass are very friendly and accommodating, serving excellent food at reasonable prices. The area has lots to offer with regards to country walks and within walking distance of Darley Dale station where Peak Rail run steam trains throughout the year. Well worth a visit.

This is a basic site in a pleasant village. We stayed there during the weekend of England's exit from the World Cup along with my two brothers and their young families. Although it is not somewhere I would recommend to first time campers, the facilities were passable and the landlord a very friendly and accommodating chap who has the interest of the majority at heart. I say this because on the Friday night there was a lot of noise from one group of very rowdy fans who woke some campers up with bad language and 'singing' in the early hours.
There were two showers with toilets in the same room so a queue was inevitable at times. However, these were kept clean and there were no complaints from anyone of the 'WAGS'! It would have been nice to see the soap dispensers filled though.
The grass is in desperate need of a cut but all in all this was a serviceable site with a friendly atmosphere. I have to recommend the pub just over the bridge though - the Three Stags: free bouncy castle and playground for the children and great ale.
